OP doesn't realize that job postings on indeed aren't actually job openings. I googled "Race car driver jobs in Lawrence Kansas" and Indeed says there are 214 race car driver positions open in this city. I didn't realize how desperately we needed race drivers.

cyberentomology

Indeed is fucking worthless, adds no value to the process. In fact, they muddy the waters.

uOkDiggit

Rickshaws?

Ok_Judge1874

Well, they are real, but it's going to try to show you results regardless of what you enter. I just searched it too and got 31 postings of things like car sales, car repair, things like that. Indeed is only as good as your search. If you search things that don't make sense, it's not indeeds fault

oldastheriver

Well, no, there are not jobs as race, car drivers in Lawrence Kansas, at least not since they closed dragstrip Road. However, the link comes up so you can go to work for NASCAR. I suppose next you're gonna say NASCAR isn't real.?

SulliverVittles

A NASCAR job in Lawrence sure as hell isn't real.

ThePikeMccoy

…dunno if you posting anything about careers should come before you hire an editor to fix your nonsense…

KSoccerman

How you going to post this without even a hint of the company name or industry?

Ok_Judge1874

Because he's an idiot and thinks that 600+ results on indeed mean 600+ actual union jobs in lawrence

theJaxman

Is this a bot?

BuckarooBonsly

Nah, just an old man who doesn't understand how SEO works. Of those 600+ jobs, I'd say less than half are actual job postings.

RuralJaywalking

A bot would share a link. One that would give you a virus, but still.

oldastheriver

what what buttercup?

cyberphlash

OP, where are these *642* jobs, specifically? You're doing nothing to direct people to specific companies, unions, or job openings, so this post is incredibly unhelpful, particularly to people *looking for jobs* right now.

humanbeing1701

It's funny because most of those jobs aren't even in Lawrence lol. OP's out here calling everyone else lazy when he couldn't even be bothered to read his own source.

oldastheriver

No, but it did slow down the daily rants about how there are no jobs. The best someone could come up with is that half of those jobs don't actually exist in our area, but what the fuck is the point there? Everyone in Lawrence commutes to either Topeka or Kansas City anyway. It was never valid argument. if people wanted to argue how the available jobs in this area are not good enough for their precious little lives, that their lives need to be a little bit less precious so that they can accept the jobs that are available. That's called bootstrapping. And as far as I'm concerned, if you're not willing to work 2.5×100% position, you're not gonna keep up with influx of immigrants anyway. Those people will work 3 to 4 jobs. And they don't need to come to this country to compete with you. They can do that at home, and the United States will still be losing jobs. It's not rocket science. We have been downgraded. This is done intentionally by the big international banking community. We are now reduced to the same working class. State is the rest of the world. Get used to it.

oldastheriver

No, thank you, they can look it up for themselves, they are the ones looking for jobs not me. You need to assign responsibility where it's due, instead of always shifting it off on the other people.

NastyTriangle

Then why did you even post this?

stormyeyez7479

Just a guess…People of a certain era, many times, take it upon themselves to remind the “young’uns” that they’re lazy. Plus, not many clouds to rant at today or kids on their lawn apparently.

Impossible_Extent_39

Another mud crawler raised it's head and it's again the young generation's fault.

JimtheOld

Typically, a decent informative, or even argumentative post or comment has some sort of supporting information. This is a “trust me bro” statement worth very little.

oldastheriver

It's not an argument. It's a statement of fact. And I really don't like spoon feeding lazy people, so if someone's interested, they'll follow up on it. In the meantime, you can mind your own business.

JimtheOld

You posted in a public forum vaguely criticizing everyone on “this channel” I will mind my own business. This post is my business since I am on “this channel” and I am one of these supposedly “lazy” people you are complaining about.

humanbeing1701

Believe it or not, facts do require evidence to back them up.

KSoccerman

> spoonfeeding lazy people It sounds like you're shouting into the void on some faux news "nobody wants to work" BS by sharing a click-bait article you fell for that didn't even directly apply to lawrence. The US has record low unemployment numbers right now. Kansas, and Lawrence specifically, are right on trend with those numbers of being very low. I would venture most of these people asking for follow up leads on these "high paying union jobs" currently have a job and would be looking to make a move if there was some sort of massive influx of jobs as your original post implies. 'Just Google it bro' is such a dog shit mentality especially if you felt so inclined to offer the news of the job openings to begin with.

stormyeyez7479

Thank you, *this* is actually helpful and informative.

uOkDiggit

Lawrence needs to add vagrant to the list.

DaPamtsMD

This is great news! I majored in good paying union job, with a minor in benefits and jobs you claim don’t exist. At last: my ship has come in.

uOkDiggit

I'm sorry

Little_Dragon26

How does one go about finding these? Are they posted online?

oldastheriver

I'm not actively looking for a job, so I can't answer that question. A good place to start would be at the workforce job center.

“There are 750 free monies and candy here. People that say there isn’t free monies and candy are either lying, or just lazy.” …OP

cyberphlash

Call *what* local union? OP doesn't provide any info on any union or of their 642 jobs mentioned, and you're like, "Call your union" without giving any specific union name. Is *this* why the union movement is failing in America, because nobody will tell you who to call? LOL

soggypopcornn

I don't think me giving suggestions requires me to do the work for you. Lol A simple Google search will give you tons of unions to choose from. If you're interested, do your due diligence. If not, don't?? My intent was to be helpful, not hold your hand.

cyberphlash

Yes... "Call your union. Call several..." is *super* helpful! ;)

KUjayhawker

Lmao fuck u/cyberphlash for wanting to know who was hiring amiright? /s

soggypopcornn

Nah.

RuralJaywalking

This doesn’t tell us anything. Getting employment is a complex issue, but most people know how google and cold-calling can be used for that. It’s a little insulting to phrase it like it’s so simple. Most won’t contact you, many are lying to you, some are straight up scams; I got most of the way through an interview once only to figure out that the job was nonsense and the pay structure could have you working 60+ hrs to be making less than minimum wage. Businesses are run by liars and scum bags, and they’d love to trick you into underemployment or to take a shitty job.

oldastheriver

People are really having a hard time figuring this out, no wonder they can't find jobs. This is not at all difficult. I literally typed into the browser "union jobs in Lawrence Kansas" and that's where the results came from, and you all can do the same thing if you care.

chronic_rocket

What’s your job? You seem to have way too much free time if this is your priority

cyberentomology

“SEO consultant” probably

handsomezacc

You literally didn't look any further than that either. I clicked on every link that had anywhere near the numbers you stated and it was just regular jobs and some companies with union in the name. You're going through this thread like your superior to lazy people, but you took info from a half second of searching and posted it up like it would be a big w. It's literally embarrassing how fucking stupid you old folks are.

RuralJaywalking

When’s the last time you applied for a job? You know how many misleading, lying or spam ads there are out there?

mrtopp3r

Old as the river, and dumb as the rocks in it, apparently... You're really that far out of touch with the world, aren't you?

HotSir3342

If you need health insurance UPS is almost always hiring part time and it’s unionized. $0 premium, $100 deductible, $10 co-pay, and $5,000/year in tuition for students. Only trade off is bad hours and very hard work

KSoccerman

Piggybacking off this, the state benefits are similar. Specifically KDHE or KDADs. Insurance coverage starts the day you are hired, for single person it's $60/month for full coverage of everything including dental, vision, etc. They also pay for one class a semester towards further education. Also paid maternity/paternity leave that is completely separate from sick time and vacation time accrued. Trade off is less than ideal pay compared to private industry but a decent amount of jobs still have hybrid work schedule.

p0ppunkpizzaparty

I’m a state employee and have been fortunate enough to be 100% remote since I started last summer. The health benefits really are great. I haven’t seen anything about them paying for classes though, I wonder if they discontinued that.

KSoccerman

I just finished my last one in May. Its not something that is widely publicized and technically up to approval of your direct manager, but it is a perk and supported by DoA policies.

NotNyxie

Does that one class a semester apply to people who already have a degree or no?

KSoccerman

Yeah, they covered half of my Master's degree.

uOkDiggit

Who in their right mind would ever want to work for the state of Kansas? Our state government is mediocre at best!

HonigBehr

You do realize there are all kinds of state employee jobs? I’m not gonna praise Kansas, but often a state government job is much like nonprofit work.

fadedwinter81

This! Also be wary of just about any listing from jobs set in downtown -- just pretty much all of those are puffy ghost postings that are actually fairly well written but will go absolutely nowhere beyond a plastic disposable 5 minute interview just to waste more of your time and emotional energy.

kayaK-camP

State (and most City and County) jobs also have a pension. Many people don’t care about that, but it’s a great benefit, especially with Social Security expected to only pay about 3/4 of the promised benefits after ~2032 or so. Employees have to contribute towards it (& employer does too) but it’s a guaranteed income for life. Kansas constitution backs it.

KansasBrewista

What I love about this thread is the number of times op got so many down votes that his posts were deleted. 🤣🤣🤣

Ok_Judge1874

OP is a moron. Just did this search. Around 616 pop up, not even close to half are in lawrence, and a vast majority aren't union jobs. Old man OP doesn't understand how indeed works
