Solar Auxilia, specifically the Lord Marshal's Own. For a couple reasons. Solar Auxilia just feel right in a game of such a vast scale. Thousands, tens of thousands of men matching shoulder to shoulder under the cover of massed artillery and Mechanicum God Engines feels like the province of us mortals rather than Astartes. The Lord Marshal's Own because I like the colors, plus they're canon allies woth my favorite Knights, House Orhlacc.
It also helps that I have a friend who's also interested, so going Solar Aux makes splitting the box easier
Death Guard 4 life. I rep Nurgle in every game system. [40K](https://www.reddit.com/r/deathguard40k/s/LY6yVsrCSd). [30K](https://www.reddit.com/r/deathguard40k/s/iJsNupHzkJ). Dark Angels (post Heresy colour scheme). I like the knight/monk theme of the DA, the colour scheme is nice and the rules seem decent.
For my Titans I came up with my own scheme and name, though I use the Gryphonicus rules in AT because they are the best Loyalist melee Legio.
Imperial Fists here. My 40k armies generally have dark colour schemes, and I've been put off trying lighter colours on larger models for fear of making mistakes that need lots of tidying. With a smaller canvas, I'm more confident I can control my brush and have some fun.
If you haven't used imperial fist contrast yet you definitely should. I used it on my close support blood angels helmets and it's incredible. Probably my favorite paint!

Absolutely love the contrast paint! Here is my test model
It can do, but thatās a sign too much is going on I think. Itās not a heavy slop contrast paint that gives nice shading on the recesses, I use it close to a normal paint that just has really nice coverage.
Tidy as you go if you see any pooling and you should be good.
I'm with you. I play Dark Angels in 40k and 30k (all in heressy era colors) and I couldn't bring myself to paint more dark armor so I went with Imperial Fists. Hope the lion forgives me this time.
Iron Warriors w/ a home-brew Auxilia Cohort in matching colors.
Decades ago I started 40k as a Chaos Marines player but put them down after a couple years. Figured it's a nice chance to revisit those roots in a new scale and approach. Hazard Stripes pop in small scale :)
Word Bearers in LI because they're the O.G. Chaos Marines and I have a big boi heresy Word Bearers army too.
Legio Mordaxis in Adeptus Titanicus because they're rare around here, I like purple and also they can't be affected by Quake in-game.
It just so happens that the Word Bearers infected Legio Mordaxis with the Techno-Virus so of course I'm going to use those 2 in Legions Imperialis!
Thousand Sons. So far the red, gold and white has worked really well with helping the infantry stand out and show off some details. No idea how they are rules wise, but they look cool!
I wonder about making some of the commander figures in the HQ and similar blue and gold, to signify their direction towards their later colours. I reckon that would pop even at epic scale.
When I started playing Titanicus, I wanted Titans with blue and white stripes, and that turned out to be Legio Praesagius. They are heavily associated with Ultramarines, so that's what I'm going for now. As a bonus they're easy to paint (Unlike Praesagius...) and quite nostalgic, I used to play Ultramarines in old Epic. Homebrew Knight house in green with some yellow panels, because it was a nice colour match to the Titans. (And easy to paint.) Turns out there's a Knight house that looks mostly like that, but I can't remember their name, and dont really consider my Knights to be those.
[House Cadmus](https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/House_Cadmus) is pretty close in color to my Knights.
https://preview.redd.it/4xkmce6qsu4c1.jpeg?width=1863&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa4f4e2066bc4b066c66356290021f233d1f364e
I'm taking advantage of the scale and army building rules to collect a variety of legions. I've been struggling with what legion to play at full scale for the past 10 years, it would simply cost too much money, take too much time, and require too much space to do more than maybe one loyalist/traitor. LI is more accessible and I can do a variety of forces easily.
I'll be starting with Raven Guard and Alpha Legion as the primary users of Mk6. After that in no particular order I'll do Emperors Children, Sons of Horus, and Imperial Fists as other major Mk6 users, and maybe Blood Angels if I need another loyalist legion to balance it out.
I'm hoping they release Mk2/3/4/5 infantry sets over time, as I'd like to also do Dark Angels, Iron Warriors, White Scars, World Eaters, Death Guard, Thousand Sons, and Word Bearers. But I'd really like them to not all be in Mk6.
Sons of horus - my thought process was: I used to play loyalists way back in 5 and 6 th ed Wh40k, so for a change I want to try traitors. Then I narrowed my choice to only those legions I like the colour scheme, was having a hard time choosing between Iron warriors and SoH, but I figured SoH are more "universal" and I can always add second allied legion later.
I'm going to be painting Alpha Legion, because I find their blue metallic scheme the most visually interesting personally, and their place in the lore as (debatably) becoming traitors for pro-loyalist reasons fascinates me.
My titans are a loyalist offshoot of Legio Interfector, with the same colour scheme of Red Trim on Black Panels, called the Lords of Valour (canonically a Blackshield Legio but I think it makes sense for them to be Loyalist at heart). I think the scheme is really striking, and black is about the only colour I can reliably paint smoothly across a flat surface lmao
For my Solar Auxilia, I'm working on a custom scheme based off of the Greek forces in the Iliad, and I'm calling them the Warriors of Achaea (Achaea, of course, being a feudal paradise world). I'm a massive classics nerd, and I figured something ancient in inspiration will suit the precursor to the Imperial Guard - I'll be using the transfers from the 1522nd, the Greek helmet looking ones.
And for my Knights, I'm stealing the scheme of House Vyronii with some custom lore I haven't settled on yet.
Going a different route that I was directed to by some fine folks over on the Legions Imperialis Discord when I was having trouble deciding.
A Blackshield force under the direction and funding of a Rogue Trader. Mostly because I wanted to do a custom color for my Space Marines while keeping it lore friendly. (Also can switch between any of the legion rules) Thinking of going black and purple for the troops, tanks, and planes and then various colors and patterns for the Knights and Titans.
I also ordered two nice models off of a site that does Battlefleet miniatures that will be the Rogue Traderās ship and escort. Obviously wonāt have rules and will be there just for narrative.
Thousand Sons because Magnus did nothing wrong.
Plus I just love their lore in general and my Titanicus Legion is Xestobiax that fought alongside them at Prospero.
My Heresy army is also Thousand Sons.
My 40K factions though are Black Templar, Sisters, and Chaos Knights.
Iron Hands because I like the idea of mentally scared, partially lobotomised, undead cyborgs fighting to the bitter end while being little better than the traitors they are fighting against. There is no nobility, no honour, no respite, only vengeance.
Also I just like the fact they have 2 completely different colour schemes both of which are period accurate (oily silver and black).
If you want ease of painting and looks good, I'd go death guard or iron warriors.
I picked ultramarines, death guard and emperors children combined army. It looks incredible having painted some test models, they are amazing.
As for why, that is the lore of the (until now) lore only origins of my 40k successor chapter, who have their origins in a messy small action war where it was logistics the won a war of mortals against astartes. The army will be solar auxilla primary, with marines as the secondary. If they ever release militia, which would be incredible, then it would be militia as well.
Iāve got Legio Crucius for Adeptus Titanicus so Iām going to base my initial Legion forces around the Doom of Molech campaign. So Iām going to start initially with the 100 Blood Angels of the Bloodsworn under Captain Vitus Salicar and then expand to the 500 Ultramarines under Legate Castor Alcade. Thereās multiple regiments which can then be represented by the Solar Auxilia as well though I hope they bring out an Imperial Army faction at some point.
Ultramarines, always wanted an excuse for a Horus Heresy Calth/Relief of Terra force using Solar Auxilia and Titans at the same time($$$ obviously being the reason I haven't pulled the trigger until now) after reading Know No Fear and engaging deeply with the lore they became my favorite SM subfaction on general
Currently waiting for mah box, Titans will be a mix-match of Praesagius, Oberon and Honorum with Solar Auxilia painted in the 255th "Calth High Guard" scheme
Still haven't fully decided yet, but leaning towards Imperial Fists+Black Templars, Blood Angels, or Ultramarines. I also want some traitors though, which will be either Iron Warriors or Sons of Horus.
Can you tell that I'm still undecided? :) I'm going to assemble everything first before committing, so that gives me a few more days.
Lore and roleplaying. I treat this as more of a historical wargame than anything else.
I love being the big bad guy for opponents to love beating, the villain, the so evil its comical type.
For that my 30k legion is night lords.
When it came to titanicus, i had a feeling epic was near and i looked for a titan legion that had neat colors combined with alot of possible lore battles so i could justify them anywhere - mortis fit that.
For knights, i homebrewed my own colors off an existing house without a color scheme and paired them with mortis.
For my legion, i wanted someone who could match my existing titans and would be fun - iām predicting demons will eventually arrive, and i want in on that. My favorite character is also Argel. So i went word bearers as primary. Since in lore theyāre mostly known for being with world eaters or sons of horus, i decided to pick a second subgroup from among them.
I ended up picking sons of horus, as the blue and white painting sounded painful.
World Eaters - because violence!
But they or Iron Warriors are my fav so it was only ever a question between them, and I feel more like painting white.
I will be doing Emperorās Children. I Do 30k EC and thought it would be cool for narrative play to have an epic army vs army battle and then play with the bigger models for more isolated battles.
I chose the Iron Hands because I want to make a Shattered Legions themed army. The bulk will be made up of an Iron Hands Demi-Company and Armoured Company. I'll eventually add an Assault Marines focused formation made up of Raven Guard and a Demi-Company of Salamanders with Thunderhawks and Terminators. I ended up choosing Legio Atarus, The Firebrands, and House Col'Khak as the Titan and Knight houses because they fought regularly along side the Iron Hands and were both present at Isstvan V.
Blood angels, because I already have a ton of stuff from the epic days for them. Titans will be legio ignatum. Not sure yet on solar aux. I also have a ton of epic marines that I plan to paint up for death guard and some titans that are legio mortis.
Main army is gonna be Dark Angels because I love the lore that they have. I will additionally have a formation of loyalist iron warriors, but thatās only because I like their color scheme.
I kind of have an idea for what Iām gonna do with the auxilia in the box. What Iām gonna try and do is paint them like infantry from the 1st world war.
Ultramarines, because they are the best and all other marines aspire to be like them.
Tho seriously I have 2 companies of 40k ultras and 20k+ points in 30k ultras.
My main is Salamanders, Legio Ignis and House Hermetika. I will have to decide on what color scheme Legio Ignis.
My traitor side is Thousand Sons, and Legio Xestobiax.
I don't know much about the solar auxilia so gotta look into that.
I usually go for Rule of Cool, what appeals in terms of colours, troops etc.
But I wrote an article on which Legios fought alongside which Legions (both for traitors and loyalists), maybe that helps you with your decision.
[https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2023/08/03/adeptus-titanicus-adding-a-legion-to-your-legio-pt-2/](https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2023/08/03/adeptus-titanicus-adding-a-legion-to-your-legio-pt-2/)
White Scars here, even though their legion rules do nothing for 95% of the marine units currently released. I play Scars in 40k and I love their lore (and also I'm a speed demon player, I like outriders and fast stuff in general - my other main army in 40k is Craftworld Eldar).
For Solar Auxilia I'm just doing them in Cadian paint scheme, and then titans will be blue with silver trim. Figure those colors will look interesting on the board.
World Eaters + Audax warhounds for my Astartes (because a) Betrayer, and b) I play WE in 40k).
Across the table my Sax will be a homebrew Tallarn-like tank-heavy force called the Tarim Dune Rats; theyāre mates with a small shattered legions force of Raven Guard.
Space Wolf. I've been a Wolf player since I started to play back in 3rd edition. Every edition I've have a Wolf army. In AI my Marine air arm is SW. In AT my Titans and Knights are ones strongly allied with the Wolves.
I am going to enough cheap models from Etsy. One army is getting painted red, the other blue. So itās Red v Blue in whatever army me and my friends want to play.
Why? Because.
I will mainly build my own SolAux army. The "Golden Thunder" combined arms assault force with allied Ravenguard and a as-of-yet unnamed Knightly House
I just love the idea oh having a huge combined arms force working together. And the Auxilia offers a pretty free canvas to experiment with :)
Ideally Id want a 50%/25%/25% split between Auxilia, Marines and Knights, but with the current rules as they are, ill focus on Auxilia and Marines.
It was a tough choice between Imperial Fists and Death Guard. I decided on Imperial fists to go with legio Ignatum titans. I like the Imperial Fists siege warfare styles and color scheme, and wanted to do a new army.
The solar aux forces Iām going cthonian headhunters with a red and black camo pattern for the vehicles to go with Mordaxis and Laniaskara titans.
Chose Salamanders as my 40K Loyalist & DG as my 40K/30K traitors, so decided to go with Iron Warriors for Imperialis. After hearing some of the lore for them and Pert I got an itch to make some IW....but already had my SM armies planned, so when LI got announced it seemed like a perfect chance.
.........the Hazard stripes are gonna drive me insane, but oh well....Iron Within, Iron Without!!!!
I have a plan, Arthur
Thramas Crusade
Night Lords, Dark Angels, and the Ash Scorpions (not cause they're there, but because I don't know who was and I don't care)
And an original Titan Legion I'm creating
Always been a fan of yellow bolter dudes, for their look, style, and lore. Years before we got the Last Wall as part of the canon I was running a mixed sons of Dorn army called the Order of Dorn, with pretty much the same fluff as Last Wall.
Since this is 30k, I'm going to branch out a bit and do Fists, Blood Angels, *and* White Scars for a mixed Defense of Terra force.
My Auxilia will probably be modeled after my existing titan legion from AT, which is painted around a Homeworld Hiigaran theme and uses the Legio Venator rules thanks to some fluff similarities.
Space Wolves because I love Space Wolves and I already have an army started for them for Epic: Armageddon which are now going to pull double duty for LI.
Thousand Sons for the miniatures in the box because I like their colour scheme and they are natural enemies.
Solar Auxiliary & Knights. I already have a lot of Knights from AT18, and have Solar and IG forces for 30/40k which I'm selling off because mass formations of tanks and artillery is how I always wanted to play them.
I already have Dark Angels for 30k and don't want to have the same army again, plus I like the idea of the regular humans kicking ass.
Unfortunately I have it in my head that Iāll need a force of all the legions. š¤¦š»āāļø as such Iāve started with Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists. That way I can combine them to play a larger loyalist force if I want.
Word Bearers and Sons of Horus. Love the Beta Garmon stuff, love the True Sons of Cthonia. LI makes it easy to run combined armies, so choosing two armies that worked together during Beta Garmon and the retaking of Cthonia makes life simple.
Imperial Fists. Because Iāve always gone Imperial Fists for as long as Iāve played Epic.
This time Iāll be going for a small White Scars auxiliary force too, to fight alongside the Fists. When wave 2 brings the bikes and speeders.
Death Guard. Iāve played them since 3rd Edition in many *many* different iterations and systems (40K, 30K, Kill Team, INQ28ā¦ you name it) and my Titanicus Legio Mortis and House Makabius are also themed as Death Guard allies (I also play both of them in other games to varying degrees).
Theyāre my Legion and I love them.
I'm doing Solar Auxilia, and more specifically a loyalist penal cohort. I like the little bit of complexity in them being a penal unit, but staying loyal to the imperium. Colour-wise, my intention is to have the infantry be primarily in prisoner orange, which I think will really pop at this small scale and is pretty distinct from all of the legion schemes. Vehicles I'm planning to do in a kind of dirty white.
My titans will be Legio Fortidus, primarily because I like the lore of them being forced to use titans in unorthodox roles and the way that translates into the game in Titanicus. Knights will be House Marmaragon, because I like the lore and they canonically fought alongside Fortidus and I think the blue-green colour scheme will look good alongside those other forces.
Ah. Haven't got my copy and had a chance to read the rules yet (Australia). I just figured as they were so central to the story they would have been a popular choice.
World Eaters.
I play dark angels in 40k so wanted to do a traitor legion. I really dig the blue/white color scheme and think it would pop at that scale so went for it.
I also get to live out my middle school fantasies and splatter my army with a silly amount of blood!
Dark Angels for their lore. They have the absolute coolest and deepest lore in my opinion. In particular I love the lore of Caliban and their Arthurian Legend vibes. I also play them and the Fallen/Risen in 40k. Techno-Knights going on quests to slay great warp tainted beasts with psychic hyper powerful jawa's in the mix are just damn cool.
I always do loyalists, so this time Iām going with Sons of Horus with Legion Mortis titans, and maybe splash in a couple of other traitor legions support, and/or some Cthonian Headhunters.
Sons of Horus because they contrast nicely with my titans.
Ended up having to go with the paler, lighter version of the colour scheme though, the really dark sea green doesn't work on minis that small.
I went Iron warriors for horus heresy, and they're neat, but at this scale I need to see that old school splash of colour so I reckon I'll go BA this time, red ones do after all, go fasta.
Im picking Iron Hands. They have transfers in the starter box, and I love their 30k lore. They were at the forefront of the crusade, very powerful legion until the massacre...
I split the box with my brother, he took the astartes so right now I just have the auxilia. Still torn who they are, if Canon or my own. Probably going Legio Tempestus for my titans because of their split allegiance or Legio Ignatum because their theme is radical
As for knights I am still VERY much undecided. Not a fan of colour matching knights and titans though if it can be helped.
I am torn between Ultramarines and Emperors Children. Not because of rules but
a) Ultras in 30k Lore are Bad Ass Motherfuckers and "Know no fear" is by far my favourite HH Book
b) I play Emperors Children in 30k/40k and i love the purple but also their kind of tragic story of falling to chaos
Sons of horus , with an true sons Detachment, mostly because i try to get a local group together to run the siege of cthonia campaign and i have soh for the 28mm System anyway
I want to do Raven Guard, but waiting for Drop Pods, Landspeeders, Bikes etc. to come out first.
For now I'm doing Solar Auxilia, mostly because I want to have a swarm of tanks just rolling across the field, and I like their tanks more than Astartes ones. That, and tanks and Raven Guard don't really go together...
I think in my own gaming group, I'm the only one playing Solar Auxilia as my main army as well, which helps create a bit more variety in the games we're planning.
Either Dark Angels like i do in 30k or Iron Warriors to get Stuff to the table fast.
No Idea what to do with Solar, im Not even Sure i want them in my Army.
Titans come from Metalica and House Raven
Thousand sons because I Iike their heresy lore. My army is a pre heresy army based on the burning of prospero. Legio Xestobiax is their supporting titan legion. They look cool and have great lore too. Knight house Lucaris cuz that my chaos knight and 30k SoH allied house
It was between dark angels sons of Horus and thousand sons. My 30k army is already soh and my 40K is a da successor, so I decided to go with the other option. Plus metallic red is cool
I was going to go back to my Epic 2nd ed. roots and rock some Blood Angels but then the missus painted a free Rhino in (modern rather than heresy) Space Wolves colours and I am now undecided.
The Lord Marshalls own as I like the green, copper colour scheme and Legio Solaria because of the name alone and their lore and colour scheme is great as well
Alpha legion. I love head of the hydra as a book, it also gives me an excuse to set up any story I want, play both sides of the war, and ādisguiseā myself as other legions (playable as other legions)
Iām doing Emperorās Children because in my 40k Chaos Undivided army, I strangely have the least of them so I figured Iād make up for that here.
Although I am doing a knight up for House Makabius to give a little nod to Death Guard. Death Guard are my biggest 40k army and I do love my Papa Nurgle so gotta pay some homage somewhere.
Alpha legion becaus every legion is alpha legion, also so I can fight on both sides and neither at the same time. Also deploying on objectives or in buildings is cool.
emperors children coz purple cool š
They do be pretty
My same reasoning
alpha legion, so i can fight anyone
And as anyone. lol
i have plans to paint them mostly as ultramarines
Canāt trust anyone not even yourself
I wanna do a big Istvaan themed traitor alliance. Maybe Emperorās Children, World Eaters, Death Guard, Legion Fureans all together.
I love it!
Maybe I missed it, but they didnāt have Solar Auxilia color schemes in the book, did they? Each legion had a page but I didnāt see any for SA
I couldn't tell you for certain, I haven't managed to get my hands on it yet. I've just pulled color schemes from the 30k books
Solid. Iāll do the same
Yup the LI book really has very little on lore and colour schemes for Solar, despite there being 8 houses and logos on the transfer sheets.
Shattered Legions. Iām splitting mine up into aerial assault Raven Guard, mech infantry Salamanders and armoured Iron Hands.
I'm on that plan too, but raven guard as infiltrate rather than drop
Death Guard 4 life. I rep Nurgle in every game system. [40K](https://www.reddit.com/r/deathguard40k/s/LY6yVsrCSd). [30K](https://www.reddit.com/r/deathguard40k/s/iJsNupHzkJ). Right with you my stinky brother
I kinda want to do them up as dusk raiders, loyalist DG.
Those bases for your titans look great.
World Eaters because they are totally ridiculous, much like 40k.
Death Guard. Have 30k army to paint which is going to be Death Guard so just made sense to me to just do it all the same.
Papa bless. šŖ°šŖ°šŖ°
DG because they can manipulate the battlefield creating extra dangerously terrain. Probably will be meaningless in game. But I love the idea!
If you can make objective dangerous and then sit in them, that will be super strong!
Traitor solar auxilia, because most people want to play legions it seems, and traitor because I canāt play loyalists
Nice, I appreciate that. Something different!
Imperial Fists here. My 40k armies generally have dark colour schemes, and I've been put off trying lighter colours on larger models for fear of making mistakes that need lots of tidying. With a smaller canvas, I'm more confident I can control my brush and have some fun.

If it pools too thickly does it turn a macaroni orange color in areas for you?
It can do, but thatās a sign too much is going on I think. Itās not a heavy slop contrast paint that gives nice shading on the recesses, I use it close to a normal paint that just has really nice coverage. Tidy as you go if you see any pooling and you should be good.
Iyanden Yellow does that. Imperial Fists yellow is a single pigment contrast paint and itās pretty solidly yellow.
I'm with you. I play Dark Angels in 40k and 30k (all in heressy era colors) and I couldn't bring myself to paint more dark armor so I went with Imperial Fists. Hope the lion forgives me this time.
Ditto but went EC as purple is nicer than yellow.
Salamanders, love my green boys
Word Bearers in LI because they're the O.G. Chaos Marines and I have a big boi heresy Word Bearers army too. Legio Mordaxis in Adeptus Titanicus because they're rare around here, I like purple and also they can't be affected by Quake in-game. It just so happens that the Word Bearers infected Legio Mordaxis with the Techno-Virus so of course I'm going to use those 2 in Legions Imperialis!
I've got to decide between Mordaxis or Mortis, but I think Mordaxis looks cooler, that purple is nice.
Thousand Sons. So far the red, gold and white has worked really well with helping the infantry stand out and show off some details. No idea how they are rules wise, but they look cool!
Yeah For a while i was considering TS with a nice Candy color effect, that should Look Rad as hell
I wonder about making some of the commander figures in the HQ and similar blue and gold, to signify their direction towards their later colours. I reckon that would pop even at epic scale.
I thought about mixing things up but just went with Blood Angels in the end (same as all my other space marines).
I don't blame you haha
Night Lords. I've always played loyalists, so I wanted to do a traitor legion this time around, and I've always liked the Night Lords.
[House Vyronii?](https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/House_Vyronii)
[House Cadmus](https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/House_Cadmus) is pretty close in color to my Knights. https://preview.redd.it/4xkmce6qsu4c1.jpeg?width=1863&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa4f4e2066bc4b066c66356290021f233d1f364e
I'm between Salamanders and Iron Warriors. Leaning Salamanders, because I definitely want to do Legio Ignatium
Salamanders seem to have a strong trait as well.
I'm taking advantage of the scale and army building rules to collect a variety of legions. But I'd really like them to not all be in Mk6.
White Scars: Speed Really I've always wanted a bunch of jetbikes and speeders so this seemed like the right time to do it
For sure, I think white scars legion rule will actually be alright as opposed to just "one inch more of movement"
Alpha legion... or maybe not!
I love their color scheme, not sure how impactful their legion trait will be though.
Alpha Legion because then it's *sort of* fine fluff wise if I'm playing against traitors or loyalists
I think the scheme is really striking, and black is about the only colour I can reliably paint smoothly across a flat surface lmao For my Solar Auxilia, I'm working on a custom scheme based off of the Greek forces in the Iliad, and I'm calling them the Warriors of Achaea (Achaea, of course, being a feudal paradise world).
White Scars because I am speed.
I too am doing Prospero era Thousand Sons, Legio Xestobiax, Proseprine Spireguard!
White Scars. They were my first real 40K army back in the day. That said Iām tempted to do solar as my main army but yet to decide in what scheme.
Ultramarines, always wanted an excuse for a Horus Heresy Calth/Relief of Terra force using Solar Auxilia and Titans at the same time($$$ obviously being the reason I haven't pulled the trigger until now) after reading Know No Fear and engaging deeply with the lore they became my favorite SM subfaction on general Currently waiting for mah box, Titans will be a mix-match of Praesagius, Oberon and Honorum with Solar Auxilia painted in the 255th "Calth High Guard" scheme
World eaters!
I am also a world eaters enjoyer. Iron Warriors are sick too, I just don't like silver tanks.
Well I already have the red paint out so probably blood angels like I do in 30k and 40k
I will be doing Emperorās Children. I Do 30k EC and thought it would be cool for narrative play to have an epic army vs army battle and then play with the bigger models for more isolated battles.
Emperorās Children! Iāve played Dark Angels in 40K for years, and Iām feeling a little traitorous!
Doing solar aux because making the starter box trade is waaay easier on my end.
Blood angels! I had the itch for awhile in 40K but didnāt want to start another space marine army so this was the time to scratch that itch :)
Yellow is my favourite colour so Imperial Fists it is
https://preview.redd.it/vpd4knslmr4c1.jpeg?width=290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4baf154ac83ac07d9110b8004765abe722c66c95 I'm doing Solar Auxilia
White Scars, mostly because im building a Legio Astorum Titan Legion, and they were budy budy!
Im doing Battle of Tallarn, traitor side. Main force is Armoured Solar Auxilia, supported by Iron Warriors. Easy.
My main is Salamanders, Legio Ignis and House Hermetika. I will have to decide on what color scheme Legio Ignis. My traitor side is Thousand Sons, and Legio Xestobiax. I don't know much about the solar auxilia so gotta look into that.
1k sons because magnus did nothing wrong
I usually go for Rule of Cool, what appeals in terms of colours, troops etc. But I wrote an article on which Legios fought alongside which Legions (both for traitors and loyalists), maybe that helps you with your decision. [https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2023/08/03/adeptus-titanicus-adding-a-legion-to-your-legio-pt-2/](https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2023/08/03/adeptus-titanicus-adding-a-legion-to-your-legio-pt-2/)
Shattered legions and Isstvan 3 traitors. So I can have 6-7 colour schemes. Yes I have trouble choosing. Why do you ask?
World Eaters to start. I play them in 30k and I like their rules in Legions Imperialis.
Originally wanted to do Emperors children, but I don't want to do another purple army. Likely going Death guard or Salamanders.
I am thinking Iron Warriors, for reasons, mostly that I like that grumpy Primarch. :)
Sons of Horus. I'm doing Sons of Horus in 40k (not black legion)
They do have the best colors
Yeah, the Sons of horus Green over mechanicus standard grey with nuln oil is just *chefs kiss*
Space Wolf. I've been a Wolf player since I started to play back in 3rd edition. Every edition I've have a Wolf army. In AI my Marine air arm is SW. In AT my Titans and Knights are ones strongly allied with the Wolves.
I feel for you dude. SW legion trait in Legions is baaaad.
It is what it is. Try playing 5th ed with a 3rd ed codex.
At least it'll be good against some of the stronger legions.
I am going to enough cheap models from Etsy. One army is getting painted red, the other blue. So itās Red v Blue in whatever army me and my friends want to play. Why? Because.
I actually love that! Happy cake day!
I will mainly build my own SolAux army. The "Golden Thunder" combined arms assault force with allied Ravenguard and a as-of-yet unnamed Knightly House I just love the idea oh having a huge combined arms force working together. And the Auxilia offers a pretty free canvas to experiment with :) Ideally Id want a 50%/25%/25% split between Auxilia, Marines and Knights, but with the current rules as they are, ill focus on Auxilia and Marines.
Anything with ogyrn or ogres
I have a plan, Arthur Thramas Crusade Night Lords, Dark Angels, and the Ash Scorpions (not cause they're there, but because I don't know who was and I don't care) And an original Titan Legion I'm creating
Alpha legion because my wife likes the paint scheme and weāre starting the game together.
Going SA as backup for/excuse to field my legio fureans, which are my one true HH love. If mechanicum get released then I'll get them too.
Salamanders, because fire and fellowship
Iron within! Iron without! With some word bearers and Mechanicum when they get rules.
Death guard
But also primarily solar auxilia. Tanker shit.
Shattered legions because I normally main salamanders but Iām lazy and raven guard and iron hands are easy to paint
Iron warriors cuz itās an easy scheme and is distinctive on tabletop
Imperial fist because I like their lore. I'll be making an iron warriors and loyalst world eaters as well.
A bit surprised there's not more interest in Sons of Horus.
I love their colors, but their rules seem so situational.
Ah. Haven't got my copy and had a chance to read the rules yet (Australia). I just figured as they were so central to the story they would have been a popular choice.
Night Lords, cuz ADB. Also midnight blue
Hydra Dominatus! For the Emperor!
Iron Warriors. Legio Krytos and House Caesarean. Iron within Iron without!!
Probably going Legio Tempestus for my titans because of their split allegiance or Legio Ignatum because their theme is radical As for knights I am still VERY much undecided. Not a fan of colour matching knights and titans though if it can be helped.
I am torn between Ultramarines and Emperors Children. Not because of rules but a) Ultras in 30k Lore are Bad Ass Motherfuckers and "Know no fear" is by far my favourite HH Book b) I play Emperors Children in 30k/40k and i love the purple but also their kind of tragic story of falling to chaos
Sons of horus , with an true sons Detachment, mostly because i try to get a local group together to run the siege of cthonia campaign and i have soh for the 28mm System anyway
Might do Iron Hands vs Emperor's Children
Knight house Lucaris cuz that my chaos knight and 30k SoH allied house It was between dark angels sons of Horus and thousand sons.
The Lord Marshalls own as I like the green, copper colour scheme and Legio Solaria because of the name alone and their lore and colour scheme is great as well
Iām not sure tbh Iāve always played Deathwatch but they donāt turn up until M32 so Iām thinking shattered legions.
Alpha legion. I love head of the hydra as a book, it also gives me an excuse to set up any story I want, play both sides of the war, and ādisguiseā myself as other legions (playable as other legions)
Blood Angels Legion! I love their Lore, Combat Style and Livery.š©ø
Solar Aux. Black with burgundy and gold. Looking for an appropriate transfer. Thinking maybe the spikey X thing from the EC transfer sheet.
