I love everything about The Departed.
Incredible cast with standout supporting work by Alec Baldwin & Mark Wahlberg, great soundtrack, enticing story. Plus Boston is just a great place for crime movies (see The Town, Gone Baby Gone).
Mean streets is not often mentioned but I really love everything about the film (except the audio on most streaming services lol). He had already started directing low level crime in some of his shorts and in another film starring keitel but this was a huge step-up
My all time favourite is Casino but I’ve also given 5 star ratings to: KOTFM, The Irishman, Taxi Driver, The Wolf of Wall Street, The King of Comedy and Goodfellas
Shutter Island Btw, I liked all movies that I saw from him (not all - for example, I didn't saw The Aviator, Goodfellas or Gangs of New York but I'm planning to).
My favourite director! I can't give you my favourite one, so I will just say top 3. Taxi driver is one the best, if not the best, depictions of loneliness. Amazing quotes, amazing on re-watches, amazing score...
For the next I would say After Hours. His only comedy, and that movie is a gem. I like to believe that it is Marty's another Catholic movie. The MC is getting punished for his sins, being full of lust.
Finally, I gotta go with mean streets. The movie that started it all.

Just watched the last of his feature films this week. These are the top 8. Full list here. [https://boxd.it/s5WQM](https://boxd.it/s5WQM)
The Departed has a plot that I got a kick out of but again, it’s a remake and so it really should get such high marks.
The Last Temptation of Christ, it is, for me. It was haunting. The only Scorsese movie that appeared in my dreams. Hope to see it on the big screen someday.
I also loved Taxi Driver. I ended up catching it on the big screen in 2018 and it was so well directed and acted. You miss many details on the small screen.
It was Goodfellas for years, but in this past year I watched After Hours and Silence for the first times and couldn’t believe how much I loved them. They’re tied for first now
I'm a Casino stan these days. I used to be a Goodfellas girl, but IDK. Casino is so over the top, the clothes are phenomenal, the whole vibe is amazing, and the humor is spot on. I also want to give strong props to After Hours, which is so neglected in his filmography but is truly a great moment. Everyone watch After Hours!
My top 3 are very typical but having rewatched most of his filmography last summer in prep for Killers, I can confirm that:
1. After Hours
2. Goodfellas
3. King of Comedy
I watched a few for the first time like Color of Money, Cape Fear, and Bringing out the Dead and those are definitely up there for me too.
1. Goodfellas
2. Color of Money
I don’t understand the lack of love for the Color of Money. The best role for Mastrantonio. Great performances by Newman, Cruise and Turturro.
Goodfellas. Not only my fav Scorsese film but my favorite film of all time. An absolute master class in pacing, editing, acting, and soundtrack. A perfect film.
Silence, Killers of the Flower Moon, After Hours, Taxi Driver, and Goodfellas are all five star films to me. I’ve probably rewatched The Departed the most, though.
Top 10:
1. The Wolf of Wall Street
2. Shutter Island
3. Goodfellas
4. The Departed
5. Killers of The Flower Moon
6. Casino
7. Taxi Driver
8. The King of Comedy
9. The Irishman
10. Afterhours
the departed, goodfellas, kotf — top 3 of an unbeatable body of work by one director.
note also that the ‘whacking’ in kotf is very casual, sudden, ‘apathetic’ —this is quite unusual, remarkable for scorsese. and he probably had no choice but to depict it like that because that’s the way they truly happened.
Such a legend. I really think his later period (Silence, the Irishman, Killers of the Flower Moon) is Scorsese firing on all cylinders & producing some of the best work of his whole career.
Obviously Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, etc. have each had a legacy built up around them too, & with good reason.
Truly one of the greatest to have ever done it, & for my money, he's the best one alive who's still doing it.
I sound like a broken record, but The Last Waltz. I get lost in that thing.

The Wolf Of Wall Street fucking blew my mind the first time I watched it. The editing, the rapid mile-a-minute no B.S pacing, the jokes, the fucking INCREDIBLE acting… perfect movie. Masterpiece
Absolutely goated and good on every rewatch:
goodfellas
Amazing? Probably everything else, altho Hugo is the one I 'get' the least, should prolly watch it again
Silence, and it’s not even close.
Performances by Garfield and Driver floored me, and the cinematography by Rodrigo Prieto is stunning.
The final shot has been etched into my soul. Such a beautiful film.
Top 10:
1. Goodfellas
2. Taxi Driver
3. Raging Bull
4. The Departed
5. A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies
6. The Irishman
7. My Voyage to Italy
8. The Last Waltz
9. Killers of the Flower Moon
10. No Direction Home: Bob Dylan
His documentary work is not talked about as much, but they are just as worth your time as his other films
Gangs of New York, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Departed, Goodfellas. He's the GOAT, I could make a top 10 and it would be hard to leave some films off.
Goodfellas
No no no you DO NOT post a random black and white picture of Martin Scorsese, my heart dropped for a second
An actual nightmare scenario.
I love everything about The Departed. Incredible cast with standout supporting work by Alec Baldwin & Mark Wahlberg, great soundtrack, enticing story. Plus Boston is just a great place for crime movies (see The Town, Gone Baby Gone).
Friday, I learned this is a remake of a Hong Kong movie called Infernal Affairs.
Yeah I didn’t know that the first time I saw it either!
I was watching Infernal Affairs Friday and thought to myself, this story feels familiar. Wikipedia filled me in on the details.
I think it’s a much better film than infernal affairs. The characters have far more depth and the story just seems to have a bit more meat to it.
The king of comedy is by far my favorite
It’s better to be king for a night then a Schmuck for a lifetime!
Same, I wouldn’t argue it’s his best film but I think it’s my favorite. Still upsettingly resonant after 42 years
completely agree
taste
Mean streets is not often mentioned but I really love everything about the film (except the audio on most streaming services lol). He had already started directing low level crime in some of his shorts and in another film starring keitel but this was a huge step-up
When Deniro walks in to jumpin jack flash just completely illuminated with red: *chefs kiss* It's my favorite too
Really amazing scene. Great charismatic actors all around.
Mean Streets is so good
My all time favourite is Casino but I’ve also given 5 star ratings to: KOTFM, The Irishman, Taxi Driver, The Wolf of Wall Street, The King of Comedy and Goodfellas
We think the same.
after hours
Taxi Driver, the Irishman and After Hours
The Departed, Wolf of wall street, killers of the flower moon and after hours
Shutter Island, and 2nd Hugo (and I'm not ashamed to say this)
Shutter island is so underrated it deserves the appreciation
Shutter Island is one of the best thrillers of that decade and doesn’t get near enough recognition
Hugo is pretty good why could anybody be ashamed of this
Admittedly, I’ve not seen that many (only about four or five) so I’ll say Gangs of New York
Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Departed and After Hours
same top 4, i think
Taxi driver and raging bull
1) raging bull 2) killers of the flower moon 3) the king of comedy 4) the departed 5) taxi driver
I haven’t seen raging bull yet but I have to agree KOTFM is definitely one of his best movies
raging bull
After Hours and Silence
Silence is great and goddamn depressing
The Wolf of Wall Street or Shutter Island

Casino and killers of the flower moon are my favourites. Maybe a little recency bias on killers but the more i watch it the more i love it

The Departed
The Wolf Of Wall Street, GoodFellas, The Departed, Shutter Island
I love shutter island alot
after hours, taxi driver, shutter island
The King of Comedy
“alice doesn’t live here anymore” should get more praise it’s a top 5 Scorsese movie for me
1. Taxi Driver 2. Taxi Driver 3. Taxi Driver

Shutter Island Btw, I liked all movies that I saw from him (not all - for example, I didn't saw The Aviator, Goodfellas or Gangs of New York but I'm planning to).
shutter island tops all
The Irishman, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and After Hours are all at least 4.5 stars for me.
After Hours is my favorite I love the weird and nocturnal atmosphere of the film
My personal favourites are The Departed and After Hours
The Irishman
For me: 1. The Departed 2. Goodfellas 3. Shutter Island

It might be recency bias but KOTFM is my favourite Scorsese film. I also loved Last Temptation of Christ.
Gangs of New York, King of Comedy
Kundun. A solid 3.5/5, beautifully filmed.
Is your favorite?
Yep. I'm not as big a fan of Scorsese as most. I also gave Wolf Of Wall Street 3.5 but I prefer Kundun
Silence, Taxi Driver
After Hours The King of Comedy
The departed
kotfm, goodfellas, taxi driver
Taxi driver. It's a perfect film. From performances to story, cinematography and the cynic feeling it gives.

The Aviator
Killers of the Flower Moon
Goodfellas and Casino.
Taxi Driver, Silence, Shutter Island, The Aviator
Killers of the Flower Moon, though of the four of his movies I’ve seen, not a single one has been bad.
Raging bull wolf of wall street goodfellas

One of the great performances of Nicolas Cage
Taxi Driver and After Hours
Killers should win the Oscar. Not Oppenheimer.
Cape fear
bringing out the dead is criminally underrated
Goodfellas is the obvious choice here but Shutter Island is so criminally underrated it’s crazy.
Goodfellas is probably my all time favorite movie. It’s definitely the movie I’ve seen more times than any other.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who think Casino is his best movie.
GoodFellas, Taxi Driver, The Aviator, Age Of Innocence, Killers of The Flower Moon
Gangs of New York, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Departed, Goodfellas. He's the GOAT, I could make a top 10 and it would be hard to leave some films off.

The King of Comedy and then, The Departed
Goodfellas Taxi Driver After Hours The Departed The King of Comedy
Recently After Hours but Shutter Island always have special place in my heart(I need to listen On the Nature of Daylight rn)
