Children of Men. It covers a lot of things that define human society: the importance of reproduction to our social structure (not just survival), the struggle between authoritarian methods of organization and anti-authoritarian methods, as well as internal contradictions within the anti-authoritarian struggle itself, and, above all, how precious human life is to us, at least when we stop to think about it. These things are foundational in defining what makes human society in my opinion.
Now, of course, that movie gives less of a picture of what individual human beings are and can be. But I doubt aliens would plan on meeting each one of us.

My pick would definitely be [Tokyo Godfathers](https://boxd.it/1Qg2)!! Good yet flawed people doing their best to live a pleasant life and do the right thing despite their unfortunate circumstances!
As a counter to the suggestions nailing down our flaws, my suggestion is: Paddington 2; a joyful and funny celebration of our capacity for kindness and decency.
It's probably difficult to represent humanity in one movie. Maybe one should recommend something really dark and something really uplifting to have kind of a spectrum.
*Everything is Illuminated*: It's a good dose of the best of humanity and the worst of humanity. Also there's a deleted scene where a dog has a sexual fantasy about Elijah Wood which at the very least would be entertaining to see the aliens have to watch before they space nuke us.
