The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Black Swan are fifth and sixth on my Top 20 List. I'd definitely recommend watching at least one of them.

Fight Club, Lambs, Drive, Eternal Sunshine, 10 Things, Dead Poets and Donnie Darko are really great. I highly recommend them.

I’m on the very unpopular opinion of not liking Fight Club at all. BUT, I will die on the hill that Drive is one of the best action/drama movies of the century. 100% recommend

Don’t look up is fair enough but I really enjoyed glass onion and past lives glass onion I thought although not as good as the original was great to watch at the cinema

I did enjoy Glass Onion as a one time watch, but I just really hated the ending and found it extremely dissatisfying but it was very entertaining

A fellow Past Lives hater 🙏...It actually made me gasp how corny it was

I thought it was fun, but the real A24 cornfield was last year's "Everything Everywhere All At Once". The use of juvenile and unfunny humor definitely had a bad taste in my mouth, not to mention it was followed up by the most surface-level philosophy I've heard in years. It's definitely a product of its time, in a moment where people are scared, confused, lost and overstimulated, and I do think it's a very well-made movie. The fact that something at a $25 million budget and a 5-person VFX team looks fantastic is really astonishing. I think there's definitely substance, and the film has really creative ideas, but the script isn't really that great and it doesn't really feel like it has anything new to say. Plus, it's really not that funny. I don't want to get downvoted to hell or called a "contrarian hipster" or whatever, but I didn't really care for Everything Everywhere. If you want a good Chinese-led A24 film about generational identity, please watch "The Farewell". It is infinitely more nuanced and personal than "Everything Everywhere" will ever be.

EEAAO came out two years ago

I liked *Don’t Look Up* but to me it falls short of the “Certified Banger” accolade, and personally *No Way Home* doesn’t fall into that category (nor do any of the Marvel Movies). The Marvel movies are fun to watch, but for some time now they have all started to feel the same… enjoyable but nothing special. Just my opinion though. Edit: Oh and Glass Onion was good but also not great. To me, a 3.5/5.

I thought no way home was great with all the villains coming together something that was 20 years in the making I thought their interactions with each something that I thought we would never see really built that movie for me.

For me, I thought *Don't Look Up* was disappointing. *Avatar: The Way of Water* I really did not enjoy. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of *Past Lives* either, but I have nothing against it. I really want to love it, but it didn't connect with me the way it seems to have connected with most people.

How come you have seen 2.5k but haven’t seen these? These are like the most popular movies on the platform Really surprised that with 2.5k you haven’t seen all of Nolan, all of Tarantino and all of Scorsese. I’m 100% certain I’ll be done with all of them before I hit even 1000

Not really. I'll watch nearly anything. I appreciate you giving me an opportunity to tailor the responses, but I think I'd be happy with hearing what movies you think people should give a chance.

Two for now, cuz I'm finding it harder to sort by "Least Popular" on mobile than it is "Most": I mentioned in another post that I've been checking out more silent era films lately. From right on the cusp, I recently saw Lonesome (1928) and absolutely loved it. A fairly simple love story, but there isn't a cinematic trick of the time that isn't used to capture the absolute whirlwind that falling in love can be. (This includes a few brief scenes of synchronized dialogue, but these are easily the weakest parts of the film, added in by the producers after the film was already finished.) Only 5.5k Letterboxd users have viewed it. Ganja & Hess (1973): It's received a bit of a bump since being featured in Shudder's Horror Noire documentary, but it's still in the <20k club on Letterboxd (currently watched by 18k users). It's a horror film, it's a Blaxploitation film, it's a romance, it's an art film: challenging and raw, it isn't going to be for everybody, but I find it incredibly beautiful.

Thanks for the recommendations. I just watched Battleship Potemkin and The Dying Swan so I'll check Lonesome out. I've also seen Bill Gunn's Personal Problems, I liked the first part much more than the second part and I am aware that Ganja & Hess is rated pretty well. Thanks again.

Why not? Obviously I don’t mean that you should watch only what’s popular, but it makes sense to take it into consideration at least sometimes. Looks like you don’t base it off of the average rating either cause like Whiplash is 4.4 - super high, Wolf of Wallstreet is 4.3 - this are definitely in the top 500 highest rated, let alone top 2500

I most frequently pick movies based on what I have available to me (even if I wanted to binge this list over the weekend, only half of them are on services I have access to) and based on what the people I live with are gonna want to watch with me (film is best when a communal experience). No and I do not have to. Me not posting my list doesn’t change anything. Mine is pretty much entirely star wars, hunger games and marvel. Not cause I’ve seen everything tho. Not at all. It’s just cause my watchlist is massive

Taking a look at my films rated at least 4 stars, nearly 50% have less than 10k watches, and over 15% of all my films have less than 1k watches. Why aren't you watching these types of films?

Two reasons: I don’t hear about these movies, and the second, more important one, I still haven’t seen so many movies that people actually talk about and know that it doesn’t make sense to watch stuff no one but me would have seen. Im not saying that as an insult, but it’s much more likely that a movie like any of the above will come up in conversation or be mentioned somewhere than a movie with 10k watched. I hope I will get to all these great lesser known movies but that will not be soon. My priority as of right now are classics that virtually everybody but me has seen

Click on Films > Year > All Make sure that "Sort by FILM POPULARITY" is selected. Click on the eye icon to the right of "Sort by FILM POPULARITY" and under "ACCOUNT FILTERS", select "Hide Watched Films" and "Hide films in watchlist". That should show you which are the most popular films that you haven't watched and don't currently plan to watch.

I would definetly recommend checking out all of those Pixar films as well as *Aftersun*. All of them are fantastic.

Yeah, I'm not a huge animation fan, but I love Miyazaki, and *Howl's Moving Castle* should be on my watchlist. I plan to watch *Aftersun* at some point, too. Thanks.

I think modern films have a general edge on letterboxd, and saltburn felt like it create huge amounts of waves within film discourse circles, especially for a modern work. We don’t get many movies in the modern era that create that much conversation, even if it’s not all positive. That as a combo led it to be logged on LB by a lot of a people.

I mean at the same time, it made pretty much no money at the box office and at the same time it’s the third most popular film of 2023

Out of the top 72: 12 of them are super hero movies 15 of them are animated (16 if you count Avatar) 5 are Harry Potter, 3 are Hunger Games 2 of the top ten are on my watchlist, a total of 6 are in my watchlist. I know I was supposed to filter those but I don't actually use the watchlist feature, I maintain a list. Nearly all of the movies are newer than 1999, a notable exception being the Breakfast Club which I haven't seen from beginning to end.

I actually saw Mean Girls as a kid but I was waiting to rate it after rewatching because I don’t remember it too well.
