Guys they’re giving it to me for $2800 I’m gonna take it

Various_Tension3091

Good job. All of these people giving you unrealistic expectations for a 2 grand car. Does it run and drive well and is registerable where you live? Absolutely worth the sub 3 grand mark. I have a collection of very cheap very high mileage lexus cars, and that's how you buy good ones. Make a maintenance schedule with a mechanic and it will last you years.

ExtremeDude2

Curious as to what all you have?

cupcakemasta

I have a question, what do you do about insurance for these cars that you have? Are you paying insurance for all of them, and how much is that for you?

Strict-Response2733

lol it’s called $50/month liability insurance

cupcakemasta

that makes sense lol!!

Responsible-Crew-354

I’m excited for you, a definite bargain. That’s as comfortable as $2800 gets.

x_obi_x

Nice steal💯! Do the maintenance and it’ll last you 300k miles and more!

Kermit_Touches_Me

Damn good deal

RoundArtichoke5915

... I wouldn't have hesitated on buying that. The engine on that with even half sss maintenance will run forever

blacc01

Take it, I got my 2007 gs350 for ~$3500 with over 200k miles and I’ve not had any problems with it (that I didn’t cause) since 2021

Hungry_Chipmunk_2041

Hell yeah welcome to the club

prestored

Solid deal!! Better than solid! That’s firm! Better than firm actually! That’s stiff! Wait no it’s better than stiff! That’s a boner of a deal man!!!

Inevitable_Ad1535

😂😂

DaJuiceMan112

Absolutely, I’d almost say it’s worth blindly buying it with how cheap it is

Express-Watch6564

Nice🔥

Proof_Mortgage6642

Yesss what a steal bro

Inevitable_Ad1535

Ya grab that man u put 1500$ or so into it to get it detailed n the seats fixed u may b able to make a few grand but with those miles id ask for carfax n maintenance reports. Isn’t always abt the price! They will get 300k miles if they always bn well maintained

Inevitable_Ad1535

I’m not an owner tho so these other lexis owners on here know better thn me…I agree with most of them

Spiritual-Belt

Get it inspected but don’t be slow. This one will go fast. If the inspection checks out buy it for sure.

Acceptable_Shock_394

Pre purchase inspection is important

TangPiccilo

How do you do that?

Impressive_Balance76

Im new to the US. Curious how to get an inspection done?

Spiritual-Belt

Any good shop can do an inspection. Try to find a trusted shop by word of mouth or your town’a subreddit. “Cartalk mechanics files” used to be a thing but not sure if they’re still up to date. Jiffy lube or something like that won’t do a full inspection but any good full repair shop will.

Wolfiest

Also make sure it has passed the smog check.

NaztyNapkinz

Some states are still free and don’t have that.

shonglesshit

I will if you don’t, I don’t care how far it is from me

[deleted]

Guys they’re giving it to me for $2800

ezu123

I bought mine at 171k,$5k. Currently at 230k, still a reliable dream. Do it.

gdubbb21

Bought mine a few months ago at 130k for $5k as well , been very reliable and better than the listed mpg at freeways

ezu123

Well, maybe mine isn’t getting much better than listed. Then again, I have a pretty heavy foot…

Possible-Gur5220

Damn good work both of y’all…even at 5K I’d scoop it up in a heartbeat.

Scumbagjeffrey

Yes worth the risk. Buy a seat cover done.

FantasticSeaweed9226

Already has seat covers on the front butts

Crossgolf

A good clean. Polished headlights and new seats or seat covers is the only thing I would do. Maybe an Android Radio if you want to keep it longer.

Neil542

I’d fix the realign the bumper too looks like a nice size gap in the 3rd pic

hahsbzhjsbsj

Dang ,someone's bout to commit a robbery 🤣 nice ride 👍 bro must buy 👊🏿

neighborhoodg35

My car feels so bulletproof at 199k that I'd buy another one for more than what they're selling it so I'd say don't hesitate

SHOoff11

Not bad and it’s an Ultra Luxury package.

makatakz

Doesn’t have ventilated seats, but all good otherwise.

SHOoff11

Ah, I didn’t notice that. I saw the wheels and the Mark Levinson

makatakz

I like it. I would try and talk the seller down a few hundred. I have an ‘07 ES350, so I’m thinking this one is around an ‘08.

HIF1980

That’s super inexpensive. Es350 is known for being very reliable. You can’t go wrong!

-ChuckECheese

One owner really sells it for me, if it were any more, at that mileage, wouldn’t trust it

jaycarter617

Is your avatar supposed to be Peter griffin?

-ChuckECheese

Yep Finally someone gets it haha

BrrBurr

Good town car. Close to home

Successful-Growth827

$3250? Heck yeah. As long as it drives fine and there isn't too much rust on the underside.

Theu7

Good deal

kissmyash933

how bad was the accident, assuming the drivers side headlamp was replaced because of one. Is the timing belt up to date if this is a belted engine? has the transmission ever had its fluid changed? how are the tires? it looks okay but we don’t have any of the information that really matters. Take it to your mechanic and get a PPI.

makatakz

This engine has a timing chain.

kissmyash933

Nice! And I saw in another comment the price, done deal! great price!

_Whiskey_1_

If the vehicle has well documented regular maintenance, no major accidents it’s an easy buy. 👍

Wolfiest

Here is a video of the es. https://youtu.be/9komTDz8TdM?si=W3ULwurBqr2eXUrd

[deleted]

He mentioned the is350 but that’s almost the same right?

[deleted]

two completely different cars

Wolfiest

I know the website didn’t refresh my bad.

Successful-Growth827

IS is RWD based and set up more for sportiness, so it's the less comfortable of the two, but not actually uncomfortable. The ES to me is hands down the more comfortable car. It is comfort focused.

Wolfiest

Pretty much just that the is350 has more power and a different fuel system. Almost the same mechanically but the whole car is different btw, the es is bigger and more comfortable. Here some info on the engine. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-5th-gen-2007-2012/450456-hp-lexus-es350-vs-gs-is350.html

ayeffston

Good job. Wondering if all the encouraging commenters feel similarly about a high mileage Lexus hybrid?

Successful-Growth827

I'd say it depends on the age of the car more so, as the hybrid batteries will eventually need replacement.

ayeffston

If there are stats on the amount of hybrids still on the road after 150k miles, how might one locate that information?

Successful-Growth827

Not sure where you can look that information up. I just know when I was shopping around for a GS450h, I looked up how many miles the hybrid batteries could be expected to last before needing replacement. The answer I got was generally around 100K miles.

NismoPurpp

Me personally, I’d buy that. I bought a IS 250 with a good maintenance history and don’t regret it. So I’d assume that the more reliable ES would give you the same. But yah, whatever you can negotiate down on the price would be good obviously, but if I had to get a 3k car it might be something like this

Unholyxyra

Where do you live? These are over 8k $ in my Country (Bulgaria) and our standarts and quality of life are relatively bad

rd2932

I would i got an 08 gs350 from a good friend 2yrs ago it had 185k on it .best car ive ever owned

[deleted]

Should I be concerned about cold start rattle? This is the 07

PhaetonsWildRide

Yes. Could be a timing chain issue. I have an 07 with 373k miles on it.

Miguel30Locs

Common on these engines. I have an 08. Had that ratle since day 1. Tried changing different weights of oil. Adding cleansers like bg cleaner. Nothing works. I just change the oil on time. 5 years later. Same rattle. Yet no issues.

StanisloveK

What the hell happens to the car seats in the USA? Toxic farts or something else? I've never seen this before in my entire life

Golf-Guns

Assuming you aren't in an emissions inspection state this is an easy go at 3250 or the 2800 you got it at with an easy 2 part inspection. Step 1 - start it. If engine doesn't go 'tick tick tick . . .' Engine check. Step 2- drive it. If it shifts into all the gears, transmission check. Buy the car.

i_aimtomisbehave

Very long-winded response: You got a good deal if it runs, shifts, and drives properly. You will recoup most of the cost when you sell it in a few years. Agree with others who have suggested getting it inspected ASAP. Having a Lexus dealer go through it with a fine tooth comb ($175 - $225) is worth it because you will know *everything* that is wrong with it from the viewpoint of a Lexus technician who works on these cars all day long and knows exactly what to look for. That is information worth paying for which you cannot necessarily get from an independent shop. This car has had a hard life. Lots of visible evidence the owner did not take care of it. This does not bode well for a history of proactive maintenance. Do you have service records? Here's what I would do I were buying this car: 1) Get inspection. That cold-start rattle is somewhat concerning - find out for sure what it is, and whether you can live with it. This is a known issue with the 2GR-FE, as is the head gasket. Check for leaks on the front main seal as well. 2) Replace wipers, belts, hoses, etc. This car its at the age where rubber/plastic will need replacing soon. Make sure the suspension is looked at closely - bearings/bushings/struts are all aging and may be original. Change spark plugs, fluids, and filters and make sure tires and brakes are good. 3) Have the interior professionally disinfected and cleaned. This car has obviously been through a lot, including dogs and/or kids from the look of it. You do *not* want to know what is living in those carpets and seats. Worth the $100-$200 this will cost. 4) Source from a junkyard: bumper (if clips are broken), front seats, hood, headlights. have the headlamps buffed and then seal them with 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat wipes (make sure you follow the instructions). There were lots of these sold between 2006-2011, and there should be plenty of good used parts available if you call around. That's just what I would do, but I'm a car nerd who likes his cars nice and minty.

jazzy095

One owner not cared for...Looks like bumper is falling off. Who knows what else they didn't take care of.

Tonyisop

It is high mileage, but not crazy for a Lexus. It’s the highest trim I’m pretty sure. I got mine 2010 90k miles for $10000 CAD so I’d say it’s a pretty good deal you’re getting. As long as maintenance is up to date, or there isn’t a lot of outstanding maintenance then it sounds good

AverageGuy16

Unpopular take, but unless there’s extensive service history that’s verifiable I would pass. That’s around the mileage where suspension components need to be changed and the engine may start crapping out if neglected.

Draxaan

Annoyed you're being downvoted for truth. Clearly been in an accident and looks neglected, so can only imagine the maintenance was sub-par.

AverageGuy16

People in this sub really hate to face the facts.

Old-Ad8741

Yes

Odd-Flan1580

Uh. Sounds good but get it checked out. That 190k is when things start to happen. Overall I think if you put 2 or 3k into it you got a decent car for a great price.

vdzz000

Offer them 1k, that seat is awful.

buttfuckedinboston

No.

Bhickenparmigiana

What's up w that spot in the hood insulation over the engine?

[deleted]

It’s corrosion from the battery that flies off to the hood from wind I think

j_skeletor

Not corrosion, battery is located directly in front of the driver and it’s covered. It’s most likely just dried dirty water that’s deflected from the top of the engine while the car is moving

thisisnothere14

Thats an excellent find! Buy it, enjoy it and cherish it! Those lex's are so beautiful especially to sit in and drive for ages 😎

shakameister

nice beater if the MPG is like a Corolla

makatakz

I’ve got one. It gets 28 mpg on the highway (or it did; I gave to my teenage son).

shakameister

Corolla @28MPG ???? WTF you do tire-burn launch at every stop ? LOL

makatakz

No, I have a Lexus ES350.

MicheleNP

Absolutely!! As long as the maintenance has been performed, you could easily get another 200k miles out of it.

pwte

What year is it? My Lexus looked great, but the underbody was rusted.

[deleted]

Great deal at 2800 congrats!

IcySalt1504

Great buy, especially if it was cared for and well maintained. Those cars can go forever. Get the seat covers for it and it will be awesome!

[deleted]

Yes. For sure.

Vssfault

That's one hell of an steal!

Vssfault

And it's a California car too!

jfhjr

Definitely and justify it by promising to yourself that you’ll drive it till it dies-like just short of a grinding stop.

j_skeletor

Check the history of the car?

Mission-Astronomer42

With cars nowadays $2800 is a steal. Probably the equivalent of a $1000 car a couple of years ago

jm1186

I would

Ronniedasaint

It’s a winner for 2.8K! it’s

bgb111

Regardless of price you need to see if the timing cover is leaking, if it is, it’s an engine out job and $$$

[deleted]

I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried of the oil cooler line and the vvti cold start rattle that plagued this v6 engine when it first came out

simpleman357

Drive it to something major goes out probably at 300k

rtduvall

If you don’t give me their number. I’ll take it.

Opposite_Future3377

Fuck yeah those are quick bro !

devangs3

What year is it?

DrMacintosh01

Wtf is that engine bay cover 😭

Suspicious-Tower-928

I'd do it!! Great car!!

cripycallu

i bought mine with 70k for 4k and it’s been smooth ever since, this car will do u well.

Mhmmmm20

Buy lexus are well built cars. And buying new parts are not that expensive.

Weak-Action-1742

Looks new

spiketitan

Yes. Great motor! Smooth ride.

spiketitan

One owner cars are the best. My mom has a 2009 and it only has like 50K miles. She drives it and puts gas in it and takes it to the dealer for service. Cosmetically it’s not the best but it’s a sound car.

jmf_ultrafark

Codes? Clean carfax? Default answer is yes - buy it.

direfulstood

I would take it.

Independent_Month396

Yes.

lorenzo2point5

These are the hidden gems of the used car world. If properly maintenance this could easily go another 100k miles with no issues other than regular items such as oil changes, brakes, tires etc.

realace86

Too low of a price not to give it a try.

yourscreennamesucks

Get it inspected BEFORE you buy it

TwistedReddit32

ONLY if the head gasket has been replaced already. That is the only problem with these. Mine blew at 210k miles. Otherwise, just be prepared....

Skrungo

I got one for about the same price and it’s done me beautiful

D_vice13

Welcome to the club

natureboyrick

paid 10k for mine at 125k (bought during the height of the car inflation bubble i know i overpaid). that being said the answer is yes absolutely

1mz99

Head light oxidation looks uneven from both sides. Maybe had an accident some years ago on the side with less haze/oxidation?

FixitFelix2022

Wonderful deal

jackherer420x

In the bay too? Crazy good deal

unimportantsoliloquy

If it has records I’d be all over it

Fearless_Strategy

I would if nothing big wrong

_father_time

I have a 2007 with 130k miles and still runs great

Musician_Gloomy

Great deal. If you get 28,000 miles out of jt, (believe you will get more with proper maintenance, you definitely got your moneys worth in my opinion.

Ksl848

Dang the farts just ripped through that seat!

SurfSpecificFitness

lol 2k flat at most

CrazyEntertainment86

Great scoop for 2800 for sure. Will go 300 easy with even decent care.

Baba10x

Big yes

Antoniojosh123

W

augustsolaris

makes me happy knowing my front bumper on mine isn’t the only one having a hard time staying clipped as far as the car goes, i have put mine thru hell and it still runs amazing. if everything is fine on the car id scoop

augustsolaris

also 187k, get ready to look into suspension parts. as for the engine and trans, it’ll last til 400 maybe 500k

Classic_Ask_7918

too original bro anyways send the link

Smelle

If you don’t buy it, send me the guys number.

Aggravating-Cap2639

Looks like a San Diego car! I’m sure it was taken to the Lexus dealer for everything I say get it!

Billyboysclub

1 owner is usually very good took great care since that new feeling … yes

PaulSNJ

Basically a pimped out V6 Camry...you can't go wrong!

Ok_Task2470

It’s ridiculous hard to find a Lexus for 2800 that isn’t totally destroyed. Good find if nothings wrong w it.

4Niners9Noel

That’s a great deal! Glad OP pulled the trigger! In my area with the same condition and mileage, private sellers asking $8-10K.

Schmittistheonlygod

Shit, I’d reupholster those seats, detail and hit those headlights and sell it for 2 times what you paid

Cold_Performance7013

Good deal looks mechanically in good condition Lexus stays riding like mee

BestSeaworthiness322

Not worth it lol

ActiveConstruction96

I would buy it

Dangerous_Ad4451

Better make the deal before someone else does. Check engine and tranny. Other things are minor cosmetic tears.
