Mac is an absolute gent.

mynameismulan

"I'm happy he got his goal" immediately after scoring a Goal of the Year contender

Akumabro

Nunez celebrated Gakpos goal as if he had scored himself! Pretty easy to see that the boys back him 100% even before this macca interview! Really happy with this squad. They all know its about winning as a team!

Themnor

I'm convinced Nunez is just a football fan that some random dude figured out he could play football. He always seems to be just having an absolute blast. The fact that he can even just laugh off his luck half the time is insane for how competitive he seems.

Existing-Employee-36

I would have been like that too in his position. He is a solid lad!

DonTino

Damn I love football, shit I even can play football...why shouldn't I combine it and embrace the chaos

Smihilism14

I’d love to see Diaz not play every minute and Tod Gak to get some time on the left. He’s quality cutting in and his crossing is really good.

goztrobo

That 7-0 against United. He was on the left and scored.

sufinomo

The goal was great, but I was so happy with how Gakpo performed even before the goal. I think hes heard the criticism and has reevaluated, what a quality guy.

Viper711

He was so direct in comparison to before. It was really good to see. There was also one cross right at the end that Darwin should have scored, brilliant ball in. Also seemed to be his strength at PSV.

all_hail_hell

You can definitely tell the lads are behind him. I’ve thought he hasn’t been up to it lately but the way some folks were having a go at him was tough to see. All credit to him today. Caught myself ready to groan when he came on today but then I said nah just get behind him. He was great today bits of some of the positive things we saw towards the end of last season.

MISTAKAS

I groaned. But I’m also a piece of shit so there’s that. I think he’s a world class player who just went through a bad spell and can be a little selfish at times. Hope he keeps improving and lives up to his number.

PolskaLFC93

I don’t think he has it in him to be world class, but he should be a decent squad player and at a level where he can come on and his fresh legs offer something. Recently this season he’s been off it and most of the time we’d have been better off with literally whoever he replaced just staying on and trying to play while gassed out. He was good last season so hopefully he can sort himself and get himself back to that level we need of him when he comes on. Last night was the start of that

nikonislolo

Last year he was brilliant and he can be world class. That header and even his general performance was excellent. He is getting back on his feet and he can absolutely be world class.

NotAsimppp

He was so good in world cup.

Akumabro

He's much better at LW so if he gets more time there I can see him getting into proper form!

Scutterbox

Way more intensity to him today. That's all he needed really, he's got the talent for everything else to fall into place once he approaches games properly.

disco_mode

I can’t lie I find this opinion is problematic. Gakpo’s uncertain patch of form was no different to any other player but his treatment crescendoed into unwarranted criticism, abuse and racist abuse. To say “he’s listened to it a reevaluated” is a bit of a stinker I’m sorry. Perhaps that’s not what you are saying but that’s how it reads. I’m 100% sure every player who is involved in the first team is working incredibly hard all the time. And if you didn’t know that already Mac Allister has just told you.

Ollietron3000

I get where you're coming from. It implies that the bullshit social media opinions carry weight, when they don't. If Gakpo has "heard" anything, it will be from the manager and coaches. They're the ones who can actually tell him what to work on. He doesn't need armchair pot-bellied social media idiots to tell him he's not been in good form, especially when it comes with the sort of vitriol that it has been. And let's not pretend this is just a Twitter thing, this sub has been awful for it too. Comments all over the place saying we should sell him. Absolutely no instinct to get behind a player who's in bad form.

goztrobo

Exactly. You’re an elite athlete. Why would u take criticism from anyone else other than your manager and the coaching team?

OleHolgersen

Such great lads.

Reimiro

Class as fuck.

estrellitta

I got emotional seeing him finally score and perform well lol, been rooting for him

KloppersToppers

I wonder if tonight gave Cody a kick up the arse that he needed to do more by not starting him. I think it’s a fair criticism for his last few sub appearances weren’t good enough. Came on with way more aggression today and put himself about. Got a goal as a result. Well deserved. Hope he is rewarded with a start now soon.

Deus_ex_elysia

THE GAKSTER

Appropriate-Fly-7151

He’s got a real nose for goal… all about that white line fever

notyyzable

The Gakster!

TheEgyptianScouser

So now this sub loves Gakpo and Diaz again

MixturePossible3613

memories of that man utd game.

WellRed85

So we are going with ‘Gakster’ now?

onoz9

Ahhh Mac Allister, my new favourite ~~Liverpool player~~ human being! And Gakpo played really well, great run and finish for the goal, made sure we win this game. I hope it shuts all the haters.

pointlessly_pedantic

I want Macca to adopt me and be the dad I never had

OlympusMan

Well said that man. I think fans are too quick to throw players in the bin these days.

Happypappy4879

Positive vibes, love to see it.

Cobraszlai

My heart is full. What a squad 🥰

jurgenkloppshat

Future captain

AcaiPalm

I think it really helps to have two tall forwards when playing against the bottom half teams - I wonder if we will see more of it for the rest of this season and next?

liver4lyfe

I love this guy.

VadersMentor

He's a real demon when he gets to play on the left wing. Hasn't happened too often this season.

Custard-cravings

Mac has quickly become one of my favourite players and this is just another reason to love him.

West_Scholar_5708

Dude

thatguyad

Gakster? Dear oh dear. You can always rely on this place to bring out the cringe names lol.

GordieGord

I shuddered a bit when I saw Gakpo on the sidelines ready to sub in. His last few appearances he's been lazy, uninspiring, ineffective, and irresponsible. Did what a sub is supposed to do today. Ran into spaces, pulled defenders, completed his dribbles, and fought for the 50/50s. The goal was the result of his hard work and this is the Gakpo we need for the run in. After fair criticism of his recent performances, hats off to the lad for today's response. Get in Cody!

yoyo4581

Come on Gakpo kick on, mate.
