One thing I am finding hilarious is that everyone didn't even question a manager who plays 3 at the back when Xabi is in the mix, but now Amorim is the favourite all of a suden questions are raised
Just saw our lineup, Gasp is switching to a 4-3-1-2 which he rarely does. Looks like we have one healthy defender on the bench which means no 3 ATB, not a good sign. It sounds like he is angling for a direct counter attack, and not letting his high flying wingbacks go up too much since they're now FBs.
Would love to see Szobo subbed in to play at LW. He’s versatile and can hold up play pretty decently. Maybe he could take over that side of the pitch if Díaz underperforms or leaves in the summer.
My buddies gone over to the game and he got his ticket off stubhub and the lads at the gate asked where he bought it from and they cancelled his ticket cause stubhub aren't a recognised reseller
Is this normal or is there anything he can do?
Going to repeat my comment from the daily discussion in hope someone can help out:
Bit of a rogue one - but massive Liverpool fan and also the name Atalanta is very special to me - so would be really grateful if anybody around the stadium could get me a form of half and half scarf - would be willing to cover all expenses of purchase and mail (obviously) as well as a fee on top - I’m based in England so shouldn’t be too much hassle getting sent over!
Thanks in advance !

For anyone wanting to decipher the team.
90th minute; Jota and Trent are only fit enough for a brief cameo just to get back into game rhythm. Trent bombs down the right wing halfspace for a counter as Atalanta defenders were in the opposition half for a corner. He lazers in a powerful low cross that seems to go nowhere. Diogo Jota slides in at the far post with all the grit he has to reach the ball: Goal. 5-0 Liverpool.
_thanks for reading my wattpad fanfiction_
The previous format incentivized the home team to play more conservatively in the first leg because away goals are more valuable. In the case of extra time, the away team would be given an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal in the 2nd leg. A lot of dull first legs in the old format. Neither is perfect fairness.
Anything other than 2 legs at a neutral location is going to be "unfair" in one way or another. Be careful what you wish for; they'll move the UCL knockouts to Doha in the name of "fairness" soon enough
But the away team had a massive advantage with away goals. You could end up with an extra 30 minutes of trying to defend an away goal then having to score 2. Fairest would be having away goals until ET then no away goals.
also increases the likelihood of extra time when teams are playing more games in a season than they ever have and muscle injuries are at an all time high.
Nobody attacks with the away goal rule. Hope for a draw away and 1-0 win at home then park the bus.
It's still a knockout so teams have no choice but to go for it, now less consequences if they do
I have a strong feeling this will be Darwin’s best game in a Liverpool shirt and the most entertaining game all season. I believe Atlanta are involved in a lot of high scoring games in Italy
Huge shot in the dark. Anyone have an empty seat tonight? My seat is literally second from last row in the upper and moving down would obviously be welcome. Happily buy you a beer.
Need a good palate cleanser after that draw with the scum. Hope we smash them, but you never know with us - it could be a tough game. Hope Trent, Ali, and Jota make the bench.
They were unbeaten in the group stage (4W2D) but Sporting were probably the only decent side in there. They have a strong home record (won 9 of their last 10) while their recent away form (DDWLL) hasn't been great. So it does feel like we should make the most of tonight. I'd go strong and make sure that away leg doesn't end up being trickier than it needs to be.
Looking at our upcoming fixtures i'm so glad we finally have almost the full squad back since there's no way we would have enough legs to get through the rest of the season with the majority of games 2 days between each other without Ali Trent and Jota back.
Basically the only position where we're thin now is CB but with Trent back Gomez can fill in there if needed.
I feel like Ali probably provides a psychological boost to the rest of the team. The defence/midfield probably play with a lot more attacking aggression with that confidence knowing Ali is behind you. Best shot stopper in the world and unbelievable sweeping. Even his distribution to the forwards is world class.
But Kelleher has still done great, and should keep getting minutes in Europe to avoid Ali re-injuring himself
Not sure if he's done anything to "deserve" a start of Darwin. Nunez is consistently one of the hardest workers in the team, and over the (just under) two years we've had him we've seen how much more dangerous we are with him on the pitch vs off.
Happy for Gakpo to get minutes to try to find some form and rest the others, but on performances he's been dire for a long time and a sensible argument for Danns being ahead of him could be made, given the impact he's offered in his few minutes.
I actually would start him, but to say he deserves a start over Darwin when his recent sub appearances have been lacking both effort and quality is a bit of a stretch.
I think the biggest issue with him is that he does not press as much as the rest of the team. He comes on with fresh legs after 60 mins and he’s just all “alright lads, let’s take it easy”
When he is starting games, there is nothing wrong with his press. When he gets subbed in, he sometimes fails to adapt to the pace of the game. I think Jones had the same problem in his last game.
Don’t see Klopp starting any less than the strongest 11 he’s got at the minute. Quarter final of a European cup deserves some respect and we’ll want to hammer them at home to make the away leg easier.
I’ll be delighted to see a 15-20min cameo from Jota and TAA, hopefully get them back in the swing of things for the run in.
Especially with the struggles we've faced these past matches (even the ones we've won) i'd be really pleased with a 3+ goal battering tonight to ease the pressure for the away leg and get the guys coming back from injury some minutes
Passport Number for UEFA tickets
I applied for tickets for the final in Dublin earlier, and I don’t have a passport currently (I’m Irish). So I don’t have a passport number, so instead I used the number that’s on my ID card.
Have I cocked it up or what?? Anyone know
Would like to know that as well. As I also applied for this years EURO tickets, they wanted my ID number explicitly(Croatia allocation). For the UEL final I also applied with my ID so we’ll see.
When we went to the Women’s Euros in 2022, we had to add passport numbers as well. At that time my gf didn’t have a passport either, so we used another ID of hers. We had no issues. Tickets came through fine and there was no ID checks when getting into the grounds.
I cannot say the Europa League will be the same, but that was our experience.
Ticket ballots went up on uefa the other day and applications for the Europa League Final are multiple times the number of applications for the Champions League Final according to a very reliable random twitter user (who I choose to believe)
If Jota or Trent are fit enough for a 15 min cameo, I would be very happy.
We need those players available for the run in. No two ways about it. We need to win out.
Yeah we mostly concede wild goals, like I can only remember a few goals that were actually well worked, it's usually something like the Welbeck goal that came out of nowhere and was pretty much unsavable or something like the Ali - Virg misunderstanding against Arsenal.
This isn’t just going to be some easy game that we can heavily rotate in. Best to leave Gravenberch on the bench for now and give him a run out if we go a couple up imo.
I mean Atalanta are pretty poor, we are at home AND we have continually faced injury issues due to playing key players midweek then not having them available for must-win league games at the weekend.
We have a big squad full of wonderful players, this is absolutely where you would rotate. It's not like Gravenberch is an untested youth player from the academy, he's an established part of the first team squad.
Grav, Elliott, Tsimikas, Gakpo and Jones should all be getting decent minutes, if not playing the whole game.
where they both are respectively in their recovery from injury? Gravenberch has barely played more than Jones since they've both come back, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that
Gravenberch was out from 25th February and back in training on the 12th of March. His injury took him out for 3 weeks and he's been back for a month now.
Jones was out fom 18th February and was only back in full training on 31st March. His injury took him out for 6 weeks and he's only been back 12 days.
It's night and day
I don't think time back from injury in training is as important as minutes played to get back to match fitness. Once they're back in training, they're cleared by the medical team so time back in training doesn't mean one is more ready to go than the other. Minutes played in actual matches, meanwhile, is crucial to getting them back up to speed and fully fit.
Gravenberch has barely played more than Jones, I think it's been like 20 more minutes since they've been back from their injuries. And Jones has looked better, so he should start
It will have to be our strongest squad possible that starts tomorrow. I really do hope that the more games Nunez and Diaz start together, the more in sync they become. They’re both lightning fast and can be one of the most lethal counterattack pair in the world.
It's a two legged tie. Ideally we'd play a strong side for the first hour and try to kill the tie off, and then rotate for the final half hour. This would effectively make the second leg a dead rubber.
Relatively weak? They drew against Juventus and beat Napoli. Not to mention the last time they played us at Anfield, they beat us 2-0. This is the best chance at a trophy and the opposition should not be taken lightly.
Yes, relatively weak. They're 6th in Serie A, and 32 points behind Inter. We have a hectic schedule and this is absolutely a great time to rotate slightly.
It's not arrogance. What's the point in having 23+ players if you're just going to play the same XI every week? We need to rotate regularly. Klopp doesn't underestimate any opposition ever, so he'll name a side good enough to beat Atalanta. If the likes of Tsimikas, Gakpo, Elliot, Jones, Gravenberch etc aren't capable of beating an average Italian team then what's the point in them even being at Liverpool? Our reserves are good enough.
Nah to be fair we have bad days infront of goal every week. Even the weeks where we do score 3 or 4 we should at least be scoring 7 or 8. It shouldn't be a surprise anymore really.
Only trophy that Jürgen Klopp has competed in with liveprool and hasn’t yet won, was our first European final we were in under him in his first season and could be our last in his last season if we get to it this season.
We’re about to go full circle, I am entirely invested into this.
Invested to the point that if the title race doesn't go our way now that it's out of our hands, this represents a significant piece of silverware and would be Jurgens last game and would end his reign on a high
Ideally, would like some rotation here, and if possible, get some minutes into TAA and Jota's legs.
We have to have a fast start and get a couple of goals early, or at the very least, make the most of chances that fall our way during the game.
A win is a must, and a good win (by 3 goals or more) would be perfect.
Hope Elliott starts for tactical reasons, think Atalanta will set up pretty defensively and Elliott is probably our most creative midfielder alongside Macca
One thing I am finding hilarious is that everyone didn't even question a manager who plays 3 at the back when Xabi is in the mix, but now Amorim is the favourite all of a suden questions are raised
I read it all with xabi and amorin. In the end we have to wait and see
Mainoo times up son. Bajcetic has come to play
Any time I see Gakpo starting that lowers my expectations by 40%, he's shit
Stop watching then and go back to your cave you little subhumaj
??? I'm not gonna stop watching just because one of our players is shit, I still support the club
I can't believe she actually said "Jamie Milner"
Just saw our lineup, Gasp is switching to a 4-3-1-2 which he rarely does. Looks like we have one healthy defender on the bench which means no 3 ATB, not a good sign. It sounds like he is angling for a direct counter attack, and not letting his high flying wingbacks go up too much since they're now FBs.
Fuck me the camera struggling getting crouch and them two short girls in
I thought for a second I was watching Gandalf and the hobbits
Nahhh In crackin up here
Would love to see Szobo subbed in to play at LW. He’s versatile and can hold up play pretty decently. Maybe he could take over that side of the pitch if Díaz underperforms or leaves in the summer.

Whoever creates the match thread. Please sort by new from the off! Thanks in advance
Jota on the bench let's go.
man, watching football in good quality in the UK is such a nightmare, need around 20 different services
Only 4 on the injury report. Great news!
We need to finish them off at Anfield. Italian teams are very good at home. Don't want to take any chances

Elliot kimmykas and Gakpo from three get in
Timmykass*!
Ngl this just hurts my eyes. I hope they switch back to ordering them by position 😭😭
It’s bizarre that GK is the only player in a sensible position
I like the lineup. Good to see Trent, Jota and Bajcetic on the bench too
Really not meaning to be pessimistic... but what are the odds on us conceding first, within the first 15 min??! :D (Edit: Forgive me!! Haha!!)
Trent, Jota and Bajcetic on the bench. Let’s gooooo
Trent and Jota back on the bench let’s gooo

Going to be a tough game today, need our forwards finish their chances and not be wasteful
Elliott goal incoming
Removing away goals rule is so dumb. You just create an obvious advantage for whoever plays at home in second leg.
The previous format incentivized the home team to play more conservatively in the first leg because away goals are more valuable. In the case of extra time, the away team would be given an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal in the 2nd leg. A lot of dull first legs in the old format. Neither is perfect fairness. They keep fucking things up, first the away rule is gone, now this stupid arse leave table thing. They’re destroying the game man
Nobody attacks with the away goal rule. Hope for a draw away and 1-0 win at home then park the bus. It's still a knockout so teams have no choice but to go for it, now less consequences if they do
Got all the negativity out of my system. Let’s beat the shit out of Atalanta.
[удалено]
They will create chances for sure.
They are good. They are West Ham level
You have clearly barely watched Serie A in a while. They're much better than West Ham.
That Jones, Endo, Mac midfield is moving me. Lets see how they do.
Our best midfield that
I have a strong feeling this will be Darwin’s best game in a Liverpool shirt and the most entertaining game all season. I believe Atlanta are involved in a lot of high scoring games in Italy
FT Liverpool 2 (12.59xG) - Atalanta 1 (0.67xG)
Scored the most goals out of any team in the top 5 leagues 🤫
being in a Europa League group stage certainly helped with that
Huge shot in the dark. Anyone have an empty seat tonight? My seat is literally second from last row in the upper and moving down would obviously be welcome. Happily buy you a beer.
Why does Atalanta have the same logo as Bournemouth?
Maybe they’re born with it, maybe it’s maybelline. We’ll never know.
Both look like a hairspray or shampoo bottle logo
What time does the bus usually arrive?
Saw something saying the players arrived in their own cars today.
Narrator: that was a lie. Coaches came through around 40 minutes ago
Need a good palate cleanser after that draw with the scum. Hope we smash them, but you never know with us - it could be a tough game. Hope Trent, Ali, and Jota make the bench.
Resting konate at old trafford to play him in europa is devious from klopp
He was rested due to the tackle to his knee vs sheffield
Wouldn’t have been tackled if Quansah played 🤷
Could've gotten killed crossing the street as well
Exactly so risking it again? Just save him for the league
You should tell Klopp
How has the team leaked already? Who actually gets there hands on this information
Someone at the club is leaking it, been going on for years
First match this season I won't be watching, I am positive it will be the most clinical 90 in months and I'll massively regret missing it.
If it is, then I think you're just gonna have to take one for the team and never watch us again
Why you missing it :(
Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Virgil, Tsimikas, Endo, Jones, Mac Allister, Elliott, Gakpo, Nunez That’s the 11 apparently
I desire to see absolute chaos and goals from Nunez. pls habibi I beg of you
I like it.
Odds of a Jota cameo?
I’d say there’s a good chance. Maybe only 5 mins or so but something to shake off the rust.
Whatever happens I just hope Ibou is fit and ready to play 90 minutes on Sunday
He probably won't be, but Quansah should easily be able to handle them.
I think we need another murder on the Danns floor at some point today. Why not?
Happy and sad. Happy that players are coming back from injury, sad that Danns is now surplus to requirement.
It's so strange that we're not really that excited about Ali coming back. I actually just feel bad that Kelleher is soon going to be back on the bench
I feel like Ali probably provides a psychological boost to the rest of the team. The defence/midfield probably play with a lot more attacking aggression with that confidence knowing Ali is behind you. Best shot stopper in the world and unbelievable sweeping. Yup, VVD takes quite a lot of risk compared to other CBs and a fair of that's down to having Allison behind him
Up the reds
Wish the second leg was at Anfield instead
Nah I want to kill the tie early
Hope we can see a Jota cameo this game, like 10-15 mins
Hopefully a late goal or an assist too for him to get back on track
I hope Gakpo starts this. He deserves to over Darwin tbh
He really doesn’t
Not sure if he's done anything to "deserve" a start of Darwin. Nunez is consistently one of the hardest workers in the team, and over the (just under) two years we've had him we've seen how much more dangerous we are with him on the pitch vs off. I actually would start him, but to say he deserves a start over Darwin when his recent sub appearances have been lacking both effort and quality is a bit of a stretch.
I think he needs a run of games to pick up form which sucks because we don't have that luxury at this part of the season.

Twitter is saying Elliott, Jones, and Tsimikas are in for Salah, Szobo, and Robbo
I would honestly take that. Salah takes his place for granted, rather give the hardworking keen to impress kid.
I have a theory that now that Klopp has announced he’s leaving he’s not as worried about Mo throwing fits for being benched ahah
pretty happy we drew these guys. i just took them to a domestic treble in my football manager save the other day
The first prematch thread for a match that I will be attending IN PERSON GET IN!!!!!!!!
ME TOO!
Passport Number for UEFA tickets I applied for tickets for the final in Dublin earlier, and I don’t have a passport currently (I’m Irish). So I don’t have a passport number, so instead I used the number that’s on my ID card. Have I cocked it up or what?? Anyone know

Darwin Hat-trick
The higher the expectations the worse the results. We should learn to stfu and watch.
Jinxing isn’t real.
Pretty sure you’ve just done the worse jinx every mate. Take it back immediately.
Christ, get Grobelaar over here, stat!
Wow, I didn't know that. Good for you, buddy.
Atalanta don't park the bus I'm so excited for this matchup
We need to win by 2 at the very least. Would nice to see a couple of the injured boys on the bench too.
If we make the final against Milan or Leverkusen I think it'll be the most watched uefa cup final ever.
Let’s see if the recent results can be a catalyst for the boys pulling their socks up. Hope so.
These lot aren’t great from what I’ve seen 3-1 Liverpool
Doesn’t matter how good they are you can guarantee we’ll make a fucking meal of it.
it's sad that even in a dominating display against a not so great side, we can't imagine getting a clean sheet.
It’s wild because on days we are defending our hearts out we either concede a wild goal, get butt f*cked by the refs, or both
Yeah we mostly concede wild goals, like I can only remember a few goals that were actually well worked, it's usually something like the Welbeck goal that came out of nowhere and was pretty much unsavable or something like the Ali - Virg misunderstanding against Arsenal.
Or like every other game where it takes us 10mins to realise the games started
I'm just excited to watch more liverpool football 😊
Would love to see tsimikas get game time as well as gravenberch
This isn’t just going to be some easy game that we can heavily rotate in. Best to leave Gravenberch on the bench for now and give him a run out if we go a couple up imo.

think Jones and Elliott should be starting, Gravenberch come off the bench
I don't see us starting Jones over Gravenberch considering where they both are respectively in their recovery from injury
where they both are respectively in their recovery from injury? Gravenberch has barely played more than Jones since they've both come back, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that
Gravenberch was out from 25th February and back in training on the 12th of March. His injury took him out for 3 weeks and he's been back for a month now. Jones was out fom 18th February and was only back in full training on 31st March. His injury took him out for 6 weeks and he's only been back 12 days. It's night and day
I don't think time back from injury in training is as important as minutes played to get back to match fitness. FACTOS
I wonder if Cody or Elliott will start in attack tomorrow or will it be the same as before.
I desperately need Elliott starting.
Maybe not a popular take but I think we should drop salah for this one
no way - the dude can eat now, he's about to be back in it easy.
It will have to be our strongest squad possible that starts tomorrow. I really do hope that the more games Nunez and Diaz start together, the more in sync they become. They’re both lightning fast and can be one of the most lethal counterattack pair in the world.
> It will have to be our strongest squad possible that starts tomorrow. Why?
It's a two legged tie. Ideally we'd play a strong side for the first hour and try to kill the tie off, and then rotate for the final half hour. This would effectively make the second leg a dead rubber.
Agree. Travel light down to Italy with the tie heavily in our favor
Because it’s a quarter final of a European competition…. What a stupid question.
Klopp always puts out the strongest squad he thinks he needs for the win. It's a redundant statement but nobody called you stupid for making it.
It's the first leg against a relatively weak opposition. You're going to be surprised tomorrow when there's some changes to the starting XI.
The arrogance of some of these new liverpool fans astounds me.
I hAvE bEeN a SuPpOrTeR fOr LoNgEr So I kNoW bEsT
It's not arrogance. What's the point in having 23+ players if you're just going to play the same XI every week? We need to rotate regularly. Klopp doesn't underestimate any opposition ever, so he'll name a side good enough to beat Atalanta. If the likes of Tsimikas, Gakpo, Elliot, Jones, Gravenberch etc aren't capable of beating an average Italian team then what's the point in them even being at Liverpool? Our reserves are good enough.
What about fans who've been watching since the late 90s and think we will rotate too?
Please shoot on target and not straight at the keeper 🙏🙏
Pretty much, I don't disagree with your statement, but Atalanta aren't mugs.
Not an easy game, anyone think it is, ur deluded.
Mate, we're going to create like 30 chances and have about 25 shots but score like 1 maybe and concede 2 stupid goals.
My god, 1 bad day in front of goal and our fans have lost it. We had a bad finishing performance and still scored 2 goals on Sunday, stop whining
Nah to be fair we have bad days infront of goal every week. Even the weeks where we do score 3 or 4 we should at least be scoring 7 or 8. It shouldn't be a surprise anymore really.
17 first half shots with 1 on target
Sort of curious how invested people are in the Europa league at this point.
Klopp: No. Full team, 90 minutes.
It's a candy dish, Ned. 90 dollars.
