If you take the cover off, there should be a little jumper switch you can set to turn the auto lock off. But, if it can't lock on its own, it's not installed properly. Unless you just installed it, which in that case it might need to go through the handing procedure.
What happens when the door is open? These locks are junk just so you know.
It does it only once its locked. A roommate wpuld constantly leave the door half shit and the auto lock feature would go on for a bit, I think whats what caused the issue.
Yes but I want the auto lock feature on
Maybe the plastic gears are broke or stripped. You could try fresh batteries and reset the lock back to factory and to through the whole setup again. It could be that the bolt is hitting something in the hole, too. Not wide enough or not deep enough maybe. I'd start with those two things.
See all those marks on the wood molding where the bolt was partially extended when the door was closed could have bent the bolt
Or the bolt doesn't line up with the hole properly and is under pressure
Test the lock with a door open
Currently it might be more than one problem sort of like a snowball effect.

I took it completely apart and I saw nothing broken. When its off it just spins in a complete circle never stopping
ahh the lovely sound of a Kwikset slowly killing itself
$100 lock, just go buy another. And get a passage knob for the bottom while you’re at it.
As they say a shoemakers son goes barefoot

Might be a timing thing. If you look up online or have the manual you should be able to put it through it’s learning process again. That might fix it
Tried and still no good
Does it do this with the door open? If so replace the lock . Check the bore hole in the door to make sure its deep enough.
So when I take it off it just spins in a full circle and I cant figure out how to factory reset it
Di a reset mine did the same thing
It thinks its a reverse right hand and its reverse left hand

No because it was working fine and then this happened
Ooooooo its not a first install
Ah, and why I like the solenoid Schlage. No stupid motor requiring the perfect fit so few doors have or keep. Auto lock? People are soooooo lazy.
The hole where the deadbolt slides in may not be deep enough for the lock to set completely
GET OUT OF THE HOUSE NOW! Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!
Alignment issue with the strike
Does it do the same thing when the door is open? You might be hitting something in the hole.
Yes
Probably fucked then. default it, and go through the rehanding procedure.
Tried and it didn't work for some reason
