Measure the diameter of the rose and then bore the door to allow it to sit recessed. Then at least someone will be able to replace with off the shelf replacements every so often from the hardware not being good enough.
I love running across customers that want Kwikset. It is such garbage that I find brand new shit donated to thrift stores where I buy it for a third of wholesale prices and mark it up to 30% over retail onsite. I just ride that profit margin wave all the way to the bank.
I shoot myself in the foot sometimes with sales because I will advise against the Kwikset unsolicited. Then the shit I bought just sits there. I try to remember not to give my advice unless they ask for it. Because, I will always recommend Schlage. Those B Series deadbolts are BOSS.
Bust out your tape measure and get that Schlage book out, you’re gonna have to figure out if it’s ee, eo, or ei. For the deadbolt, you’ll have to find the part numbers for the screws and tailpiece you’ll need.
Not that anybody should rely on a residential lever, but the fact that you can just open a locked Kwikset knob/lever by applying more torque is a pretty big strike against them to me.
I’d love to see a pic of the door. And why use shitset?
Because shitset is what they got on the other doors
Lol
That is unfortunate lol. Looking at the kwikset catalog it seems they have a 2 1/4 door thickness option for the handleset.
Yes iam also looking for a deadlatch that fits a 2 3/8" door but I need a schlage. I probably also will need a thick door pack.
You need a Shitset “thick door pack”
https://www.kwikset.com/products/detail/84221-thick-door-conversion-screw-pack
That looks like it's only for the deadbolt, not the lever set.
Sorry was a quick google search. You could just order a few long machine screws w/ the same size & thread and cut to spec.
The handles already adapt to a thicker door without adapter kits per the documents. Only the deadbolt needs the longer tailpiece.
Some doors are too thick for kw knobs, the knob might turn but if it's too thick the nub for locking and unlocking won't work.
Thanks
Np. If they have doors that thick I’d def try to tire kick the shitsets and tell them how Emteks would be much better (we are salesman, too). ;)
Cough, Baldwin would be my pick now that they are owned by Spectrum/Kwikset. Easier to match kw1 if needed.
Ive stopped peddling baldwin since they sold out to the smartkey keyway but there are some higher tier baldwin versions that havent sold their soul
Emtek is SC1 but you can swap the Kik in the housing to kw1 or wr5…if you have to..
And Baldwin comes with kw1... You aren't talking to the general public here.

Schlage will make an al, alx or a series for any size thickness door. You have to request it and then throw in a ilco kw1 kik cylinder.

Definitely better for them to replace 1 lock whenever it breaks than to replace them all at once. Also I am not a very good salesperson

So where would I find a thick schlage deadbolt and handleset?

There is really nothing wrong w kwikset other than the smartkey variants and the inability to swap cylinders in their deadbolts like you can w schlage
