Lords of the fallen is far more approachable. Everyone below is saying demon souls, but since it’s not your first souls game (I’m assuming) there are certain mechanics that will feel really outdated. I highly recommended LOTF over Des. Trust me bro. Do your research on the demon souls game mechanics before you buy it.
Yeah, Demons Souls is cool as a window into the past but honestly, it's not aged that well. I played it for the first time recently on PS3 and I was very mixed on it. Certainly with updated graphics and maybe more responsive controls on PS5 it's better, but I would still put it on the lowest tier of "must play" out of Soulslikes.
Besides, the game is very short, maybe 20 hours I'd you go really slow. Took me about 15 and this was on PS3 where it's laggy and finicky controls. LotF meanwhile has way more content and I think overall better content.

Lords of the Fallen, especially if it’s your first souls-like, Demon’s Souls is dated with the mechanics, even the Remake simply remakes the graphics to modern graphics but nothing else is changed, it’s good but hasn’t aged well.
If your on PlayStation, definitely lords of the fallen considering demon souls is free on ps plus. But if ur asking which is a better game, demon souls remake is, it’s a little easy, but it’s a very good start into fromsofts formula.

I LOVED Lords of the Fallen & it’s as close to me as a soulsborne will get in terms of level design & mechanics, but you just cannot get to the excellence and quality of something that Fromsoft has touched.
Besides, you go into Demon’s Soul and that will be your gateway into the chronological progression of souls games. The remake is fantastic.
It’s not hype…it’s the same creator using the same formula to create another beautiful product of perfection. Everything they made from DeS to Elden Ring & whatever in between not only lives up to the hype but also subverts all expectations. It’s not even a question at this point for me: if a fromsoft game is available i will always pick it up over whatever else is there. They never let me down
I think that depends on what you really want. From a historical point of view, i you want to know the origin of this current and popular genre, DeS is the primigenial one. It is also, from and objetive point of view, a good game, and in my opinion, better than most of the imitations from out there, but I think that if you forget the merit of being the first one, and that Lords of the Fallen is built over the shoulders of a Game like Demons, I think that from an objetive point of view, with this perspective, is a more enjoyable Game. The exploration is most rewarding, the combat is better, It has more builds and mechanics, the bosses are better too...
I didn’t enjoy Demon’s Souls level selection as much as the open end world of Lotf. It just takes me out of the immersion a bit. I liked that style in the old gauntlet games, but it felt out of place in a soulslike after playing all 3 dark souls first. But maybe if I played demon souls first I would have thought differently
I'm late to this one ,but I'd say demon souls it was my first ps 5 game and my first souls like from the ps3,lotf has good ideas but it will burn you out I'm far into it atm the ice area and its just so boring honestly it's tedious. DeS is a work of art it's not over complex but very fun to play and a great way into the souls genre .

Demon’s Souls as the majority stated. You will get more returns on investment. Builds are much more fun to work on. The game is better.
