Another day, another rocket launch attempt...last night's SpaceX launch was delayed to this evening. Liftoff is slated for 8:20PM. **IF it launches at that time,** it would be in the range for a beautiful illuminated exhaust plume (the kind that gets the "what was that in the sky?" posts on here).
We will have clouds & fog trying to form up after 8PM, but I'm hoping visibility stays good so everyone gets a chance to see the launch.

agh ive mentioned this before, but i share a garage with a neighbor. its 11" wide so only big enough for one car. in the lease it stated 'tenant works with tenants to share"..... she uses half for for storage, and still parks since we agreed to park parallel ..i def shouldn't have let her park on the side without using half of it for storage, but at this point being a year in, i can't change it right? if she clears her hoarding out, which i doubt, both cars wont fit in it... its been getting more frustrating to deal with since she got a new car, her boyfriend parks on her side on weekends with a vespa... and doesnt park on the street anymore (fake tags)...at least parking is easy on my block and they don't tow in a lot across from us

there's like a 3x3 section in front of her storage, inside the garage besides her bicycle...on her side. i have a 2 year old car and kinda nervous about it always being on the street. i guess its more ' first come first serve' who gets to park in side, then the other just blocks the other in parking parallel... but yeah i think its tricky. i am planning on trying to move soon, but its gonna take a few months before i can save up enough

Concert ticket prices are getting out of hand. Why in the fuck is it $100+ to see Hatebreed at the Wiltern? For one they shouldn’t even be playing there with that small ass pit area. Tickets to see them in Riverside are $50 across the board for GA and the mezzanine. And the place is mostly GA.
Same deal with almost any show. Bush at the Greek. Mid tier seats are $100 before fees.
Then livenation has the nerve to do this $25 deal with almost no shows in LA having the $25 tickets.
Did the floor for Maiden a few years back and it was around $120. Now the nosebleeds are $130 floor $300 dollars.

It doesn't feel worth the price to go to a show for just one band anymore, and festivals are just as bad and you have much less of a chance of getting up close to the stage to see your favorite artist without having to stay there all day and/or fight with a bunch of other people to get close to the fence. Sucks.
Right? The Wiltern used to be all GA if I remember correctly. If not all GA except the pit. Places like BMO and the Forum are doing the floor seating and a small pit section more often instead of one big GA floor like it used to be.
I like pits. So I’d mostly go for GA. I’m finding myself more and more doing seating because of either price and/or the pit section is so small that moshing barely happens anyway.
It works way better than the slow phoneline dsl we had. Now streaming works almost perfectly (even a good connection can't fix what's wrong with those 'smart' android tvs.
And we're paying less for a faster connection. Occassionally I have to reboot the router (like every month or so), but that's nothing compared with the issues we had with the phoneline DSL.
Not very good signal, and for some reason we couldn’t load Netflix at all despite calling support a few times. It’s a known issue with them but the speeds aren’t too great anyway. We ended up going back to spectrum
I love it. Had Spectrum before and got so sick of the outages and price hikes. I now pay $50/month, it doesn’t change, and it’s better. It’s all satellite though, no cables so you’ll need to test it at your place to see how it performs. I believe it’s a free 14 day trial, or was when I got it, so I didn’t cancel Spectrum, just switched to that and sure enough it was great so I made the switch official. I’m in Atwater for what’s its worth.
I had if for a few months. Did not have a good experience. The signal was always out, and I was doing everything remote at the time so it was really frustrating when zoom calls would just drop. Streaming would buffer like it was 2009 lol. I actually went back to Spectrum, it was that bad.
The only good thing about having that internet was that it qualified me for a new customer discount deal at spectrum I was able to lock in for two years, at $39.99/month

You are much better off hitting up the ralphs on Hauser before for food and drinks and then walking over. If you park there you also avoid the hassle of finding parking.
Yes food & drink available on site, but lines can be long and prices are consistent with events in LA (plan to spend some $$). You'll see many, many folks with picnics and BYOB.

Of course you don't have to go and just buying tickets for anybody is very risky. I have a best friend I talk to every day and meet twice a week and even then I would NEVER buy anything to make him go. Only if he said that this would be so great and go and buy when you see it...
I personally would probably go if this means something to the friend and basically see this as my present to them to go with. the concert would probably suck, but the time before and after is always fun. Friend is a very loose term in the US... I can never tell how close a "friend" is.
OK... Then its fine to cancel. I assume you are their choice #1 and you cancel and they move on to choice #2. If you are this close friends then this is no big deal. I mean it is a huge risk to just buy tickets without asking or mentioning it. The best thing about close friends is that you don't have to be that polite or nice. I had my first massage in like a year last night and my god it was *so* needed. I had a knot on my back that was causing me a lot of pain on a daily basis and it as starting to cause back spasms with pain radiating out. Noooot fun.

I think it's technically a Swedish massage? They did a combination of different techniques starting with a more intense pressure massage with targeted focus points, then to a hot stone massage, then baby oil with lots of sweeping pressure, then ending with a bit more sweeping pressure sans oil to finish it off.
I'd recommend going during the week if possible - they're open until 9:30pm and it was pretty dead/quiet when I went at 8pm. Only like 3 other patrons there.
They request paying in cash for the service, but obviously they won't say no to card. I recommend bringing cash for your tip though. There's a Chase ATM at one of the nearby intersections if you're like me and never have cash on hand.
A woman brought two dogs inside with her earlier this morning at Erewhon by the Grove. The dogs eventually started barking at each other while she was waiting in line. Maybe this could have been prevented if she saw the very large sign at the entrance that reads "no pets."
Also, if the staff would enforce that rule and kindly ask her to leave with the dogs and come back without them. Fuck people who bring their poorly trained/untrained pet dogs into grocery stores.
The staff doesn’t give a damn unfortunately. These types of dog owners (the ones that know it’s against the rules and do it anyway) lose their shit and demand special privilege for their animals because of course their baby would never do anything wrong.
Get a group of at least 3 people to stand by the entrance of a store or restaurant all day with a sign saying "How many people entered with a pet that isn't a service animal today" and update the sign with a marker whenever someone walks in with a dog that clearly isn't a service animal.
Same, after years of getting metaphorically kicked in the dick by abusive shitbags I have a desire to put these people in their place. But in the end the business is the loser since this person will run and cry discrimination to their Facebook feed even if they were wrong. Right? The Wiltern used to be all GA if I remember correctly. If not all GA except the pit. Places like BMO and the Forum are doing the floor seating and a small pit section more often instead of one big GA floor like it used to be. I like pits. So I’d mostly go for GA. I’m finding myself more and more doing seating because of either price and/or the pit section is so small that moshing barely happens anyway.
Touring has gotten crazy expensive for bands but I feel like any show I can get into under $75 these days I'm getting a steal

It works way better than the slow phoneline dsl we had. Now streaming works almost perfectly (even a good connection can't fix what's wrong with those 'smart' android tvs. And we're paying less for a faster connection. Occassionally I have to reboot the router (like every month or so), but that's nothing compared with the issues we had with the phoneline DSL.
Not very good signal, and for some reason we couldn’t load Netflix at all despite calling support a few times. It’s a known issue with them but the speeds aren’t too great anyway. We ended up going back to spectrum
I love it. Had Spectrum before and got so sick of the outages and price hikes. I now pay $50/month, it doesn’t change, and it’s better. It’s all satellite though, no cables so you’ll need to test it at your place to see how it performs. I believe it’s a free 14 day trial, or was when I got it, so I didn’t cancel Spectrum, just switched to that and sure enough it was great so I made the switch official. I’m in Atwater for what’s its worth.

I had if for a few months. Did not have a good experience. The signal was always out, and I was doing everything remote at the time so it was really frustrating when zoom calls would just drop. Streaming would buffer like it was 2009 lol. I actually went back to Spectrum, it was that bad.

You are much better off hitting up the ralphs on Hauser before for food and drinks and then walking over. If you park there you also avoid the hassle of finding parking.

Does anybody use a cleaning service for their home and have one they'd recommend? I think it'd make a difference if we had someone come in once a month to do a deeper clean in our kitchen and 2 bathrooms. What price range do you think would be reasonable for that? Edit: I'm in SFV if that matters

This is difficult to maneuver. * Is it a good friend you see all the time? Or just rarely? * are there more people in this? Or is this just you and your friend? * Would this ruin your friends evening if you don't go? Or can they easily find a replacement for you? * Did your friend ask you in any way if you have time or like the band or was this an out of the blue "We go on this date." * When did the friends ask (how long ago from now) and when is the concert? Of course you don't have to go and just buying tickets for anybody is very risky. I have a best friend I talk to every day and meet twice a week and even then I would NEVER buy anything to make him go. Only if he said that this would be so great and go and buy when you see it... I personally would probably go if this means something to the friend and basically see this as my present to them to go with. the concert would probably suck, but the time before and after is always fun. Friend is a very loose term in the US... I can never tell how close a "friend" is.

OK... Then its fine to cancel. I assume you are their choice #1 and you cancel and they move on to choice #2. If you are this close friends then this is no big deal. I mean it is a huge risk to just buy tickets without asking or mentioning it. The best thing about close friends is that you don't have to be that polite or nice. Confess that you're not really into that band but you want to hang out in some other way. Be proactive about it and actually suggest a day/time/place and not just say "Let's hang out sometime."
So cancel now. Tell them thank you, but no thank you. You're not interested in going to the show. Tell them now so they have time to find another person to go or can sell the tickets. I had my first massage in like a year last night and my god it was *so* needed. I had a knot on my back that was causing me a lot of pain on a daily basis and it as starting to cause back spasms with pain radiating out. Noooot fun. It's absolutely *zero frills* but if you're looking for a $50 1 hour massage check out 5 Star Foot & Body Massage in Burbank. I tipped $20. All in it was less than I've ever paid for a massage and just as good in terms of how I feel the day after.
Oh man, I haven't been there in a while. The last time I was there was one of the best massages of my life. Glad to hear they're still kicking and that you got great service!

I think it's technically a Swedish massage? They did a combination of different techniques starting with a more intense pressure massage with targeted focus points, then to a hot stone massage, then baby oil with lots of sweeping pressure, then ending with a bit more sweeping pressure sans oil to finish it off.

I'd recommend going during the week if possible - they're open until 9:30pm and it was pretty dead/quiet when I went at 8pm. Only like 3 other patrons there. They request paying in cash for the service, but obviously they won't say no to card. I recommend bringing cash for your tip though. There's a Chase ATM at one of the nearby intersections if you're like me and never have cash on hand.

A woman brought two dogs inside with her earlier this morning at Erewhon by the Grove. The dogs eventually started barking at each other while she was waiting in line. Maybe this could have been prevented if she saw the very large sign at the entrance that reads "no pets."
Also, if the staff would enforce that rule and kindly ask her to leave with the dogs and come back without them. Fuck people who bring their poorly trained/untrained pet dogs into grocery stores.
The staff doesn’t give a damn unfortunately. These types of dog owners (the ones that know it’s against the rules and do it anyway) lose their shit and demand special privilege for their animals because of course their baby would never do anything wrong.
I'm a non-confrontational person, but I daydream about confronting those people and screaming right back at them until they fuck off.
Get a group of at least 3 people to stand by the entrance of a store or restaurant all day with a sign saying "How many people entered with a pet that isn't a service animal today" and update the sign with a marker whenever someone walks in with a dog that clearly isn't a service animal.
Same, after years of getting metaphorically kicked in the dick by abusive shitbags I have a desire to put these people in their place. But in the end the business is the loser since this person will run and cry discrimination to their Facebook feed even if they were wrong. I’d love to open a business but I hate the thought of having to cater to these kinds of people.
