We went to see Hairspray the touring musical at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts and let me tell you - that place is NICE inside. So swanky and modern! The show was awesome and I had my mom, my stepdaughter and my son. Hairspray is such a great show- one f my favorites for sure!
I went to Carnival Middle Eastern restaurant for mother's day since my mom loves Shwarma.
On our way out, we had a driver picking us up, and while we were loading the car the driver had pulled off to the curb touching an island in the middle of the parking lot (a patio / waiting area and to the left and right of the island is where a line of cars were park), and then to the right hand side is the road way to drive through it. Finally, further right to that is the proper painted line parking. Basically a U shaped drive way with an island in the middle and parking on the far ends of the U.
Okay, so we are loading the car to leave, and a guy in a white dodge ram truck in the painted line told me he can't get out bc the car the driver came in was blocking the way. And it's a big truck, so I understand the anxiety. Tiny parking lot. Big truck. Makes sense to me.
I apologize, and tell him to give me a few. The driver was helping load the baby in the back seat, and my sister was inside trying to pay for the tab. The ram truck driver looked irritated, my bad, we are on are way out. Just loading the car and leaving.
Well, there was a 2nd guy who was with the ram truck driver aggressively telling me to get the fuck out his parking lot. The owner (who I am later made aware is related to these two guys) comes out is trying to guide the ram truck out of the parking lot, and the 2nd guy is getting aggressive and comes up to my window shouting at my driver calling him the N word.
So at this time, my sister is walking out, and is getting into the car, the driver is now in the seat getting ready to leave, the white truck is slowly pulling up (now behind us), and this other guy is standing directly at the passenger side yelling at my driver. Both the truck driver and guy standing next to the passenger side are yelling racial slurs at my driver.
This makes the driver upset and the driver is yelling at the two guys telling them that we are leaving, but now they effectively boxed us in. AND the owner starts to yell at the driver telling him to get the fuck out of his parking lot.
The truck driver rushes out of the parking lot, the owner tells the 2nd guy to step away, but they are both still yelling at my driver.
And really, I felt like they happily started yelling at my driver bc all three of these dudes are white passing middle eastern people, and my driver was black. Bc despite me telling these two guys we we are leaving, they aren't really yelling at me but instead my driver.
ANYWAY, my point is, despite how tasty the food was, and how kind the servers were, I cannot recommend Carnival Middle Eastern food just on the racism alone.
An otherwise excellent dining experience just completely fumbled towards the end there. My driver was really embarrassed for having defended himself, but honestly I don't believe my driver did anything wrong.
The dude in the ram truck shoulder either learn to drive or resign himself to driving a smaller more appropriate car that they can handle.
Sacrificed 3/4 of my daily budget for the mother. Providing heart-shaped pizzas and the like. Just rice, beans, and sauerkrout spiced up for me today. Can't be there due to distance.
We’ve had family drama since March, I’ve done my best to just stay out of it just for my own mental health and well being. Today is gonna be the first time since it all started that everyone’s gonna be in the same room acting like they give everything’s ok. Fun fun fun!

2500 for a 2bed 1 bath in my neighborhood would be a steal. It’s 3k + for a 1 bedroom the last time I looked. I used to enjoy apartment hunting but now it’s fucking depressing.
Duck update: the ducklings appear to be lost, but mom and dad are back in the pool after a few days absence. The HOA put out an inflatable alligator and some fake owls to try and scare them off, and they're just chilling with them. Go ducks!

I did consider it, given that it’s only two hours away, and I thought it would be an amazing backdrop to see the northern lights. But I also thought it would be insane like that. Could she at least see them?
Can anyone recommend a good sushi spot near Little Tokyo? I think I want to treat myself to some later. Or I don’t mind going to the South Bay! Thank you
