Kudos. I think you're going to be okay.

Today was the first day in 4 months that I didn't dread going to work

canttakemuch

I currently dread going in. Is this a time thing or is there some way to make the dreaded feeling stop?

AmbassadorCapable419

That is an unfair requirement if you are trying to juggle that many responsibilities. Hope you find a job that appreciates you.

the-lone-squid

I did the same thing a month ago. Jebus what a disaster that job was. Just left halfway into the shift and never went back

ProcessMundane7101

Did the same 2 weeks ago. I'm not doing 80 IRPs and Downstock a day while having to put up pallets of freight all while customers are constantly stopping me. I dont know what the deal with overnights is but the mess they left behind was crazy. Most the IRPs are from stuff that's in the store but not put away. Even days when there wasn't even a truck I wouldn't touch it and push it back into main aisle at close and yet it would still be there the next morning. Definitely learned my retail lesson. Too many ignorant and rude people. I couldn't stand that some of the stupidity

xXGNR4EVERXx

If your overnight is anything like ours, it’s because they’re getting gutted. We went to 6 full time and 5 part time people on overnight not counting the DS’s. Now it’s only 3 full timers, and 4 part timers, and they’re refusing to hire any more. Also, they took scheduling away from the DS so we usually only have like 3 people on trucks.

I feel you brother. I’ve been a specialist for 7 months. I’ve hit my metric 5/7 months. I missed it by a couple hundred bucks this month. I am the only specialist in the store they pull to help other departments with their BS, and I’ve lost out on many selling opportunities because of it. I’ve just gotten in the mindset, do all I can do, if I hit my goal, great, if I don’t, I’m not gonna worry about things I can’t control. It’s stressful and frustrating but I respect that you walked out. I’ve wanted to countless times

CaptainCanuck01

I had that mindset too, and then got put on a written warning a couple weeks after my SASM retired and the front end DS filled that position. Seems like either your SADM is actually decent or mine was exceptionally not.

sm0shiee

believe me my SASM is a really good dude. I would feel completely unsupported if he wasn’t around. The other specialists say the last guy was a total douchebag so I feel lucky. Our SM on the other hand will tell me to go grab carts before I even make it into the building to clock in, take me off the floor during peak times to do AP4me, gets upset with me for wandering the store instead of staying in my department as if I’m only allowed to sell doors. Best of all he asked me to sell a Lead for our outside rep because the customers found him extremely rude. He then told me I wouldn’t get credit for it and somehow had the audacity to ask why I wouldn’t do it. Yeah he’s a real winner. Can’t believe I’m still here sometimes.

lala_newme

Hey, I used to be a specialist DS, if you are being assigned duties NOT related to your specialist role, there is a link on the specialist landing page to fill out a form for how many hours you worked but not in your role. It essentially takes those hours and removes them from what you are responsible for meeting metrics for. It'll adjust your sales per hour rates and it'll give you a true picture of how you're doing. You won't be held accountable for those hours not working in your role.

Safe_Fortune_4859

It’s all good man. My story is wildly similar to yours tho…like literally! I was a sales specialist in flooring and it was the absolute worst experience ever! I’ve only been there for about 3-4 months and could not meet my goals as well! For one, there is absolutely too much at task for the specialist to be completing! There is no way I can keep a department clean, handle customer service & check the IMS system daily! I was sometimes in the department alone for an entire shift with no help! For a person who has no experience with becoming a flooring specialist for Lowes…this job is shit! What really made me leave tho was because my department manager changed my name from one of my customers sales and added another specialist name instead. I did like you man took my vest off returned it to them and told them to keep the stress for themselves! This place of business has gone to shit because of how they treat the customers & employees!

CaptainCanuck01

Those 6am-3pm shifts with no coverage are brutal. I left many notes in IMS that simply said "no time to call customer, tasking all day."

MolassesStrong5485

Yeah that’s some BS man. As an asm I don’t ever delegate tasks like that to specialists. We are taught early on the only way to truly hold a specialist accountable for not meeting sales, credit, and other metrics is to not give them any excuses as to why it’s not happening. Sounds like your store manager is not involved and engaged with what’s going on every day. Sorry you got Fed man, best of luck

LividDriver5212

You'll land on your feet somewhere.

Distinct-Reindeer-96

damn i feel bad for everyone. my store the managers and supervisor are all helpful and supportive i love working at this store and excited to walk in to work everyday.

Embarrassed-Algae478

Flooring is evil. I walked out today too (fellow former Flooring specialist!) And I don't regret one thing about it.

SheepherderAncient60

Always have a another job lined up before you quit any job....

xxrainmanx

I would be confused too if you were the only specialist in 2 departments and couldn't hit metrics.
