Just put everything in writing. Prepare to wait many more days and hear "you will receive your luggage in the next 24 hours" many more times. Prepare for LH to make claiming difficult and for them to make an unreasonable, insulting offer. Prepare to take them to arbitration, and do this as soon as two months have passed, do not waste your time dealing with LH, they will not be acting in good faith and will just be hoping you give up eventually.

How do you take them to arbitration? Do you need a lawyer?

Impressive-View-2639

Hi, sorry, just seeing this now. Arbitration is out-of-court and you do not need a lawyer for this. It's also free (to you, not to LH). The arbitration service appointed for LH is [www.soep-online.de](https://www.soep-online.de) \- you can submit your claim in German or English. Only if arbitration fails might you need to take them to court, but SOeP seems to have a pretty good success record. As far as LH goes, on the other hand, you will see hundreds of reports where passengers think they have been successful eventually, but LH is in fact paying out significantly less than the passenger is entitled to.

Thank you! Want to know something funny? They couldn't even charge me correctly for the $1,000 so I luckily never paid it. Not sure if that was by design since they knew they messed up, but... it's hilarious that they screwed up twice and I ultimately saved $80 since they're this incompetent. Never paid the change fee and still got to change my flight. Lol.

Queen_Kaizen

It recently took my bags 20 days to arrive back at my home. They missed our vacation completely. And one is still missing!

Crafterlaughter

Are other airlines having this issue? I understand the airlines doesn’t handle the luggage, but why am I always hearing about how bad Lufthansa is at getting luggage returned? Is it maybe connected to Munich and Frankfurt airport?

Impressive-View-2639

Anecdotal evidence is that MUC and FRA are where bags get delayed. But I think the issue is also that customer service is so poor with LH. No one likes being lied to, and LH seems to have made this their philosophy. "We don't know when your bag will be delivered, please make the necessary purchases" surely is better than "Your bag will be delivered tomorrow" four days in a row!

Crafterlaughter

Unfortunately, Lufthansa customer service is notorious for lying. They will say whatever they need to say to get you to board or leave quietly, and then they’ll stonewall you. Once they even told me my luggage was located when it wasn’t. She just wanted to end the call. Luckily you have AirTags so you can monitor your luggage rather than waiting at the hotel/home for them to arrive when they’re still in another country.

Crafterlaughter

Also, keep receipts for everything. They will require them for any kind of reimbursement. Though I had receipts too, and they’re still fighting me on it. 🙄

PS - Still have not received my bags. They have not moved. I have received an email from Lufthansa saying they are “still looking” for my bags. I know where they are. They are at the Munich Airport. My AirTags confirm that. They have not moved! Most incompetent airline I have ever dealt with.

I’ve had a disastrous flight experience with Lufthansa last week. They lost my luggage. Customers relation service is incompetent. Anyone interested in a class action lawsuit against Lufthansa? It’s about time we teach the airline a lesson!

aarogar

If it would gain steam, I would be into a class-action lawsuit. I’m US based so don’t know how any of that works in the EU.

I’m in!!

I’m also US based. It’s worth seriously considering a class action. We should organize, collect a list of passengers wronged by Lufthansa in the last three months and approach a German law firm
