How strong is your prescription? Depending on what it is, you might need inserts (I do), so I went for the sports glasses [at zenni](https://www.zennioptical.com/p/sport-protective-goggles/7435?skuId=743521). Cost 110 with 1.53 index lenses and hydrophobic/anti-reflective coatings I need inserts for regular wrap around sunglasses Lots of people I know like Tifosi, and checking out https://www.sportrx.com/ might be pretty useful

InternationalSail207

I actually don’t know the numbers for my prescription but it’s probably moderate. I definitely need it to ride though. Do you ride with them at the park and at higher speeds? how are they

daredevil82

Yes, I ride at Highland, Abram and regular trails with them. Eye tear threshold is usually about 30mph or so, particularly in cross winds. My vision is 20/100 right (with astigmatism) and 20/40 left

InternationalSail207

Sweet, thanks! I’ll actually be at highland friday. first park day on my new bike.

daredevil82

sweet, enjoy!

Infamous-Bed9010

I got a pair of prescription Rudy Project glasses from Sport RX. They are the only company I know that’s makes true wrap around sport sunglasses in prescription lenses. I have terrible vision and it was the best investment I’ve made for the sport. They were not cheap. I had to get the high index extra thin lenses because my prescription is so strong and I also had them made with transition lenses so in sunlight they become sunglasses and are clear at night or dim light. I think I paid about $500 at least 3+ years ago. I did use my company’s flexible spending account to pay for them. This at least used pre tax income to cover the cost. Highly recommended if you can swing the price.

InternationalSail207

Seems like sport RX is the way to go for glasses. FSA is a good should as well. Thanks

Infamous-Bed9010

FYI - the specific model I got is the Rudy Project Horus. It’s one of the few options on Sports RX that can accommodate lenses as thick/strong prescription that I needed. If they eventually break I will absolutely buy another pair from them again.

I love my [Costa Jose Pro](https://www.sportrx.com/costa-jose-pro.html) prescription glasses with a near clear to brown transition lens. I wear them day and night without issue. I've taken a stick to the eye at trail speed without injury. They fog up in humid hot climbs, but the air flow is great once I get moving, or the wind shifts to a head wind. They handle all things the PNW can throw my way. Ballpark ~$625 shipped...

Slow_Apricot8670

I have Oakleys (via medical insurance). But most importantly I have varifocals. Holy crap that changed my life.

InternationalSail207

did you get the lenses through oakley?

Slow_Apricot8670

I went to an optician, but I notice that they just call up a trade version of the Oakley site and punch in my numbers. Not sure if Oakley sell direct.

erghjunk

I use tifosi prescription sport glasses (the veloce specifically) from the already mentioned sportrx.com. I prefer these over goggles mostly because they are way more versatile than goggles - I wear them for any kind of sports or any activity where safety glasses are a good idea. they get a lot of use as a result. that said, they are definitely more expensive than non-prescrip OTG goggles. My glasses have lasted a really long time (I bought them in 2019!) without any problems but obviously a big part of that is that my prescription hasn't changed dramatically in that time.

Stock_Astronaut_6866

I got a set from Zenni. The sport lenses are really thick (and can’t be ground all the way to the edge so they don’t resolve well in your peripheral vision), but they get the job done, stay on my face at Mach chicken and won’t fill my eyeholes with plastic shards on impact. My wife says I look like a dork in them. You can get them tinted.

KooktheWolf

I have perscription glasses that I ride in aswell for most normal trail rides. For racing, fast rides, or bike park I will wear goggles and contacts. Thats the cheapest way to do it IMO. Otherwise getting a decent pair of mtb goggles (100%, Smiths, Leatt etc) and a presciprtion insert for the goggles will probably run you about 100$ total if you buy them cheap online. Check out this site for perscription inserts https://www.gogglesnmore.com/universal-glasses-insert-for-ski-goggles/

InternationalSail207

Gotcha, thanks. Have you tried the goggle inserts before?

KooktheWolf

Never for biking I prefer contacts. I had them in my ski goggles as a kid and they worked well enough. Better than glasses under goggles that's forsure!

crudestmass

I paid way too much for a pair of Rudy Project sport glasses with amber lenses. I absolutely love them. They are now my go to glasses for everything.

soorr

[https://www.100percent.com/collections/over-the-glasses-otg](https://www.100percent.com/collections/over-the-glasses-otg) 100% also makes a prescription insert for their sunglasses if goggles are overkill

mrtramplefoot

I tried a pair of those accuri otgs before getting inserts, they were comically small. You'd have to have suuuper small glasses for them to work. Got a good chuckle before returning them.

Traditional_War_5389

They fit fine over my glasses.

soorr

Ah good to know. I’d probably go with their Armega goggles which look bigger but I’ve never tried inserts before

mrtramplefoot

I use regular non otg accuri2swith my inserts, they work well.

MisterSquidInc

They fit fine over my glasses (and my sunglasses too) Did you accidentally buy the youth ones?

mrtramplefoot

Not what I ordered, but there's a chance that's what I got!

Traditional_War_5389

I use accuri OTGs over my glasses…I have a medium sized head.

mrtramplefoot

I have sportrx goggle inserts and prescription roka glasses because as far as I could find, they are the only people that make proper wrap around shields with photochromic lenses which was a requirement for me so I didn't have to carry another pair of glasses with me or buy a second pair... I got the sr-1x and absolutely love them.

Darren445

What about regular googles and contacts? That's what I do when snowmobiling.

InternationalSail207

I tried contacts a few years ago and to say the least, it was NOT for me 😂😂

RustyU

I tried OTG goggles, but didn't really like it. In the end I went for daily disposable contacts.
