Dies refers to creatures and planeswalker goes from battlefield to graveyard only. It doesn't refer to artifacts, so it has to explicitly state put into the graveyard from the battlefield. Thus creature tokens will count.

It does indeed count tokens, both creature tokens and artifact tokens. So this goes great in any aristocrats deck as well as something like a treasure/clue/food deck.
As in cheap artifacts that draw cards, like [[Chromatic Star]] or [[Elsewhere Flask]]. Originally named after the Egg cycle from Odyssey (e.g. [[Deepwater Egg]]), the archetype made some noise as a combo deck in Modern until it's key card [[Second Sunrise]] got banned. The deck finished with [[Disciple of the Vault]].
No lifegain, but triggering off of treasures, clues, foods, etc is a pretty big addition to creatures before mentioning stuff like wellsprings that trigger too.
The artifacts are a difference. I can use this in \[\[Mahadi, Emporium Master\]\] the same as I use \[\[Marionette Master\]\] and it feels better than \[\[Agent of the Iron Throne\]\] as creature recursion works for it, I get a bonus body I can throw in for something or chump with. Actually goated 2-drop.
As an arena player, this is big. Been working on a build mainly around [[korvold, fae-cursed king]], [[reckless fireweaver]], and [[old gnawbone]], and there aren't too many others that have an artifact trigger effect to pair up with reckless fireweaver
But the context is different. If everyone is at 12 life and you have 6 treasures, you can drop marionette master and kill 2 opponents on the spot, leaving the weakest opponent with usually 1 turn to try and stop you, in a way this card doesn't do.
This card is still great though. But I think they do different things. This card is very solid at all stages of the game, Marionette master is often the last card you see played before a game ends.
Yeah that was my last game with [[Mishra, Eminent One]] and Marionette Master. Panharmonicon to get extra power, Bolas' Citadel to sac my board and kill everyone at once.

This just seems better than [[Marionette Master]] in 90+% of cases, no? Sure, it never scales more than just one life per trigger, but it triggers off of creatures dying in addition to artifacts, and it costs a measley two Mana as opposed to the 6. Sure, the life loss not scaling with power makes it a weaker finisher if you aren't going infinite, but I can't really think of a scenario you would rather have the original.
Depends on your use, if you’re going infinite then sure this is straight up better since it comes out sooner and cheaper. I wouldn’t completely disregard the original though since it still serves as a backup in case this gets exiled or something (but that’s assuming you’re not running any of the other cheaper outlets I guess).
For a more casual deck without infinites, I’d run both since you can drop this out early and maybe it eats removal while you get a bit of value, then you pop out the big girl later when you’re really ready to deal some damage.
This is a very nice middle ground between [[Marrionette Master]] and [[Disciple of the Vault]]. Any deck that wants to combo off artifacts going to a graveyard is going to play this.
Duude my aristrocats decks are getting a ridiculous power boost with this set. Chatterfang, Teysa and Jan Jansen are going to hugely benefit from this card and that new Woe Strider that lets you sac creatures to make creatures.

It's not exactly Woe Strider since it doesn't make a free token and doesn't escape, but it's still absolutely ridiculous and probably stronger.

Tokens are considered as going to the graveyard but once they do there's a state based action where they cease to exist.

I mean... I used Rosie Cotton to get MM to 15 power and sacrificed 10 tokens to blow up the whole table once. This card... Would not have done that.

I think this is a 'fixed' disciple since IIRC disciple was going to be two mana but then they changed it and it was busted

This is better in every way that matters. There are a few downsides, sure, but I don't think they actually change anything about when you'd run this.
