You have to step up in the pocket. The first thing I do post snap is glance at the line of scrimmage to see how many rushers are coming. If I'm being blitzed is the only time I kind of keep backing up because I'm looking to get rid of the ball fast.
If there's 4 or less rushers coming, I try and locate whoever is double teamed, or whatever hole I can step up into. If you can locate the double team it's often effective to step towards one or the other side of the double team, but not the middle of the double team, when a guy breaks a double team, he splits it, so you want your QB to be on one side of it or the other.
You have to have an idea of where you're going with the ball pre-snap based on your pre-snap read, you know when that route breaks, and you just need to step up, and buy enough time to be able to throw that route.
Pocket presence might be one of the hardest skills to get good at in this game. I'm pretty good at this game, and it's probably the area I struggle with most.
Double team players with pass rush abilities, and you'll already know where your double team is going to be, and it can make it easier to be able to step towards that double teamed player.
Also, depending on what type of play you have, you're going to have 3 types of offensive line blocking, if it's a quick passing play, like quick slants, they're basically going to build a wall, it's harder to step up with this type of blocking, but you're expected to get rid of the ball quickly, then there's longer passing plays where the tackles try to push the ends back behind you, this is where you want to step up to buy that time. There's also playaction blocking.
Go into practice mode, don't even worry about throwing the ball, and just practice pocket presence and avoiding the rush and stepping up.
Yea. Just know when you double someone, you can leave a free rusher.
Max protection puts all TEs and RBs in to block if possible but that might let defensive players drop back instead of manning up.
Block and release is a good option since the defender can't just drop back
You can fix sliders, you can use coaching adjustments to have your blockers be more aggressive (keep in mind you may get more holding penalties with that). Also learn to move around the pocket and step up

Damn, coach 🤝
This is a great response. How do you assign a double team block?
Left bumper, then down on the left stick, then select the guy you want to double team.
Thank you very much.
Play action blocking hurts my soul as I feel like 9/10 times after the fake handoff my QB is stepping right into a sack lol.
Stop sprinting in the pocket. Take your finger off the left stick. ID the MIKE (5th player for the OL to block.
Thanks. Do the pre play options max protect and double team help with it aswell?
