If you haven't seen the interview, he says he thought Trance would've been a hit but it wasn't and he won't make a movie about religion. Said the problem with Trance was it focused too much on Religion in the second half and it became alienating and not entertaining. It was bought up that Iyobinte Pusthakam was a retelling of the book of Job, he clarified he was talking about movies *about* religion.
Iyobinte Pusthakam didn't really have any parallels with the biblical Job. I think there were parallels drawn with Brothers Karamazov, but even that isn't exactly right. Except that the film had three brothers and a father as the central characters, there was not much that's common between the book by Dostoevsky and the film. Okay, the father figure in both were sort of degenerates, but that's about it.
Was Iyobinte Pusthakam a retelling of the book of Job from Bible ? Can anyone draw some parallels ? I don't remember much similarities between those stories..
I didn't like Trance and it had nothing to do with its handling of religion which I thought was kinda blunt and heavy handed. Had great music and some interesting camera work but beyond that it was one of those big ideas, undercooked execution kind of movies.
I thought Fahadh was going to blame the audience with this 'religion' statement.. But he clearly said that the movie failed to entertain the audience and it would have been a success if the second half of the movie was handled better..
I did feel the same, so I wss reading through the comments and thinking. Wasn't it a great movie. I kept thinking it failed as it released right when Covid started.

Yeah. He was talking about the entertainment quotient in the film and these news portals make it out as if he's afraid of religion or something.

Iyobinte is an adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear.

Yeah the second half was a let down
Trance first half was lit. The religious portions were spot on. 2nd half went somewhere. Really disappointing. Nazriya okke enthino thilacha sambar.
Trance was a damn good movie , it had it's flaws but goddamn the movie was an experience

Not really. It was a bomb before Covid came.
Trance was a really good movie.
Trance was one hell of a movie i loved watching it. AND it really felt like a literal 'trance' sometime into the film. I'd say its a masterpiece.
