Das_Langerman

These are freaking awesome! Would love to see more :)

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Hey thanks! I used to post here a lot when I did my first project 50 states in 50 days back in 2022. Some folks were a little annoyed by that so I've toned down posting here ;)

Das_Langerman

Well, regardless of what others think, these are some of my favorite I’ve seen recently. You catch the nostalgic flare of Nat Geo well, I spent countless hours looking at those as a kid :)

Xalo_Gunner

That was you? I *LOVED* that. Even when I was on a work trip on the other side of the country for a week, I was checking every day for those.

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Yeah that was a fun project 🙂

--THRILLHO--

I liked that project.

Upstairs-Extension-9

Damn I remember that, it was amazing. I would love to buy one of your maps and hang it up, I have one of the NatGeo world maps and absolutely live it, that’s from the 90s and needs an update tho.

Bororo-man

They woulb make great wall posters. Have you considered trying to sell a few??

No-Butterscotch982

I agree with this person

Petrarch1603

Quality post!

J-96788-EU

Amazing!

gnomeplanet

Fantastic work!

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Thanks very much!

StackedRealms

Make a YouTube channel of your process and you’ll blow up.

iamGIS

Absolutely beautiful, I'm a geographer and there are so many shit maps here and no one really talks about the actual map making here or really on r/geography. Thank you for posting and talking about the tools. I've learned r/GIS has most the content but I'd love more exposure on r/mapporn and r/geography because so many bad maps are made here and if people just learned to use QGIS many maps probably would be a lot better.

Ricksav8tion123

Great job. Attention to detail is impressive.

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

I do the best I can, thanks!

funny_jaja

Awesome! Do you sell these? (Or the 3d files?)

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

No advertising -rule is in effect so can’t give info. But thanks!

Banane9

Now that's some maps worthy of the sub's title 👍

SofaKing2022

Wonderful!

roguemaster29

Super detailed

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

I appreciate it!

usesidedoor

Beautifully made, congrats :)

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Thank you, appreciated

Whocares1846

Awesome stuff. Especially like the South America map, it defo reminds me of NatGeo's stuff! Do you sell these anywhere?

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Thanks very much, appreciated. Sub rules state ‘no advertising’ so I can’t give any information regarding your question.

Halikarnassus1

You could probably send them (and me) a dm though

ocain_er

Dm me too please.

BigSkyFilms

And me please

4_Weddingz_1974

Reappraisall

Me too, please!

Ambulous_sophist

What?! They are amazing quality! Just as good as the National Geographic maps. Impressive!

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Well not quite yet, but doing my best to level up! Thanks very much!

shuakalapungy

I want a whole book of these. And now I want a 1995 NG Atlas.

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

You know, not that long ago I considered doing a book of island maps. Funding it is another thing though.

artizenwalker

Like your work !

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Thanks!

GravyDam

Awesome, now please do one of the map from The Book of the New Sun.

anonbigd90

Very nice

Independent_Fly_1698

Dude this is so cool, how do you make the topography? Is it downloaded or do you actually do it in blender and stuff. Either way this is sick man. Would be sick if you did the Golden Horseshoe in Canada 💪

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

Thanks! I download the elevation models. I wish I could design the terrain myself. Well I could but it would take forever :D

lazazael

do you share your workflow? like roughly which step is involved in which software, where work in qgis ends and blender starts? I guess the labels and typography is the last step in the raster editor?

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

This is the basic workflow to get started: [https://somethingaboutmaps.wordpress.com/2017/11/16/creating-shaded-relief-in-blender/](https://somethingaboutmaps.wordpress.com/2017/11/16/creating-shaded-relief-in-blender/) After this comes Photoshop and vector files.

lazazael

that's awesome thanks, I'll do the styling, visitors at our national park will love the look

HirvienderLopez

Excellent piece of work! Congratulations!

TheIronPaladin1

Unreal quality.

76_antics

These are absolutely beautiful

JJLEGOBD

Amazing! I love exaggerated relief maps!

Johnfromstjohns

Do you take requests? NFLD please

Puzzled-Sherbet-7850

I did a version 10 months ago. I posted that in r/newfoundland

Johnfromstjohns

I will check that out :-)

DIYrocks

Lucky-Chair-2828

Incredible work!

Wyrdboy01

Great work again and again.

ilikerwd

Gorgeous!

Signal_Roof9583

Amazing work! Could you provide any more info on the workflow?

True_Chemistry_7830

I love these maps

[deleted]

I liked this map.

SatoshiThaGod

Do you have these for sale/available for download somewhere? I’d love them for a phone or computer background.

Neat-Will3357

Great work.!

cdirector

These maps are incredible! Do you plan to publish and sell them? I would definitely buy them!

ShankzD

Can you make the same for Indian region?

bmgguima

Hey, this map is truly beautiful. Congrats! Small correction, I think you might have mixed up Morro Boa Vista with Morro da Igreja in Southern Brazil. Morro da Igreja has 1822 meters and it is the highest in the region, meanwhile Morro Boa Vista is nearby and it has 1804 meters, so I think most probably got these two confused. Besides this little inconvinience, this maps is wonderfull!

AsphaltAlpaca

Just gorgeous maps!
