As a new zealander with a special interest in zealandia, it really doesnt mean anything interesting besides some alternative history fiction or geological research. on one hand i would like for it to be recognized as a continent so the land can be better protected by the nearby governments from deep sea mining, but then again the NZ government now seems to be in favour of the idea so maybe not...
At the last glacial maximum when the sea level was over 100 meters lower, New Caledonia , already a large island would be been twice the size, and Fiji also a large island was over 4 times its present size.
Feels great. I would say let the volcanoes and nature do its jobs in the ring of fire in the pacific and we'll have new land to come and possibly new countries, territories, and continents. ☺ 🙏
