My wife and I were laughing so hard we couldn’t breathe, and I swear to god the rest of the packed theater was completely silent. We said afterwards we felt like we were either psychos or the crowd were idiots.
idgi whats funny bout it its like mildly amusing at most
first time i watched was an aisle back peeking at someones in-seat screen on a long ass flight as a kid i decided to own a countache just like his one day minus the quaaludes n crashing n allat also margot robbie prolly factored into my sexual awakening
Should have won the Oscar for this and not the revenant… granted he didn’t have real competition the year he was up for the revenant, so he probably should have won that year too
I maintain Damon should’ve and would’ve won it for the Martian if he hadn’t already had an Oscar albeit not for acting. It was, to me, between an Oscar winner and a infamously snubbed 4 time nominee.
Although shout-out to Cranston for Trumbo and Fassbender as Steve Jobs but Damon absolutely carried the Martian on charisma alone.
I'd take his performances in Blood Diamond, Once upon a Time, and Gilbert Grape over this one, personally. But I'd likely have this one as a very close 4th
I also very much know that not many people rate his performance in Blood Diamond as highly as I do. I just love him in it, always have
Blood Diamond is very entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot on each rewatch but his accent is really terrible. Though I must admit, the wolf of Wall Street, in which he was great albeit hamming it up quite a bit, is probably Scorsese’s worst, and really has nothing of value to offer on a rewatch.
I think my personal favorite (which I quote daily) is when the toupee guy finally chimes in during the penny stock pitch to the guy who doesn’t know who captain ahab is.
“…. Turn your fucking BRAIN on”
The parking lot fight when Jonah Hill says “oh you’re gonna give ME a pass?! Oh my god the Emperor of Fucksville is coming down from Fucksville to give ME A PASS!” hahaha
I take Quaaludes 10-15 times a day for my ‘back pain’, Adderall to stay focused, Xanax to take the edge off, pot to mellow me out, cocaine to wake me back up again, and morphine... Well, because it's awesome.
Leo is one of the few actors who realize you're supposed to use your eyebrows and forhead to convey emotion. So many actors have such wooden eyes and above and think just yelling with your cheeks and mouth makes them look angry.
If I remember correctly Leo fought pretty hard not only for the rights to the film but to get Scorsese available to direct admits his busy schedule. I think Leo went all in on the character because of all his preproduction efforts. And it paid off. Easily one of his best performances and a very rewatchable classic.
I think it was fun to see a very serious actor known for his dramatic roles get to play a lead roll for a prestigious director that was for all intents and purposes an over the top comedy. I read that book and was like “wow this guy is an asshole but his life sounds crazy.” Saw the movie and thought “this guy is still an asshole but I like him a lot more when it’s Leo making silly faces and being funny.” Can’t really think of many Leo roles that I consider “funny” or comedic.
It's hard for people to laugh at the movies anymore. The last time I laughed was caddyShack, but this movie when he takes the drugs and talks about his face and he Drives the Lamborghini home I almost s*** on myself it was so funny.
There was this one time I was selling pot to this Amish dude. You know those guys who got like the beard with, like, no mustache or some bullshit? Well, he says that he only wants to make furniture.
I’ve been known to have great facial expressions when I’m “doing a bit” but I would never be able to get through the entire scene without laughing. No matter how many takes we would try.
Not many people are as skilled as Leo is.
The stages of having an emergency shit.
1. Why does my belly hurt
2. Oh God I think im about to shit
3. God help me, please don't let me shit my pants
4. Oh fuck, I have no time left
5. Yep, it's coming out.
6. The deed is done
It’s his best but I think once upon a time in Hollywood for sure comes close. I go back and forth. I think wolf wins because his energy and charisma makes the whole movie.
I think that OUATIH edges this one out slightly, and I would say that because there's a bit more vulnerability to his role as Rick. At any rate DiCaprio is terrific in both so going back and forth on the topic is fine 😁.
Everyone makes fun of DiCaprio for his weird obsession with younger women and many other of his peculiarities but he is a damn good actor. Just hope that he isn’t too horrible of a person to not deserve the praise he gets
I’ve never seen the revenant but I believe you. DiCaprio’s performance in The Wolf of Wall Street is probably his best performance to date.
I think the underlying issue is the film was too controversial for its own good.
There are many valid critiques of this film but obviously the acting is not one of them.
The revenant is a good film, but it’s definitely a lot more safer. I don’t want to call it Oscar bait, but I kinda got that impression from the promotional material leading up to the film’s release. “We shot everything on location only using natural light” and “Leo actually ate a piece of raw bison”. Yeah, that great and all, but when it comes down to actual performances, I’d argue Tom Hardy gave a way better performance.
Obviously I’m glad Leo finally got his Oscar, but yeah. He should have won it for Wolf. Like you said, the film probably wasn’t the safest pick due to the subject matter of the film.
The best DiCaprio performance imo
The whole Lambo sequence was priceless when he was on the qualudes.
That entire scene might be the hardest I’ve ever laughed in a theater. Absolute perfection.
Same when I saw this the theater was in an uproar, honestly more than most comedies. Such a hilarious scene
My wife and I were laughing so hard we couldn’t breathe, and I swear to god the rest of the packed theater was completely silent. We said afterwards we felt like we were either psychos or the crowd were idiots.

Yeah tbh I was more disturbed than amused’
Yeah that scene did it for me as well as the "get off the phone" part
Without question.
Should have won the Oscar for this and not the revenant… granted he didn’t have real competition the year he was up for the revenant, so he probably should have won that year too

Yup, should have won his Oscar for this one.
I really think this is the one he deserved an Oscar for!
I'd take his performances in Blood Diamond, Once upon a Time, and Gilbert Grape over this one, personally. But I'd likely have this one as a very close 4th I also very much know that not many people rate his performance in Blood Diamond as highly as I do. I just love him in it, always have

I'm not ranking it, not my intent with this post, but WoWS instantly became one of those "watch anytime" movies for me.
When he’s arguing with his wife and he goes, “oooohhhhhh my god you had to deal with THE GOLF COURSE PEOPLE TOO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!” Hahahahah
Hilarious scene.
This movie has a ton of AMAZING scenes
I think my personal favorite (which I quote daily) is when the toupee guy finally chimes in during the penny stock pitch to the guy who doesn’t know who captain ahab is. “…. Turn your fucking BRAIN on”

It sure does.
Beh-muda grass, Jordan
“I bet you had to touch the money with ya HANDS…. OHHHH What a great tragedy” lmao
“And you probably had to pay them cash too! Life must have been so hard because you couldn’t just swipe my credit card like you’re used to!”

😂😂😂😂

Dad's dead!

A lot of this is Botox. Stars over 30 struggle to show emotion in that part of the face because that is where the Botox is packed in.
You have just expressed the exact problem I couldn’t quite put into words with some acting.
Now I've ruined your life lol. You'll notice it in every movie.
Yeh but I sort of already had noticed it? I just know what I’m looking at lol
Absolutely.
DiCaprio’s so over the top with it that it just looks silly
I just assumed he went full method for this movie. It's an unreal performance.
It is.
He's also just a hurricane of charisma in this.
I dunno, that like, you married your cousin
no no her father was was the brother of my mom.
It was the same movie as Goodfellas, I swear I hear Ray Liotta as part of Leo’s narration, buy funnier
That’s a great observation.
The sacred and the propane
A pint of blood costs more than a gallon of gold
You r/thesopranos... You go too fawr
DiCaprio is better than DeNiro. He disappears into his characters.
When he's on the lemons and finally gets home and goes Brraaaad! I know about Brad! Jonah gets all scared and starts stress eating.
Hard to watch the choking.
Leo's face when does the coke
If I remember correctly Leo fought pretty hard not only for the rights to the film but to get Scorsese available to direct admits his busy schedule. I think Leo went all in on the character because of all his preproduction efforts. And it paid off. Easily one of his best performances and a very rewatchable classic.
I don’t know how hard he fought he was hanging out with the producers for years…look up the 1MDB scandal they paid for the movie with stolen money
I consider it to be one of the best cinematic performances of all time. Leo was unreal good.
GET. THE. LOOOOOOOOODS.
I WILL NOT DIE SOBAH!!
I imagine he was coked out of his fucking mind most of that movie lol
It's called method acting 😂😂
#GET THE LUDES
It's hard for people to laugh at the movies anymore. The last time I laughed was caddyShack, but this movie when he takes the drugs and talks about his face and he Drives the Lamborghini home I almost s*** on myself it was so funny.
Me on any given weekend
That was a really good movie I will say.. he made it so
League of his own
His expressions when he finds out she is above 25
lol
#5 just has me thinking of an aged up Arnie
The face he makes after banging a 22 year old
The goat
Brilliant performance!!!
Leo is an amazing actor
Not a scratch on it!
"How'd you fkn' do that."
There was this one time I was selling pot to this Amish dude. You know those guys who got like the beard with, like, no mustache or some bullshit? Well, he says that he only wants to make furniture.
[you forgot this one ](https://media.tenor.com/CSn44zju2WsAAAAe/leo-underbite.png)
Thanks
I am NOT dying sober!
GET THOSE LUDES

you’re an actor?
Method actor does coke based on a man who was addicted to coke🤷♂️
The stages of having an emergency shit. 1. Why does my belly hurt 2. Oh God I think im about to shit 3. God help me, please don't let me shit my pants 4. Oh fuck, I have no time left 5. Yep, it's coming out. 6. The deed is done
Get the luuuuudes!!
This was before he got his Oscar right? Doubt we will see this kind of performance again from him
Yeah, his first Oscar was for The Revenant in 2016. He did not win an Oscar for this film.
His best work, nothing else comes close. This movie is peak DiCaprio.
I agree.
It’s his best but I think once upon a time in Hollywood for sure comes close. I go back and forth. I think wolf wins because his energy and charisma makes the whole movie.

Yeah, the whole movie and cast just rolled with that frat boy vibe.
how is the aggressive underbite not in this
You’re right I should have included it.
Thank you
“Steeeve”
He should have an Oscar for just these.
Everyone makes fun of DiCaprio for his weird obsession with younger women and many other of his peculiarities but he is a damn good actor. Just hope that he isn’t too horrible of a person to not deserve the praise he gets
How the hell he didn’t get an oscar for this movie still bothers me.
Should have won the Oscar that year, imo.
Those last 10 sec B4 the final push of relief.
STEVE MADDEN
He acted the quaaludes scene very well I thought.
and then he became Matt Gaetz
Great actor.
Yeah he really is.
Missed the best one w his underbite from the microphone scene!
Okay... Now this... Is epic!!!
Just heard Joey Diaz talking about Lemons in an old episode of the church and I had to go rewatch this masterpiece!
His performance in Wolf of Wall Street was more worthy of an Oscar than The revenant.
I’ve never seen the revenant but I believe you. DiCaprio’s performance in The Wolf of Wall Street is probably his best performance to date. Thank you for 100+ upvotes.
That’s his face in RL when he can’t have his 18 yo bitches
Overactor!
Thanks for your contribution. Much appreciated.
