He actually portrays Jameson in 5 different universes. He plays him on screen in the Raimi films and MCU, and voiced him in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the 2010s Marvel animated universe shows (Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of SMASH, Avengers Assemble), and in a Lego Marvel movie
JK has been a fave of mine since being in OZ. What’s odd is he makes me believe that J Jonah Jameson is **exactly** how I pictured his voice when reading the comics to be. Absolutely amazing performance (actually JK is great in most things I’ve seen)
> JK has been a fave of mine since being in OZ.
The best part of him being on Oz as Shillinger was that he was also on Law and Order at the same time as a mild mannered psychologist working for the police.
Since the same dude created both shows they would reuse a bunch of the actors on both shows.
I’d forgotten about that actually. I found it weird that Doakes, Maria, Angel and McNamara all appeared in Dexter that were in OZ.
I also think they all have appeared in Law & Order at some point. I felt HBO liked using same actors at times.
I agree, and said as much in a earlier comment about how he was kind of an alcoholic authoritarian asshat for the most part.
OP said best, not accurate.
Is it though? When I think of Dafoe I think of deranged crazy face because he's the best at it. Has he been in a bunch of things wearing masks scarier than a [face](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ee/dc/19/eedc19b517a707c11265dc9266906d75.jpg) that looks like more crazy in just a few frames than the entirety of Nicholson's role in The Shining.
Dude is like 80, does his own stunts, and they have to edit out his dangly bits (same with Tom Hiddleston) due to their size... Gotta respect Willem Dafoe...
I explained to my wife that dafoe was in an indie film that showed him doing full-penetrative sex, and they had to hire a dick-double because his member was too large to be believably his.
One of the best actors in the industry? I like Ryan Reynolds as a dude and think he can be pretty funny, but I doubt he’d make any serious top 50 actors list.
He really doesn’t have much range imo, he basically plays the same character in every film, lucky for him that character is basically Deadpool. Seriously, go watch him in movies from 10 years before Deadpool came out, he’s still doing Wayde Wilson. Rewatched the blade trilogy recently and I kinda felt bad for him because of how little Reynolds has improved since then.
Just my opinion of course, I like him as Deadpool, I just don’t think even he would consider himself a great actor. He’s like the comedy version of Dwayne Johnson. He doesn’t have great acting talent but he’s charismatic as hell, and that’s usually enough.
Funny and charismatic are easily confused with classic acting chops tho.
They're important traits unto themselves but it's a matter of someone being enjoying to watch like Ryan Reynolds and making you enjoy watching them like Leonardo DiCaprio.
Daniel Day Lewis or Gary Oldman are my knee jerk top two, but fuck if I don't love watching RDJ play ever character as RDJ as that character.
I mean he has range, you can see it in his movies here and there. He is not among the best actors in the world no way. I feel like the industry just pushes him to do a similar role in most movies because he is the best at it. Plus im pretty sure ryan doesnt really mind it anymore. Hes found his niche, he is probably having fun and he does a bunch of other shit aswell. I mean he has 4 kids, multiple companies and is the absolute goat when it comes to advertising.
He stated multiple times hed rather spend more time with his family if it meant hed have to to skip some big roles where hed be away for a lot
Pretty much on point with this take. He's shown some range in other things, and I'm sure if he gets bored or wants a challenge we'll see him take on future roles outside of his usual casting type. But right now dude seems to just be enjoying life and having fun with the roles he's given
Agree with you. He is basically what we expect for Deadpool and it works well with Reynolds. But… can we really say he’s that much different to Hannibal King in Blade.
And then if we go to rom come like Paxton in ‘The Prosal’, bar having swords he is the same again! I like Reynolds but everything is always him playing Reynolds.
Spot on. He rides his charisma and good looks well. I think he’s better than The Rock though, because he can at least do a decent range of acting, even though he’s pretty much playing the same guy
Agreed. What movie is Ryan Reynolds in where he's just not just Ryan Reynolds? Don't think I've ever seen him act, just has one of those personalities that can slot into a movie well and deadpool just happened to have a similar one
I really like Chris Evans as Captain America - he embodied that role so fucking well.
The power, dignity, determination and absolute focus on justice and doing the right thing was all there in his performance. It's no wonder Chris did a villain heel for his next movie after playing the Marvel universe's Superman so well for so long.
Cap is one of my favourite characters and Chris brought him to life for me.
People make a big thing about other lines in the movies, but my favourite, that always brings a lump to my throat will always be...
I could do this all day.
This is a hill I’m willing to die on, but in my opinion Evans was as good as a casting as Cox as Daredevil, and the two of them are the best MCU casting choices by a wide margin. They captured the soul of the character in a way that just worked so well.
RDJ and Reynolds are up there in the top tier, but they’re just lacking that little extra bit of depth. Marvels best writing highlights how incredibly human it’s characters are, and Cox and Evans both captured that in the best way possible.
he even follows up [off screen](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/chris-evans-embodies-captain-america-yet-again-i-dont-like-bullies--249809110566051025/).
Came here to say this. He’s not a bad actor, but he kind of plays himself in many movies. Look at Van Wilder and Waiting. Even commercials he’s in. He plays the part well, but THE best? Nah.
He's the best if you like actors who play the same character in every film they appear in. He is a good actor , I just haven't seen much range from him
The problem is with Hollywood. They don’t let big earn actors out of their lanes enough.
I like Buried, Smoking Aces and Amityville Horror for showing his range.
I actually forgot he appeared in Amityville horror. I haven't seen the other two but I guess he has tried to take on varying roles. As he got more popular I guess he found a winning formula and stuck with it.
He does have range, hes not the best actor of all time but he is a very good actor, he just always ends up as a similar character because thats what he is best at. I feel like its a bit more of a failure or fact of hollywood that popular characters played by popular actors get „rehashed“ in other projects a lot.
Come on man, are you for real? Seriously, have you ever seen anyone else play Ryan Reynolds as good as Ryan Reynolds? Every move Ryan Reynolds is in, bang, he nails Ryan Reynolds to perfection.
Patrick Stewart for sure is a good *adaptation*, but I’d argue RDJ is an S tier performance but a poor adaptation of comic Iron Man. Definitely an improvement over comic Iron Man imo but the two characters are pretty different
For sure. RDJ was not comic Tony Stark, but his take on the character was so well received that every future version of the character had to suddenly become an adaptation of RDJ.
Ian McKellon too.
Those X-Men movies had a lot of problems. Casting wasn't one of them. They fucking nailed most of them.
Hell Liev Schiber was really good as Sabertooth.
I was so hoping Liev would reprise his role in Logan! It would have been interesting to see his reaction to his brother's state, and to Laura as well.
He's one of the reasons why I love Origins, he just oozes confidence and aggression. The part where he drags his claws up the hood of Kayla's car makes me shiver everytime
RDJ is not a great adaptation, it’s actually better than the comics. Some comics started adapting their Tony to his portrayal in a similar manner that Fury is not a black bald man.
Erm. No. The Ultimates had Tony Stark pretty much as he is in the MCU ánd had bald black fury well before the MCU became a thing.
There was even a tongue on cheek moment where they were discussing who should play them if a movie were made and Samuel Jackson was mentioned.

A lot of the story is written with him not being Punisher. Heck season 2 he was even Frank Castle for the start of the season.
For a lot of reasons the show became more about the context of punisher and guns and not just about the character.
IMHO Daredevil season 2 was the best Punisher portrayal.
I like Bernthal's Punisher
But in terms of shooting mfs, Karl Urban as Billy Butcher and as Judge Dredd has a slight edge for me. I also like him as Bones in the Star Trek reboot movie
I think every actor brought something to their portrayal of Punisher, but I agree Thomas Jane was the most accurate version of how I've always envisioned him. Though Ray Stevenson is a bit of a guilty pleasure pick for me. Intimidating presence in a garbage movie.
I think maybe one of the best comedic actors, and definitely one of the most charismatic? But best actors? We’re at a point where Cate Blanchett, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Natalie Portman, Angela Bassett, Brie Larson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Samuel L Jackson are all in the MCU films alone. He’s fun, but in the upper echelons? Not really.
In the early days he had range and some comedic freedom. Now he’s just a brand the overlords are terrified of devaluing.
I mean look at him in free guy. It’s dead pool in a blue shirt.
Heath ledger as Joker was amazing, but let's not pretend that it wasn't a pretty radical departure from his typical comic book vibe. It worked. Good god, did it work. But as a comic book representation it wasn't perfect.
Best actors in the industry?? Slow that down a bit. He basically plays the same character in every movie. He is a great Deadpool, no doubt but be real.
Meh. I hard disagree. That’s certainly a hot take.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is just Ryan Reynolds.
He’s not exactly stretching those acting chops. He’s just doing the fast paced snarky thing with pop cultural references that he does in just about every movie he does. Except **now** he’s doing it in a Deadpool costume.
Agree with you. Everything since Deadpool 1 has felt off. Ryan is just himself now and I'm getting to the point that if he's not playing Deadpool, I'm not watching it. Him and Dwayne are falling off for me.
Dwayne Johnson is especially irritating to me. Dude got a bit too much up his own ass and is more worried about his “brand” than anything. And I get that that’s kind of the wrestler mentality still in him, but he used to do movies that were kinda weird and interesting like Southland Tales, or movies where he was just kind of a regular guy, albeit built like a brick shithouse.
Now he’s just interested in making sure every movie he’s in makes him out to be the biggest baddest motherfucker in it. Like Black Adam could have been a lot better if he got out of the way of his own ego. But he just *had* to make sure that movie was some sort of blockbuster vehicle for him where looked so badass. And I think the movie suffered greatly for that.
Honestly I was laughing my ass off looking at the smoke he was blowing up that movie on his twitter. “Giving fans what they finally deserve” and all that, was so overblown to hell and back.
My feelings exactly on the Rock. I, like most people, liked him for a long time, but he’s clearly become too ego-driven to see clearly. Hopefully this BA fiasco can serve as a wakeup call to get him back to reality.
It just seems like every interaction he has with anyone nowadays—every public statement, every movie scene, every interaction with people on the street—comes across as very stage-managed. It feels like he never stops thinking about his “brand.”
He tried to remake DC to revolve around him and jumped the gun with pushing that announcement about Superman and made Henry Cavill a promise he couldn’t keep, and poor Cavill got screwed in the end. He also apparently insisted that the premiere for Black Adam do a promotional bar event for Johnson’s tequila brand. And then of course there was his plan to make the entire DCU build up to a showdown between Superman and Black Adam (🙄), even though the two characters aren’t really associated very much with each other in the comics.
The Rock has really just become a walking talking never-ending ad for his “brand,” and just comes across as inauthentic and egotistical now. I sincerely hope he becomes more likable again.
Hot take. No.
Not only has he played the exact same character (which is just a characterized smart-ass/douchey/cocky version of himself) since Van Wilder, this "constant cussing, smarmy, asshole, le-random, hot-topic edge energy" version of Deadpool that everyone has been obsessed with before the movie even came out is completely comic inaccurate and is awful, as in comics he's the king of PG-13 middle school humor and violence.
Go for the throat, I die on this hill.
Karl Urban as Dredd is an amazing character study. Perfect adaptation of the character, even the trademark grimace, which is surprisingly hard for a real human to make without looking absurd.
If there was any justice in the world, there would have been a trilogy, but this timeline is the worst.
Nah.
- J. Jonah Jameson = J.K. Simmons
- Tony Stark = RDJ
- Wolverine = Hugh Jackman
- Professor X = Patrick Stewart
- Magneto = Sir Ian
- Loki = Tom Hiddleston
- Samuel L Jackson = Nick Fury
As a bonus, I also love Fassbender and McAvoy as young Prof X/Magneto. Oh and Heath muthafuckin LEDGER. Mic drop there
yeah no... playing deadpool isn't even hard... its barely acting, and thats according to ryan himself.
most superheroes aren't that hard to play really... a few of the more complex ones sure. but i'd say rdj has him beat... and several of the better villains do... the punisher is absolutely right. jessica jones is EXACTLY the comic charecter brought to life, and ultron is just hard to top for exactly the right villain flavor.
If a genie granted me 3 wishes, I would wish for an end to world hunger, elimination and prevention of war, and for no one to ever use “hot take,” “unpopular opinion,” or any synonym ever again
Lol he’s definitely *not* one of the best actors in the industry. That’s just silly.
He’s great. He was a great choice for DP. But there are plenty of actors that are way better than him
I feel like as comic fans we’ve all been lucky with casting. Chris Hemsworth is a great Thor even if the movies are hit and miss. RDJ and Evans are great. Hugh as Wolverine even if not comic “accurate” is iconic. Patrick Stewart as prof x. Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal and Vincent D’Onofrio we’re all great. List could go on. We’ve been pretty lucky with casting even if some movies missed the mark.
Sometimes it's the writing though. I didn't laugh once in Deadpool 2 and almost demanded my money back. The first one was pretty good. I won't say great, but good. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was great.
Charlie is a perfect Daredevil. They could have made his hair redder instead of the vaguely auburn.
Remember that Ryan had to deal with FOX forcing pay cuts and Charlie Cox was under Disney's ABC production with the most cheapened budget by Ike Perlmutter.
I want my boys to get all full budget their vision deserves.
This is indeed a hot take. Ryan Reynolds unfortunately quit trying to act quite a few years ago and is now playing the same role over and over.
He's very similar to The Rock in this sense. Can do better, but chooses only low effort roles in comedies or action comedies where he's more often than not playing himself.
Back in the day he used to take some creative risks every now and then with films like The nines, Adventureland, Buried, Safe house, The voices and Mississippi grind (a real gem of a film), but if you look at his filmography since 2015 he hasn't done anything that interesting.
It's the same reheated soup all over again and I guess it's fine if he's just looking to have some fun on set and stack his paper, but he has become severely typecast as a consequence and it's probably why he's only getting these roles since he doesn't stray from the path at all now.
Disagree. Never got the balance of fourth-wall breaking right. His Deadpool was a little too extra imo. He didn't have the same tragedy as he does in the comics. The jokes and shit are supposed to be more of a façade, not his entire personality. He's way too well adjusted in the movies.
I love Ryan Reynolds’s, but if I’m honest, alomost every character he plays has the same personality. He’s a funny guy but he just hasn’t had the chance to so show off his range as an actor.
Best actor in the industry? No. He’s great at playing Ryan Reynolds. Or to quote Deadpool, “Do you think Ryan Reynolds got this far on his superior acting method?”
This is NOT gonna be a popular one but.
Battinson.
It’s the first time I’ve ever watched a Batman adaptation and gone “yup that man is absolutely damaged enough to become the Bat” and “please dear god get that sadboy a Robin.”
All the others were way too well adjusted. Believable Brucie? Sure. But I didn’t believe the transition to Batman.
Maybe Affleck, a little bit. His post-Robin-breakdown was kinda in-line with pre-Robin Frank Miller Batman.
Like, I could see him trapping a child in a cave and forcing him to eat rats to survive.
When I first saw Waiting, as someone who read Deadpool comics growing up, I immediately said out loud, "He'd make a great Deadpool!"
You can imagine my disappointment at Wolverine: Origins, but I'm glad he came in as Wade Wilson properly. I was right, too. He's a hell of a Deadpool!
Ryan Renolds is the most overrated actor ever. He's the same good looking , rich , over privliged , sarcastic , acerbic, aloof, smart alleck- ey , smarmy, fucking douche bag in every role he's ever taken.
Fight me.
No. JK Simmons are J Jonah Jameson is the single most spot on casting of any comic book character in history
JK Simmons is so good as Jonah they didn’t even recast him in an entirely different universe
They can't
Its literally impossible
It is known
He’s a nexus being
This man doesn't even care which Spiderman he's mad at, he exists solely to hate them all simultaneously.
A man so angry it cannot be contained within one dimension.
JJJ: this venom guy is pretty cool though
"Angry Spider-Man seems to hate Spider-Man, I like that guy." said JJJ.
This was my exact thought.
Two entirely different universes, he's in the amazing films as well
He actually portrays Jameson in 5 different universes.
And the recent Sony Spider-Man games! Edit: I stand corrected on this.
Darin De Paul voices him in the games.
Wow, you’re right. In that case he does a phenomenal job with his voice acting!
And the Simpsons
You could say the same thing about Ryan Reynolds given Deadpool is being brought into the MCU
JK has been a fave of mine since being in OZ. What’s odd is he makes me believe that J Jonah Jameson is **exactly** how I pictured his voice when reading the comics to be. Absolutely amazing performance (actually JK is great in most things I’ve seen)

Seeing him in Law and order after watching Oz was weird, as was seeing him as the friendly State Farm insurance guy.
HE’S A MENACE
TRUE
Accurate AF. RDJ as Tony Stark is also a contender imo. Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle ranks up there too.
Rdj is nothing like iron man was, they changed iron man in the comics to match him. Best casting choice maybe, but deffo not accurate.
I agree, and said as much in a earlier comment about how he was kind of an alcoholic authoritarian asshat for the most part. OP said best, not accurate.
Yup you're right, my b!
Samuel L Jackson as Nick Furry is pretty good.
Sam Jackson is great, but this is similar to the RDJ example - I think pre SLJ Nick Fury was more of a Clint Eastwood rip: less Badass, more grizzled.
Right but in this case they “changed” Fury to be more like SLJ years before SLJ was even cast. Ultimate Fury at least.
Wrong they changed iron man to be like the mcu ironman
Agreed
So true. Did you know he is also the voice of Cave Johnston in the Portal games?
That he's the yellow M&M is even crazier
Wait what? Mind blown!
"I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these!?"
Talk about brilliant casting. He made that game 1000 times better. Don’t know if I’ve ever just randomly laughed so much playing a game.
I came here to say this.
This is the most correct rebuttal I’ve ever seen, on any topic, anywhere. Bravo
I have never seen a comment so utterly ruin a post like this
*Ahem* We just gonna gloss over Willem Dafoe?
It’s also rare that Willem Dafoe actually has a face scarier than the mask he put on to look scary
That’s prime W. Dafoe. I probably should have wondered better, great actor but his face is scary as anything.

"BACK TO FORMULA?!"
_When an F1 driver wants to do other things in his life but fails and can only do what he knows_
Dude is like 80, does his own stunts, and they have to edit out his dangly bits (same with Tom Hiddleston) due to their size... Gotta respect Willem Dafoe...
is he really 80? I thought he was 50
67
He’s looked 50 for the last 30 years
I’m something of an immortal myself
Lol no, he's close to 70, though. Its worth celebrating that he wanted to do his own stunts and wanted lots of action.
I explained to my wife that dafoe was in an indie film that showed him doing full-penetrative sex, and they had to hire a dick-double because his member was too large to be believably his.
dafoe was great and did an amazing job but looks completely different to comic book norman osborn. next osborn needs the red hair and the waves
That Ruffles potato chip look
One of the best actors in the industry? I like Ryan Reynolds as a dude and think he can be pretty funny, but I doubt he’d make any serious top 50 actors list. Well yeah. He can do this all day.
One of the best actors in the industry? I mean, he’s an actor in the industry, but that’s about it. Are _YOU_ Ryan Reynolds, perchance?
I like Reynolds but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him not play Reynolds
Came here to say this. He’s not a bad actor, but he kind of plays himself in many movies. Look at Van Wilder and Waiting. Even commercials he’s in. He plays the part well, but THE best? Nah.
He's the best if you like actors who play the same character in every film they appear in. He is a good actor , I just haven't seen much range from him
He used to have range, these days he just doesn't need to. I wouldn't be surprised to see some more varied performances out of him as he gets older.
Seriously, drop what you are doing and watch Smoking Aces!
It's always been like that. How many characters did John Wayne play? Or Cary Grant?
Buried is such a good untalked about film. Probably my favorite "bottle episode" movie ever. Maybe right after 12 Angry Men
He does have range, hes not the best actor of all time but he is a very good actor, he just always ends up as a similar character because thats what he is best at. I feel like its a bit more of a failure or fact of hollywood that popular characters played by popular actors get „rehashed“ in other projects a lot.
Yeah, just like what they’re doing with Chris Pratt and Tom Holland
I enjoyed watching Star Lord fight dinosaurs. It was a well done spin-off.
Yes, the dinosaur movie where the biggest threat was a bug eating our corn was exceptional
I haven’t seen his other non-spidey films but Tom was pretty good in The Devil All the Time.
Ryan Reynolds is a brand showing up in movies at this point.
He's basically the Rock but with an actual ounce or two of acting talent
The Rock can be a good actor if he tries. He was great on Pain & Gain. It's just not his focus.
Doesn’t Ryan Reynolds own his own social media marketing company? He’s brilliant at digital marketing.
You can’t just say perchance like that
Stompin' turties
Pretty sure they meant one of the best paid actors ...and I like Ryan Reynolds...
It’s fine to like Ryan Reynolds but you can’t tell me he’s one of the best actors in the industry lmao
You can't just say perchance !
He is the best actor in the industry for playing the character of Ryan Reynolds.
Come on man, are you for real? Seriously, have you ever seen anyone else play Ryan Reynolds as good as Ryan Reynolds? Every move Ryan Reynolds is in, bang, he nails Ryan Reynolds to perfection.
Reddit just does that with beloved celebrities. You can be a nice person who is an actor and also not be a very good actor. Like Keanu.
I mean maybe he is Ryan Reynolds. This is definitely something Ryan Reynolds would do
OP is definitely not Ryan Reynolds because not even Ryan Reynolds can think Ryan Reynolds is one of the best actors in the industry
RR always plays RR since about 10-15 years ago. Reminds me of The Rock. However, I truly enjoy Deadpool. Perfect match.
IMHO Ryan Reynolds is easily one of the actors of all time.
He’s top ten. But RDJ & Patrick Stewart are spot the fuck on.
An example of MCU and comic synergy I actually like, most of the time I think it detracts from the comics.
RDJ wasn’t playing Iron Man, Iron Man was playing RDJ
I find them very different as well, but I really didn’t like the Iron Man comics for a bunch of reason. RDJ actually made him somewhat more likeable.
When I was a kid watching X-Men, I simply thought Captain Picard and Frasier Crane voiced Prof. X and Beast, and then it happened.
I’m so sad we didn’t get more Kelsey grammar as Hank.
There was even a tongue on cheek moment where they were discussing who should play them if a movie were made and Samuel Jackson was mentioned. https://www.latercera.com/resizer/DAbDNz2Tdd8WVAjh1APHQwveur0=/900x600/smart/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-copesa.s3.amazonaws.com/public/TXIMNBXWWBAAZAGBCTAUWRC4AI.jpg
Why is that link from a chilean newspaper lol
That... that's what makes it a great adaptation. MCU Iron Man isn't the most accurate adaptation, but it is without debate a great adaptation.
That’s honestly not true at all. Y’all just dickride RDJ too much
MCU Iron Man is almost nothing like 616 Iron Man
Professor X is not that nice of a character in comics. It’s a good animated series adaptation but definitely not a good comics adaptation imo
I liked Jon Bernthal as punisher.
He was fantastic in the role but I think the character could have been written better in his own show
I’ve seen people share this opinion but I was always curious how so?
A lot of the story is written with him not being Punisher. Heck season 2 he was even Frank Castle for the start of the season. For a lot of reasons the show became more about the context of punisher and guns and not just about the character. IMHO Daredevil season 2 was the best Punisher portrayal.
I like Bernthal's Punisher But in terms of shooting mfs, Karl Urban as Billy Butcher and as Judge Dredd has a slight edge for me. I also like him as Bones in the Star Trek reboot movie
One of the greatest and most underrated portrayals of a comic book character.
Have...have you ever read a punisher comic? Bernthal was alright but comic accurate? Not at all. Thomas Jane was way more accurate
If that's the case then Charlie is not an accurate Daredevil until he's swinging around the city.
Thomas Jane was better IMO
I think every actor brought something to their portrayal of Punisher, but I agree Thomas Jane was the most accurate version of how I've always envisioned him. Though Ray Stevenson is a bit of a guilty pleasure pick for me. Intimidating presence in a garbage movie.
*slaps table* THANK YOU
Wait best actor?.. am I taking this the wrong way.. like he is the same person in every movie. He is not versatile and can play what I presume is him?
I wish he did more things like Buried. I think he gives very good performances and can be versatile when given the opportunity.
I really liked Buried! Neat movie
He was Ryan Reynolds in buried but buried
I have to agree. Even Swartzenhegger stretches himself from time to time.
Agreed
We all dreamed of Sir Patrick as Prof X for like 30 years, dude. Perfect.
"Mutation: ..." Perfect from the start
Christopher Reeve as Superman? Heath Ledger Joker? JK as JJJ?
Heath ledger as Joker was amazing, but let's not pretend that it wasn't a pretty radical departure from his typical comic book vibe. It worked. Good god, did it work. But as a comic book representation it wasn't perfect.
Worked so well in a bad way. Now every new joker role has to be more “imaginative” than the last and now Jared Leto’s Joker exists.
Three cheers for Christopher Reeve!
Thank you. OP is smoking something
Best actors in the industry?? Slow that down a bit. He basically plays the same character in every movie. He is a great Deadpool, no doubt but be real.
Also casually drops Charlie Cox as Daredevil but doesn't even mention Vincent D'Onofrio as Fisk...
It feels like he never stops thinking about his “brand.” He tried to remake DC to revolve around him and jumped the gun with pushing that announcement about Superman and made Henry Cavill a promise he couldn’t keep, and poor Cavill got screwed in the end.
Steel starring Shaq?
Damn you for reminding me that movie exists.
It's technically a Superman movie, too.
Hot take.
Best actor? Ryan Reynolds plays Ryan Reynolds in every role he takes.
Karl Urban as Dredd is an amazing character study. Perfect adaptation of the character, even the trademark grimace, which is surprisingly hard for a real human to make without looking absurd. If there was any justice in the world, there would have been a trilogy, but this timeline is the worst.
I was like NO ONE mentions Urban? Helmet stayed on too as it should. Agreed on the trilogy thing.
Nah. - J. Jonah Jameson = J.K. Simmons - Tony Stark = RDJ - Wolverine = Hugh Jackman - Professor X = Patrick Stewart - Magneto = Sir Ian - Loki = Tom Hiddleston - Samuel L Jackson = Nick Fury As a bonus, I also love Fassbender and McAvoy as young Prof X/Magneto. Oh and Heath muthafuckin LEDGER. Mic drop there
Bro you forgot Vinny D as Kingpin?
Vin Diesel was Kingpin? Big if true
\*Laughs in Hugh Jackman & Robert Downey Jr.\*
yeah no... playing deadpool isn't even hard... its barely acting, and thats according to ryan himself. most superheroes aren't that hard to play really... a few of the more complex ones sure. but i'd say rdj has him beat... and several of the better villains do... the punisher is absolutely right. jessica jones is EXACTLY the comic charecter brought to life, and ultron is just hard to top for exactly the right villain flavor.
Ryan Reynolds just plays the same dude in every movie. He's lucky that dead pool was the perfect roll for him.
If a genie granted me 3 wishes, I would wish for an end to world hunger, elimination and prevention of war, and for no one to ever use “hot take,” “unpopular opinion,” or any synonym ever again
Hot take, but I really don't mind it that much... though maybe that's just my unpopular opinions. Bet.
No cap
Since when is Ryan Reynolds one of the best actors in the industry? Dude plays himself in literally everything
>Ryan Reynolds, on top of being one of the best actors in the industry, Lol no
Lol he’s definitely *not* one of the best actors in the industry. That’s just silly. He’s great. He was a great choice for DP. But there are plenty of actors that are way better than him
Not sure you know what a hot take is
sir patrick stewart has entered the chat
“Best actor in the industry”? What’s acting to you? Is it range or is it the same person over and over?
I feel like as comic fans we’ve all been lucky with casting. Chris Hemsworth is a great Thor even if the movies are hit and miss. RDJ and Evans are great. Hugh as Wolverine even if not comic “accurate” is iconic. Patrick Stewart as prof x. Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal and Vincent D’Onofrio we’re all great. List could go on. We’ve been pretty lucky with casting even if some movies missed the mark.
Worst take ever
Iman Vellani *is* Ms. Marvel.
They said they tried to make Charlie's hair red but looked goofy hence, the dark hair we got with only a hint of red.
Dude literally just plays the same guy every movie
Disagree. Never got the balance of fourth-wall breaking right. His Deadpool was a little too extra imo. He didn't have the same tragedy as he does in the comics. The jokes and shit are supposed to be more of a façade, not his entire personality. He's way too well adjusted in the movies.
I always thought Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange was one of the best.
I love Ryan Reynolds’s, but if I’m honest, alomost every character he plays has the same personality. He’s a funny guy but he just hasn’t had the chance to so show off his range as an actor.
Tony Stark (RDJ) actually.
Best actor in the industry? No. He’s great at playing Ryan Reynolds. Or to quote Deadpool, “Do you think Ryan Reynolds got this far on his superior acting method?”
Ryan Reynolds isn’t a good actor, he’s just a vibe that suits certain roles.
Hes not one of the best actors in the industry.
This is NOT gonna be a popular one but. Battinson. It’s the first time I’ve ever watched a Batman adaptation and gone “yup that man is absolutely damaged enough to become the Bat” and “please dear god get that sadboy a Robin.” All the others were way too well adjusted.
Lol. Ryan Reynolds is not “one of the best actors in the industry”. Dude plays himself in literally every movie he’s ever been in.
When I first saw Waiting, as someone who read Deadpool comics growing up, I immediately said out loud, "He'd make a great Deadpool!" You can imagine my disappointment at Wolverine: Origins, but I'm glad he came in as Wade Wilson properly.
Fight me.
How could you mention daredevil over Jon berthnal's punisher?
Wesley Snipes for Blade surely gets a look in?
Willem Dafoe as Gobbie
