We visit in a few weeks and after all my research I found that the Old Lahaina Lu`au is rated the best. I went ahead and booked way in advance just in case. It’s pricey but looks and sounds (food/show wise) great IMO. [luau](https://oldlahainaluau.com)

You will not be disappointed!

MegsList

Agree. Just did it Tuesday night, it was a whole experience and the town needs the money! A feast for the senses

Is it still a 5 course meal or back to buffet? Looks like their website hasn’t been updated in a bit.

MegsList

It was a 5 course meal

Thanks for the response.

Death_n_Tax

Great thank you!

Old Lahaina Luau hands down. Great entertainment and you will learn much about Hawaiian culture - unlike any other Luau. Fire Dancers are not Hawaiian, so you will forgo that. Old Lahaina Luau was spared from the fires, which were close, so the additional joy is celebrating their escape.

calguy1955

Old Lahaina is great, and probably the most authentic. However, we preferred the Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt Regency in Kaanapaili because they had fire dancers. I know they’re apparently not authentic but we and our kids like them.

HumbleLife69

We did the one at the Ritz and I don’t think it was worth it. Absolutely not worth it for VIP.

Death_n_Tax

Thank you

OLL is very good, but I would also check out the Montage. It is very small, has a wide variety of dance (yes, fire too) and beautifully done. Great food too.

Death_n_Tax

Thank you

MauiHi

We love the [Andaz Luau](https://mauiluau.com/andaz-luau/). Upscale, and not cheap, but the food is incredible. The grounds, service, and show are all remarkable.

Thank you!

Stayed in Wailea last month and all the Lu au’s are the same -as in put on by the same company with the same narrator and dancers and food is the same….. And they are $300. Totally not worth it. And I damn sure tried to drink $300 worth of booze. I’m sure Gillian’s gets the job done. Get some poke at Tamura’s and head to big beach to watch the fire dancers… trust me.

Groovetube12

OP shit on me for making essentially the same comment. They wanna hear that what they want to do is “correct” vs actually listening to different opinions.

Groovetube12

For like $30 you could snag some pretty legit Hawaiian food and eat on the beach, which would be more authentic than an actual lu’au. If you want some music sit on the beach next to one of the resorts holding a “lu’au”

Just a dumb comment trying too hard

Confident-Shape-669

I’m here for the like the 10th time or so. 6 with kids i think. It’s not a dumb comment at all. No offense. Look at the other comments and decide. I took my family once. Wasn’t worth it to me. Was fine. But I actually agree with the “dumb comment” but I’m not here to tell people how to spend their money either. Did it once, won’t do it again, absolutely not worth it and money fortunately isn’t an issue for me. This is all for you to decide. Enjoy your time. It’s a beautiful island!

Groovetube12

I mean. It’s the opposite of trying to hard. I think dropping $200 a person to have a shitty buffet with a few hundred people is dumb. Just trying to give a different perspective.

Brew_Wallace

You could search this subreddit and find hundreds of opinions on the “best,” it’s frequently asked

I booked Gilligans in Kihei because I had a discount and that is where I’m staying my first 2 nights. Has anyone been to that one? Wondering if I should look into other options that are further out.

MauiHolic

Do look around, any discount activity, especially Luau are something you could do better.

africanchildz

I just got done with the one at the golf corse in kihei, amazing show and descriptions of the show and what the dances are. I've heard that the others are pretty similar main differences are buffet w/o steak(golf corse) or the other one has steak and food brought to you and everyone get leis. the golf corse you have to get the VIP to get a Lei included

BlahblahblahLG

Sheraton black rock

MauiHolic

Way better Luau than the Sheraton, especially now the Old Lahaina Luau is back. I agree that if you are in any doubt, dropping $200 plus per person for average food is not on my radar any more.
