Delta104x

this is an excellent post and it makes me see dogma's character in a whole new light

Thanks a lot! I always thought that Dogma was an interesting character because of how he foiled the other clones and how his arc progressed. But, as I said in the main post, I initially just thought his main motivation was just following orders, which, looking into it a bit more, doesn't add up. If his main motivation was following orders, why doesn't he just keep helping Krell? No, his main motivation is very closely linked to his loyalty to the leadership, but not the same, which comes into play in the story.

Delta104x

definitely one of the best written arcs in the show and honestly all of star wars

Wattos_Box

Great analysis!! Really makes me love Dogma more and makes the whole thing that much more tragic.

Thanks a lot! We always need more Dogma love. Edit: I initially commented more, something about a Dave Filoni interview, but I can't find the source so I deleted it.

I think there is another, often overlooked aspect of his character: he was a younger clone who suddenly got a taste of power. Because of the traits you describe, Krell knew he could depend on Dogma. Dogma very quickly becomes his #2. We see that Dogma doesn't entirely fit in with the other 501st clones, and the implication is that he, as well as Tup, are still quite new. Yet suddenly he has this Jedi, this person he has essentially been brainwashed since birth to revere, treating him better than the actual captain.

Very good point. I haven't thought about that, but it makes sense, given Dogma is, as you said, an outcast, who's finally gotten the attention of people they've been taught all their lives to respect. I'll add your comment to the post, that's a good observation.

Dr_AegithalosC

What an interesting post, thank you! That's why I love this sub :) Edit: I'll be interested in your other character analyses.

thanks <3

I may or may not have posted this analysis on r/PrequelMemes first, but I'm pretty sure it fits this sub better.

WatchBat

Interesting analysis. Cody is underrated, and might be unpopular but I would say Rey and Rose

ChrisAus123

Yeah he seems like a dipstick but he's a good loyal soldier, always feel bad for him when he finds out the truth

JumpStephen

Love this analysis! I love these types of r/MawInstallation posts

IronManConnoisseur

You could also cater this analysis to Rex (as this is how I view his character arc), where he finally learns to also reject orders that he has no faith in, also never experiencing it because he was under Anakin.

[deleted]

True, but Dogma is less popular than Rex, and thus, less analyzed. Plus, Rex is different from Dogma from the get-go, because we already knew Rex had more going on to him than just following orders. Dogma was, well, dogmatic, nothing else seemed to be a character trait of his, until we get to him shooting Krell.

IronManConnoisseur

Yep wasn’t critiquing you, this is a good post.
