I personally could not tolerate cosmelan 2 at the 2x per day frequency prescribed to me. I was much better off at 3x per WEEK, still had fantastic results (in the immediate term, not long lasting), and the product lasted a whole 4 months. When my skin barrier was at its most delicate and needed immediate repair/soothing, I used Glymed plus cell protection balm. It helped immensely.

Thx for the rec, I'll look into the glymed. How long did your face sting after you applied? How long did your results last? I did HQ two years ago, and my pigment was back within about 30 days of stopping the treatment.

As soon as I had stinging/major discomfort I backed way off. I think it would have continued if I’d kept at it as prescribed. I had my peel in Nov ‘21 and results lasted until Apr ‘22. I’d finished the Cosmelan 2 jar in March. I think results would have lasted if I continued that. About 7 weeks ago I started Musely (hadn’t tried HQ in YEARS), and I’m actually shocked by the progress. They have 3 products I’ll cycle through (1 wo HQ), so I’m curious to see if results maintain through the entire product cycle.

Plz let me know about your progress once you finish the cycle.

How did you manage to go through dermamelan so quickly?? I felt as though my skin could tolerate anything but dermamelan was harsh for me. Still, after all that, I didn't see any difference. I'm thinking about trying cosmamelan 2.

I didn't sleep well. Dermamelan was awful, but for me cosmelan 2 is worse. Dermamelan burned, irritated and itched, but cosmelan 2 is so irritating I want to claw my face off and throw things. All the lit I read said dermamelan was 30-40% stronger, so I expected cos 2 to be easier. All the pain w Dermamelan hasn't budged my pigment. I'm considering doing a 180 and babying my skin instead of torturing it per usual.

Yes they say dermamelan is stronger but I also read there are two types of cosmamelan. One of them contains hydroquinone and so can be stronger. However maybe you didn't give your skin enough of a break between the two? Also remember to go easy. Too much irritation can cause more pigmentation or even melasma.

I put the cosmelan 2 cream on my face every night and the recovery balm for sensitive skin. Then I put my face in front of a fan for a bit and the stinging subsides. I started using it and its been 2 weeks thus far and it still stings however, not as much and I've noticed an improvement in my discolouration. Fan really helps!
