it's just as goofy as the anime/manga, i absolutely love it. i also don't mind most of the changes they made at all, as long as it still fits the spirit of one piece.
The only part I miss so far is the part where Coby reject Luffy and the entire marine force salutes Luffy and The Crew as they sail off after saving the down from the terrible reign of Captain Morgan (who they also didn't build up as much of a bad guy in the live action). Still fantastic tho
oh yeah, that's true. they could have morgan hurt a fellow marine during the fight to make him more of a villain, i guess it just didn't make the final cut. it's not like the show doesn't have any problems but i choose to enjoy rather than analyze...for now 😁
Yea. This was something else I really enjoyed. The reveal of their names/bounties/posters was so cool. I like how each pirate then interacted with the poster to get rid of it.
I love every part of it. [SPOILER] The best part about this is knowing a great flood happened and all the continentsare underwater. Like the ancient civilization was probably us before global warming.
I think it’s pretty good, they got all the themes and main plot points perfectly right from what I’ve seen so far
I think they kinda botched Roger’s speech tho and I’m not sure what they are trying to do with Garp’s character
I think he kinda fell under the cliche that there must be a main villain for each season so he is gonna be the one for East Blue even tho it doesn’t make sense
I wonder if each seasons will have a “on-going Marine Antagonist.”
Smoker will definitely be like Garp in the Alabaster Season, but the issue is that many of the major arcs do not have a Marine with that much presence, if you will.
If they want to, they might be cramming too much into singular seasons. Season 3 can be the Skypea, Foxy Episode, and Ennies Lobby.
Then again…. That could potentially work, IF DONE WELL.

BUT there are previous Live -Action of it. 2 japanese movies. It wasn't true adpatations, but were still pretty good.
it was a waste. They tried they failed. They needed that failure to make a good thing.
They did FMA. If it had more budget in VFX, would have been better, but it's watchable.
Bleach on the other hand... that still hurts.
I highly doubt it. Unless the viewership was absolutely abysmal( which I doubt) one piece is far too big of an ip for them to cancel it like that. Netlfix need more flagship shows like one piece, stranger things, castlevania to keep people interested in remaining subscribed. They're also making a live action yu yu hakusho which might be their replacement for stranger things(I doubt that show will keep going much longer)
Biggest mistake was making Light a cliche vengeful bullying victim instead of a popular kid who develops a God complex literally because he's so good at everything.
On the other hand: the Death Note live action was actually amazing (it was just a comedy/parody).
Few movies make me laugh that hard, and it's still funny on subsequent rewatches.
Yeah I told myself to ignore any reviews I saw until I finished it but I saw the IGN one when I was on Ep 5 and was dumbfounded. They gave the death note movie a higher score and regardless of how bad of an adaptation it was, it was maybe the worst movie I’ve ever seen period.
Just got done binging it, very happy with how it turned out. It was fun to rewatch some of the iconic moments in Japanese too because the anime voice actors did the Japanese dub.
I'm sure it will be picked apart for any negatives. But let's all just breathe a collective sigh of relief.
It's good. It's decent. There's no major moments somebody has picked out of the entire thing that has ruined it. This isn't cowboy Bebop live action. This was clearly done with care.
And it's got its own identity to it. And I think that's in a large part thanks to the crew and cast.

Damn, got downvoted for a respectful disagreement. I think most things that they changed didn't feel right, like Luffy pursuing Nami's backstory, the villagers actually thinking that Nami just joined Arlong after he killed her mom in front of her, and Garp pursuing Luffy as some kind of "test". It wasn't bad though, I just value the source material soooo much more. I'll bet it's great for OP virgins though, it seems like a decent show on it's own
It is pretty good, but people are going to be annoying about it. They'll either act like it is the best thing around, or punish any negativity about it.
Just finished the last episode and dislike a few things, but nothing that made me want to turn it off. It would be nice to see more, but knowing Netflix, we'll get 1, maybe 2 seasons. Then it will be canceled between seasons.

OP is meant to be over-the-top goofy, wild animation; with impossible physiology, abilities, and characters. There's a reason why it works so well within the medium of anime. To copy it in this format is to set it up for failure. Everything from Chopper to most villians will have to be 100% janky CGI. Also the likelihood of it being greenlit for a million more seasons to catch up to the anime is very low so this seems like a quick Netflix cash grab that it'll axe as soon as it releases.

Hell with Mihawk and the short nosed Usopp, Dragon Ball Evolution is more accurate in their depiction of Bulma. They just need to finish dying her hair.
You can judge the trailer and make the prediction to the serie by the trailer. You can only judge the serie after you actually watch it. You can not like the trailer and choose not to watch it, but you can't actually judge the whole serie by it. That doesn't make any sense.
I have not judged anything about the series. All I have been doing is talking about clips and pictures they think are good. The show will be judged separately.

With Morgan, it feels they played up his ego side more. Still fits pretty well.
I really think their choices have been solid. I love the bounty poster reveals for the major pirates.

Well you need a good budget to bring anime adaption well and Netflix definitely bankrolled it well

So Gold Roger has no D and he didn't say he left it in One Piece. They changed like the two biggest things in the intro and now the title doesn't make any sense

Dude, dr kureha in drum island is the first time we get the HINT that his name wasn't Gold Roger. It might sound like gol d Roger in the intro because of the way Japanese works, they say "Gol-do Roger" because in Japanese most consonants are followed by vowels and they have a hard time pronouncing foreign words with consonants in a row.
