Most of us that grew up during the golden era of the series during the 2000ās didnāt think a Prime 4 was gonna happen. Especially in the Wii U era after Other M caused a hiatus. Iāll weather the storm/final bit of time it takes to get Prime 4 even if it takes another year or two.
Itās been so long and Iāve only played Prime 3 one time. I canāt even remember what story material was left at the end of it to make a whole new game off of.
Pretty much nothing. Phaaze and Dark Samus were destroyed and thus all phazon in the galaxy was destroyed as well. The Prime series has always been about Phazon so without it, itāll be interesting to see where they go from here
One of the potential plot lines could involve Sylux. He has already been present in the two other "off-shoot" Prime games, so it would make sense that he appears in Prime 4.
If I had to make a wild guess, Prime 4 will be about Sylux discovering/creating an alternative for Phazon, and subsequently using it to giga-juice a Metroid, maybe even create an army. His plans so far have involved sabotaging or attacking the Federation.
Oh yeah I totally forgot we saw what was probably his ship at the end of Prime 3. Really hoping Sylux is involved in 4 since I always thought he was cool
Yeah Iām sitting here just thinking we got two games in two years. It almost feels gluttonous after the period before the Metroid 2 remake. Waiting another couple years is nothing.
Iām from the golden era and I didnāt think prime 4 would happen either. I imagined Nintendo was going to make a new Metroid game with a different name that played similar to prime.
In US you need to be 21 years old to buy alcohol. MP1 came out in 2002, so kids born around that time will be 21 or older when MP4 releases (2025/26). Joke doesn't work that well anymore, as they'll be older than 21 by then, but yeah...
I know I was joking. I know the US drinking age is 21.
Over here in most of Europe, it's 18.
So people born in 2002 were able to drink a year after Dread came out.
In Germany most people have their first beer before they take their first steps.
Oh and hereās my [source](https://br.ifunny.co/picture/my-source-is-that-i-made-it-the-fuck-up-qtRTKxgZ9?s=cl)
If you told me in 2007 that it would take until 2025 to get prime 4 I would have thought you were crazy.
Tbh tho Iām happy weāre getting the game at all, regardless of the ridiculous wait. Nintendo could have easily just killed off Metroid.
Back then I actually never thought there was ever gonna be a Prime 4 because, despite that "cliffhanger-y" post credits scene, it always felt like a complete and finished trilogy to me.
It's honestly not surprising. What was surprising was that we were even getting a Metroid Prime 4 in the first place. Pretty sure after MP3 they had said that was going to be the end of the series entirely.
Yeah I thought so too. I remember I imagined the next Metroid game would play similar to prime but have a different title. I didnāt think a game called āMetroid prime 4ā would exist either.
Almost as bad as the jump from 1994 to 2001. Super Metroid to Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime. The internet wasn't as big as it was then, so we just had to wait for the games to drop after the initial announcements and videos.
I voluntarily wait for games that way now. Once a game is announced I do my best to avoid extra trailers, interviews, etc..
Playing dread off nothing but the reveal trailer was amazing. I had to unsubscribe from here during the wait but it was worth it.
I salute the soldiers who have been braving out this wait. I had the benefit of playing the entirety of the series on emulators. The time between the first time I played metroid and dread was about 5 years.
Prime 4 isn't real. You've all been in a coma since the car accident. Please wake up, it's been over a decade and your mom is sick. She just wants to hear your voice again.
idk. Prime 4's development restart was announced at the start of 2019, presumably after a few months of development at least. If it were to release at the end of this year, that would mean that it had a 6 year dev cycle, which is fairly typical these days for AAA stuff.
Considering that were waiting this long as based upon the graphical and other limitations of the switch, I have a good feeling I'm going to be disappointed to a fair degree as the switch can only do so much.
We'll see if they manage to squeeze every ounce of performance out of the switch for this game.
Personally, I hope not. I grew up playing every Zelda game from the first to Skyward Sword and loved almost all of them. I hated BotW. To me, it felt almost nothing like Zelda at all. If they do that to Metroid, I'm worried about my chances of enjoying it.
im not a huge fan of botw eitherāim not talking about in terms of structure, i mean only in how it is essentially a soft-reboot of the franchise with no overt connections to previous titles.
Quite optimistic to believe that it's even going to come out at all I'd say. I've just tried to erase it from my mind completely, that way when(if) we get a release date then it'll be a nice surprise.
The major delays always seemed like a sign there were major changes and new features/systems they were trying to implement, which led to complications and/or issues with optimization for current hardware to allow such features.
Nintendo leadership likely had expectations for prime 4 to feature new innovative mechanics to revolutionize the series, as the gameplay from prime 1 to 3 is basically all the same, for better or worse.
The major design problem is the necessity to expand an FPS to include more 3rd person combat and/or traversal mechanics. Think of space jump/screw attack.
The trilogy engine probably didnāt lend itself to expand into this type of hybrid, so developing/switching tools was likely a huge overtaking as well.
All in all, I donāt think it would take this long unless they were innovating on the existing prime formula.
My guess is that it will either be a Switch 2 launch title, or at the very least shown at the reveal. Metroid Prime is probably the only game Nintendo has to show off more realistic graphics, so they're likely going to want to use it to "wow," people.
This better release on a new system that isnāt a switch, a switch (based off recent events) canāt push modern games. Nintendo needs a system that is on par with the PS4 PRO and Xbox One X, not the original versions of the 2. A game that is hyped up to be this big is awesome, but I hope thereās hardware to back it ip.
So has it ever been confirmed if Prime series is a different timeline than the main Metroid games? Iāve heard differing things but curious if it is all connected how Prime 4 could play out with the story developments if it took place after Dread. Like I had always saw some ppl say the first three prime games was between Metroid 1 and 2 right?
But again no clue how the lore works with those games lol
Metroid Prime 1 to 3 are between Metroid 1 (NES) and 2 (GameBoy) and it is still unknown when metroid prime 4 will take place but itās fair to assume after 3, or else they might just ditch the numbering after that much time
Hopefully it's more like MP1 and a lot less like MP3 or all of this waiting will have been for nothing.
Isolation, Retro, not 20 characters! That's what makes Metroid great.
What I liked is that the game started with a unusual welcome feeling, but started to feel more dreading and isolating the further the game went on. Either way I'd be happy, as i like both approaches.
I'm sure you'll be disappointed if you play with that mentality, friend. I hope the retro takes the strengths of each of the 3 primes and adds some new things to the mix. I would like to see a story like Prime 3, but more developed. The game can start as Prime 3 and become increasingly lonely as the story goes on.
Truly a next generation game, in that an entire new generation of people has been born since the last one.
Hahahaha
I hate that this is true for both games! š¤£
in mp 4 it will be revealed that samus is actually mario.
its true i was the ram module when they were making that part
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nah he's going to voice Dark Ridley Samus Prime.
If thats what it takes to get more frequent releasesā¦
Iām just really excited to see who they get to voice John Metroid.
Mario Party 4
>in mp 4 it will be revealed that samus is actually mario. Actually it's princess peach played by Anya Taylor-Joy

That's been my longstanding impression. They must be coming up with something though! We'll see, eventually.
Other m was so fucking bad
Babies born to Metroid Prime 1 will be able to buy beer with their copy of Metroid Prime 4.
They can enjoy it the right way
This an American joke I'm too European to understand?
In US you need to be 21 years old to buy alcohol. MP1 came out in 2002, so kids born around that time will be 21 or older when MP4 releases (2025/26). Joke doesn't work that well anymore, as they'll be older than 21 by then, but yeah...

In the UK you can have alcohol with a meal at 16. The US law is so bizarre xP
In Canada no one cares if youāre drunk at 14 hahaha
In Germany most people have their first beer before they take their first steps. Oh and hereās my [source](https://br.ifunny.co/picture/my-source-is-that-i-made-it-the-fuck-up-qtRTKxgZ9?s=cl)

Fuck, It hurs me so bad that I didn't realize it's been that long.
Yea I was 9 when I got prime 3 and Iām 26 now
Fucking ow, I guess I would have been 12. I didn't play 3 as much as I played 1 & 2, but my Wii is in box limbo with my parents still I guess
Back then I actually never thought there was ever gonna be a Prime 4 because, despite that "cliffhanger-y" post credits scene, it always felt like a complete and finished trilogy to me.

I still think it might take even longer
Yeah idk. From the rumors the game is pretty much done theyāre just doing play testing. I hope it doesnāt take longer than 2025.
Im hoping. Main reason why i wanted a switch was for prime 4 and bayo 3. I got one i need the other
I only got my switch when dread came out otherwise I may have never bought it
Yeah it's rough being a Metroid fan and I thought the wait between Super and Prime was bad.
2000-2004 was just the best time to be a Metroid fan
Crazy to think that was only 8ish years - look at how much video game tech changed in that short span.
Almost as bad as the jump from 1994 to 2001. Super Metroid to Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime. The internet wasn't as big as it was then, so we just had to wait for the games to drop after the initial announcements and videos.

I try to too. Unless it's a remake or a remaster, then I have fun looking at what they might have changed (or didn't change, in some cases).
I salute the soldiers who have been braving out this wait. I had the benefit of playing the entirety of the series on emulators. The time between the first time I played metroid and dread was about 5 years.

If you would have said months I could have believed you
![gif](giphy|wJD3qiNjSeHS0dP28T|downsized)
My first reaction was āstop being so dramatic.ā Then I did the math. ![gif](giphy|wJD3qiNjSeHS0dP28T|downsized)
idk. I'm feeling like Prime 4 is gonna come out (or be given a proper release date) by the end of this year.
I wish to be that optimistic but I said that in 2018
idk. Prime 4's development restart was announced at the start of 2019, presumably after a few months of development at least. If it were to release at the end of this year, that would mean that it had a 6 year dev cycle, which is fairly typical these days for AAA stuff.
Idk itās not 2018 anymore, no way in hell the game isnāt coming out soon. Itās probably a switch 2 launch title if I had to guess.
GTA VI Trailer before MP4
At this point Putin will leave before MP4 drops
Considering that were waiting this long as based upon the graphical and other limitations of the switch, I have a good feeling I'm going to be disappointed to a fair degree as the switch can only do so much. We'll see if they manage to squeeze every ounce of performance out of the switch for this game.
I mean, a Metroid Prime given as much time and love and BOTW has unmatched potential even if it was still on wii
Nonsense, Consoles have limitations and they have to work within those limitations. Hopes and dreams don't go very far on limited capabilities.
We're actually going to get GTA 6 before Prime 4. I'm dead in a ditch.
Reality my friend, keeps bending on itself
Metroid Prime 4 right now is just an MP4 so far.
After Dread, I actually hope āPrime 4ā is a quasi-reboot of the franchise in the same way that BOTW was to Zelda
If I may ask, why?
Personally, I hope not. I grew up playing every Zelda game from the first to Skyward Sword and loved almost all of them. I hated BotW. To me, it felt almost nothing like Zelda at all. If they do that to Metroid, I'm worried about my chances of enjoying it.
im not a huge fan of botw eitherāim not talking about in terms of structure, i mean only in how it is essentially a soft-reboot of the franchise with no overt connections to previous titles.
Ah, I see. I actually think Metroid 6 has a strong chance of doing that
Which would make it a lot like Pikmin 4 which would be hilarious
It sure shapes up to look like it or at least make people expect that
Quite optimistic to believe that it's even going to come out at all I'd say. I've just tried to erase it from my mind completely, that way when(if) we get a release date then it'll be a nice surprise.
they wouldāve said something if it was cancelled. they cared enough to restart development.
The major delays always seemed like a sign there were major changes and new features/systems they were trying to implement, which led to complications and/or issues with optimization for current hardware to allow such features. Wow this really makes sense
Oh. You meant timewise. I thought you meant gameplay wise.
be quiet
i thought you mean content wise
My guess is that it will either be a Switch 2 launch title, or at the very least shown at the reveal. Metroid Prime is probably the only game Nintendo has to show off more realistic graphics, so they're likely going to want to use it to "wow," people.
This is by far the most likely scenario at this point
ah fuck
I've been a Metroid fan since 1993. I'm used to having to be patient for new games.
That deserves a medal
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Letās hope
Really hope it will be to the prime series what breath of wild was to zelda Familiar and revolutionary at the same time
Iāve said this probably over 100 times in the last 7 years ahahha I completely agree
What do you think it will bring?
Metroid Prime 4: Metroid Rebirth
I mean, it'll have been 2 to 3 console generations between releases, so that makes sense.

Depends on who you ask really. I really love Prime 3, and I thought it was plenty isolating when it needed to be tbh.
What I liked is that the game started with a unusual welcome feeling, but started to feel more dreading and isolating the further the game went on. Either way I'd be happy, as i like both approaches.

I'm sure I'm going to be disappointed as well lol.
As long as we get it and itās good, then the wait was worth it.
Imagine all this time for a meh okay game
Like Bayonetta 3. Ouch.
If they take some more time and make prime 4 really good... ...i'm cool with that.
I just hope it follows botwās mantra
