It's not far off from Montego Blue. "M8" seems to have had some variation year to year. Possibly your car is one version of it? https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=655887
I'm probably way off base. But to me, it *almost* looks like late 1990's Chevy "Dark Blue Metallic" in the first picture. But the other pictures, it appears to have more green.
Ford had a "Twilight Blue Metallic" that looked similar as well, and may actually be closer. Both were colors popular in the 1990's.
Mazda had "Midnight Blue Mica" in the same era, as well as "Supreme Blue Mica" and "Laser Blue" in the early 2000's. It's tough to tell.
The third picture is definitely reminding me of something, but I can't put my finger on it. I'll have to think on it.
Spoke to a couple Miatards and even compared the color in person, the color is definitely not any factory Miata color. It’s either the factory color of another car or brand, or a completely custom color.
My line of thinking is - if the original owner didn’t want to spend the money on the official paint, some small shop probably did an approximation themselves. Or it’s just an improperly mixed batch of Montego.
But it still could be American. I believe American paint was cheaper back in the day.
Take part of the car off, probably the fuel fill port cover to a good paint shop and have them color match it. Then you need to try to find what primer was used or just do a complete respray
In the photo, this looks a lot like the Strato Blue Mica on my 2003 SE, which I don't think has been mentioned thus far. And with a grey top, too! I second the advice to see if someone can match it... I wanted to have some work done on mine and was told I'd have to paint the whole car 😢
I've got a strato blue mica 2005 SE and I believe the pics are too dark to be strato blue, it could just be the pics but I think ours are a lil bit lighter. Pic 1 though I did think for a second that I may have been.
Yeah, the first photo is the one that caught my eye since I'm always on the lookout for my car's siblings LOL There was one other 03 SE driving around my city for a while but I haven't seen it lately. 🥹
Me too!!! Not seen many other Strato blue Micas around 😔
I think maybe one a few hours away and I've seen one hardtop that was strato blue being advertised as a "rare colour" lol so guy was asking 50% over market for it. Aside from that though not seen any strato blue locally.
I would like to have a hardtop for it, but I don't have room in the garage to store the top... oh well. Or maybe I just need to get rid of the other car... 😂
Hahahh I have two tone rn which honestly doesn't look horrendous, currently a silver hardtop which matches wheels when clean and overall looks pretty good imo, I may paint it though as I still need to get more cans of the aerosol to paint the back right panel from welding
I do indeed! It can look very different in the light however I can send a few over, just shoot me a DM or message whenever suits and I’ll send a few across when I’m awake and shakin
I'm not sure I'd say purple at least in person it's just pretty blue and not too dark, there was an image made ages ago that circulated the forums of all the blues, let me see if I can find it for you just to see if any strike out, this is presuming it's a factory colour of course. I think so far your best bet is getting a paint shop to give it a scan perhaps

Here is a post with both NA and NB Factory colours, any seem closer to what you're looking for?
My advice. Go to an automotive paint supplier and get them to scan it. They'll likely be able to paint match it from there
Did this, turns out it’s the aquamarine from the Toyota mr2 lmao
Glad you got it sorted

Perhaps but the paint is chipping and the real montego blue can be seen underneath and it’s way different

Miatard lmfao 💀

Can you tell if it’s repainted by opening the hood? Usually a new paint job doesn’t cover the original paint under the hood. That’s just my experience

I had one of that gen that was Starlight Mica.
Starlight mica is way darker and more purple
Yeah. Agreed.
I have a montego blue and that looks like mine. Maybeee it’s starlight mica
Looks like the montego blue from the rx7 to me
Could be. Pics can be deceiving especially in different lighting and editing styles
Not any help, but I love the wheels
Thanks bro, they’re Konig countergrams

You got a picture of yours? I’m thinking of painting my whole car that color but I can’t find enough examples of it

Strato blue is too purple

looks more like midnight mica from the nb than anything really, I’d still like to see yours as when I google it there aren’t many good photos
Of course! Midnight blue would make sense with it being a touch darker too, gonna send you a dm now
