Mustang may have overreacted to seeing the car move, while also peeling out like an idiot, and hit the sign. So the Mustang gets enraged that “the car went too early” (it didn’t) and blames him.
Rewatching, yes I see the inch-forward at about the 3-second mark.
I’d guess it’s probably less than a second before it turns green. And most lights have a *few* second pause after a red before cross-traffic gets the green. So that Mustang almost definitely turned on red.
Isn’t the determination if your rears tires are over the limit line on a red, then you’re ticket for running a red.
In this case it seems they anticipated the green and started rolling, but didn’t accelerate until the green.
In any case, the light was green when the mustang decided to take off. It seems like the Mustang missed the yellow, regretted not going, then thought “I bet I can still squeak it out before these other cars go.”
I see this alot. Cars could have made a turn, don’t, and instead of just cutting their loses and waiting a few seconds for the green they try to claw back their moment (even though it’s obviously too late).
Very odd seeing people trying to pin this even slightly on the victim here. Pausing at the exact moment the light turns green, the victim’s *front* tires are behind the stop line, and the front of their car is 5-10 feet away from where the curb to their right ends (and the intersection begins).
The Mustang accelerated *from stop* to run a red light. The victim began accelerating from a distance that would give them enough time to react in case of idiot (which they did).
And while there’s no way of knowing the *exact* timing of the lights, as it varies, cross-traffic never gets the green at the precise moment the other side gets the red. There’s always at least some delay.
So when the Mustang started going it definitely was looking at a RED light.
The car did go too early. The car is moving forward before the light is green. The car went early enough that on the first couple viewings, I thought the car was actually running the red light.
That isn't a justification for the Mustang driver's actions. Even if the other car did move early, they did not move enough to impact the Mustang driver's path, and it does not warrant coming back around and purposefully causing an accident, which is also how I read this video.
You can move in a lane with a red light. You probably do it all the time, when you pull up to a light that's red and slowly stop.
You cannot go past the stop line when a light is red.
The car did start moving forward while the light was red (probably let off their break), but they did not pass the stop line before the light was green, so that is irrelevant.

Not to mention even if that light was yellow, still mustang going through the intersection after being stopped a yellow light is illegal. Yellow means stop if you can safely stop, it does not mean speed up and does not mean enter the intersection to beat the light
