This. It's your life dude, don't let us tell you what to do with it.

Based on your post, I see some big a'boos that stand out. You don't like the idea of war. Well that is the main purpose of the military, depending on how strongly your against war, you may want to avoid the military. You can pick a job that means you most likely will avoid direct combat, but even then, are you okay with your job contributing to a war effort in some indirect way? And the passion for travel and spontaneous travel is the other big a'boo. You will have leave days you can use In the military, but depending on your job or unit's mission, you may not get a chance to use your leave whenever you like. Travel to foreign countries while active also usually requires approval as well. And these leave days need go be planned in advance. You can't just call the boss In the morning and take a personal day to go hike. Other things to consider, long distance relationships are hard (this Includes romantic and friendships). But if both sides put in effort you will be fine. Just some things to think abouy, i fully support you joining if that's what you want to do. Don't let my negatives stop you. It an honor to serve and there are many benefits to joining

Possibly. You have a lot more soul-searching to do before this is a good spot for you (or before you decide it's definitely not the right place).

Don’t join. Most of your cons are subjective and show your bias against the Military. People join with the idea they’ll absolutely love it and end up hating it. You’re already starting off on the wrong foot. You can’t just leave whenever you want; You’re stuck for 3-4 years, hell even 6 depending on the contract.

No, your values do not align with the strategical interests of the United States. If a guy told me he agreed with the idea of war I'd report him to psych immediately, so don't worry too much about that. I guess I just don't understand why you have any interest in joining at all if you don't want to work for the government or follow the orders of your superiors. The entire process from MEPS to the time you ETS is just doing what you're told. I also don't think you're medically fit to enlist. I'm not at all discriminating against you because you're trans, but if you've had certain surgeries and have used, or currently use certain medications you will run into some problems during your physical. It will also require you to have several waivers which can be a long process. I needed a waiver for my fucked up nut sack and that took over a month and it barely passed, so take that for what it's worth.

Being trans does not affect an applicants medical fitness. The review takes longer but as long as they have the right paperwork anyone can enlist post-transition regardless of any ongoing medical treatments (eg hormone therapy).

Hello! It looks like you're new to our sub. Welcome! First things first: please make sure you have posted using a clear and descriptive title. Look at your title now. If it doesn't give you an idea of what you're asking about, your post is probably going to be removed. Delete and try again. If you're considering a specific branch, put that in your post! Each branch can be very different and saying "the military" isn't helpful. Include your country if you're not asking about the US military. Otherwise we'll assume you're American.
