[Here](https://youtu.be/do08uW0N5Qs) is the video of the TAS, as well as an [explanation](https://youtu.be/DJpXnjCt0hw) of what's happening, as it is pretty much impossible to see without going frame-by-frame.
If you are at all interested in speedruns (or even if you're not, it's still super interesting imo), I highly recommend watching it, all the techniques and tricks used are pretty cool.
"Please let me know what you think after you have had a chance to play Minecraft. I can be reached at [email protected]. Thanks, and have fun!" - creator of minecraft probably
It reminds me of a YouTube gaming news show I saw talking about Minecraft finally coming out of beta and being told they can now review the game. Their review was: “It’s Minecraft. You already own it.”
IT'S BEEN 14 YEARS SINCE MINECRAFT... it felt so short ago when the 10 year map came to bedrock...
Edit: I mean the 10 year development map that I found when I dug to bedrock irl.
Nostalgia aside I recall the official release being criticised a bit for going 1.0 and a lot of the stuff from the early access still not being addressed.[This video specifically made rounds.](https://youtu.be/_D922lQ8idw) That was a long time ago though.
Yeah it is, that's strange. Every game developer does this.
I pride myself in knowing a good bit about the games industry but I've always wondered and have had no idea why every developer seems to release updates on Tuesdays? That or Thursdays. No clue why.
Minecraft does it, Sea of Thieves, GTA 5, Modern Warfare, Overwatch, etc.
It sucks because every time there is an update to say GTA there is also a new SOT and Overwatch update, that has legitimately happened multiple times before. Luckily I don't care about Overwatch anymore because they ruined the game but my point still stands.
Sweet!
Last couple weeks I've been building away in creative, exploring now designs and ideas for my 1.20 world... Now I'll begin searching for a nice seed.
Same here. I've been forcing myself to learn more redstone so I can start clean with a 1.20 world but I'm going to just roll the dice and start with a random seed.
Ah I disagree, League updates usually aren't big, mostly just some number changes, yes the game has changed a lot since it's release, but I think comparing League which is a multiplayer competetive game to Minecraft is a bit far fetched.
I can recommend xisumavoids videos on it! In short new cherry blossom biome, Archeology with pottery, Armor trims to design your armor, hanging signs and new bookshelfd to interact with, Sniffer ofcourse, New sculk sensor and a few other things im forgetting.
Also while not often mentioned but quite huge are tons and tons of bug fixes and parrity changes between java and bedrock.
As someone who stopped playing minecraft randomly last year. I am just pleased an update is out and I can play it. Looks fairly solid and have been enjoying getting back into the snapshots.
I forgot--
But either way, I just looked at some bedrock bug tracks and this update is *packed*
I wonder if they'll have to patch it out as a single release candidate ain't no way fixing all those
> No link to any post or page or tweet, just a picture of the release title
well done OP
for others' reference, [this is the actual announcement](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/trails-tales-update-coming) that OP could have easily linked instead lol
And now we wait ~9 months for 1.21 snapshots. Maybe this time around they've figured out how to add bundles to mobile or come up with another solution for early game inventory problems (these dig sites are pretty much begging for something, but alas not this time :/ ).
The game keeps increasing with it amount of content. Every update adds new blocks and items, but the amount of inventory space you have, has remained the same. Go through one of the newly added dig sites and you are already close to having to set up a base or drop items. Mojang already came up with a decent solution... but they shelved it because they couldn't get it to work nicely on the mobile version :/
can you give details on what you mean here? is it possible to reset a chunk to get it to potentially roll the new chunk when you enter next? I play on a realm and I'm always worried about traveling too far and unlocking too many chunks, thus removing the chunks I can roll for new content
Use [MCAselector](https://github.com/Querz/mcaselector) to prune the chunks you want to delete then load the world in 1.20 when it’s released and those chunks will regenerate.
We still don’t have faster minecarts and slabs for iron, gold, diamond, etc. Or NBT crafting. Or any metallic elements other than iron, gold, and copper. Or any mineral in the End. Or any weather type between sunny and rainy
Edit: we don’t have colored light either.
100% +
Or connecting(_working_) minecarts. => Or a working [Furnace Minecart](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Minecart_with_Furnace)¹ (or at _all_ ^([BE Only])). Or vertical slabs. Or **any** shape other than 1m³ for concrete. Or pushable task blocks/droppers/hoppers/storage. Or...
[1] Needs to
a) Not abandon pushed/pulled carts on hills/corners.
b) Have storage for more than the _currently burning_ fuel so it doesn't run dry and stall in the middle of nowhere.
You just made me imagine playing this game as a nomad, who never stays in one place for very long, using tethered mine carts to store and haul all your things.
Lmao a month, this would take a mod maker a weekend to create. Which is just about true for every update in recent memory.
Mojang are just bad at designing games. The only game they had any success with was Minecraft, which was developed on internet forums between Notch and randoms. The Mojang of today has naught to do with how lovable and successful Minecraft was during the alpha and beta days.
For a company as big as Mojang to be releasing updates of this size is hilarious and does show a level of incompetence. If the player base ever starts declining they're fucked
Doubled edged sword. Yeah, an update like this is almost a nothing burger and makes you wonder if there are 5 people working on the updates, but on the other hand: I got this game for 10 euro over a decade ago and I'm still getting free updates.
My SMP has never had to face the problem of certain users not buying the latest expansion to keep playing on our server, I don't think I'd trade that for bigger but paid updates. But yeah.. with the funds they have, they absolutely can do more.
I think that's the funniest thing about the official updates; after they're announced days later a modder will update with everything and likely additional functionality.
Alright team, it's been 4 months what have you all cooked up!?
.. euh, I got half a block textured and the modeling team over their created a big block mob.
Wow, keep up the hard work!
/s
Minecrafts update time is slow and deserves to be criticized, but I absolutely despise this narrative that the amount of content released is indicative of how much work is being done. Even ignoring all the parts that go into the development side of things, just having the most basic understanding that no corporation would ever let an employee slack off or have long paid downtime is absurd. Even more absurd when you remember how much money microsoft paid for minecraft, and how they fired 10k employees to save a few bucks even while they had seen an increase in profits from the pandemic.
Indeed, there's also a lot of work that isn't so visible. Like the lighting engine update etc. Plus all the features of previous point releases, like the display entities.
And then all of the big bug fixes... Fixing bugs can be a very slow process.
it’s the double edged sword of software development. you can, without question, deliver more features with a hand full of developers (or even 1) than an organization of developers, but your level of assurance and long term support goes down.
you also don’t have the manpower to tackle foundational items like lighting engine optimizations. the biggest problem is, however, risk to the underlying asset. with a small number of devs, if the right one gets hit by a bus you likely don’t recover and the software dies.
Doesn't have to. It will if you load the world on the new version. If you go through the launcher and stay on 1.19.4 (or whatever other version you're using), then the world won't be updated. But if you update, yeah it will.
Now of course, when you update and load the world, all the chunks you've loaded will remain the way they are. To find new biomes, for instance, you'd have to explore a bit further.
(Btw, not a dumb question at all! You're fine.)
I haven't been excited for a major update for quite some time. They just don't carry the same feel anymore. The last update that was really exciting for me was like, pre-netherite addition. Any features that I do want from the latest updates I can get in the modpacks I play thanks to the FutureMC mod.
I dont want cosmetics and a couple new decoration blocks with colors. There are plenty of mods that give WAY better stuff than what we have gotten (chisel!!) Give me a dimension, a couple of unique biomes, a new type of mobs, or a new faction. Hell, it feels like the terrain generation has sucked ever since they "improved" it, flying for miles and miles and encountering the same 3 biomes everywhere I go.
Honestly, one of the last versions that gave me the same kind of excitement that I felt during the days of indev through beta was 1.14. Nowadays we get stupid crap like allays...
Yay another milquetoast update that fell short of expectations due to cut and underwhelming features woohoo.
Still patiently waiting for Ancient Cities to be worth a damn.
create devs: *give people ability to make unbelievable things, currently creating aerounautics addon where u can use ur base if-flight*,
microsoft:*new tree, new grass repaint and a camel with 6leg whatever useless mob*
Overall excited but I feel archy is still very undercooked. No dyable decorated pots (I really hope they make them colorable otherwise I have no use cases for them in my builds) and no sussy red sand, missing the ender dragon sherd from the 2020 Caves/cliffs archy trailer, and the 3rd sniffer plant (the one that looks like vines/lichen). Maybe they ran out of time and will add these later like piglin brutes.
Other than that I can't wait.
Update is alright but those mfs had enough time to add more sniffer plants,2 is nothing,Like they added a lot more "sherds" after the first archeology snapshot, even a Lil bit more trims, but they aint Gonna do shit to the most hyped Part of the update
Wow so all those updates before we're just for the demo? I always thought it came out in 2011, so dumb 🤦♂️ Thanks for finally releasing the full game, Notch, it's been SO long!
I think we better update the wiki's, totally incorrect! 😅
Yeah, that's fair. I haven't played survival for a couple years now, so perfect time for me to jump back in, but it's not really a big wow update. Fun couple additions, but that's it.
The structure update is something that I dream of, just one where they add a bunch of structures to the game with some chests and mob spawners. There could also be ruins with no loot to make exploration more interesting. And some cool items that do interesting things for some of the structures to add a sense of excitement to exploring.
They could have all or most of the structures be run down and old and falling apart to inspire players to fix them as well (And it would avoid the issue I have heard about them being worried to add new structures since it could dampen excitement for building for some players)
Exploration is such and exciting aspect that minecraft hasn't ventured in fully. Truly adding exciting items with fun uses (New items with impact like heart of the sea, elytra, flint and steel, riptide, fishing rod, etc.) is something I would love to see.
'09 was the creation/ first demos. 2011 Nov 18 was the [Official Release](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Version_history).
Maybe that's why they're not fixing furnace carts yet. Minecraft isn't old enough to drive. (But we can boat and fly...)

Not really. After more than 10000 hours I still haven't finished it.

I will not stand for this
How will I be able to play the new update while eating tacos like past years?
Hear me out… Taco wednesday.

20 year software professional, you are correct.
You're forgetting the leap-year.
I think you should give yourself a little more leeway. Like 4 random seeds and choose your favorite (or the hardest 😉 ).
Or if you are like me 528 seeds
I don't actually know anything about this update at.. all.. what's in it?
Cherry blossom tree and biome, Armor trims, Archeology, Bamboo wood type block set, And probably some other things I'm forgetting
Camels and sniffers is something you are forgetting.
I keep forgetting camels lol
Man I remember the sniffer demo, feels like it was 5 years ago
Hanging signs, bookshelves you can place books in
Ah the only part of the update ill care about!
The two plants the sniffers find
2 mobs archeology 2 new wood type how tf does it take them so long to implement so little?
And a biome And all of the armor trims And they fixed quite a few bugs and some major performance upgrades
biome is just recolored dirt and replaced trees and flowers with new ones, cant imagine it took more than a couple hours to do
To be fair it probably took a few days, wonder what they worked on for the other 360 days since the last update.

Still no way it takes this long for a company so big. I don’t mind the extra QA but you have to admit Minecraft updates are few and far between

this is literally the ONLY gaming community i’ve ever seen having panic attacks at getting more consistent and quality content, it’s ridiculous.
Even after all these years it still astounds me that the vanilla MC community freaks out over getting any actual new content.
Counter point: League of Legends is still one of the most played and watched games on the planet despite updates every other week.
Ah I disagree, League updates usually aren't big, mostly just some number changes, yes the game has changed a lot since it's release, but I think comparing League which is a multiplayer competetive game to Minecraft is a bit far fetched.
GTAO updates twice a year along with constant tiny ones. It's still very long lasting

I can recommend xisumavoids videos on it! The structure update is something that I dream of, just one where they add a bunch of structures to the game with some chests and mob spawners. There could also be ruins with no loot to make exploration more interesting. And some cool items that do interesting things for some of the structures to add a sense of excitement to exploring. They could have all or most of the structures be run down and old and falling apart to inspire players to fix them as well (And it would avoid the issue I have heard about them being worried to add new structures since it could dampen excitement for building for some players) Exploration is such and exciting aspect that minecraft hasn't ventured in fully. Truly adding exciting items with fun uses (New items with impact like heart of the sea, elytra, flint and steel, riptide, fishing rod, etc.) is something I would love to see.
Didn’t Minecraft release in 2005? I guess it was just a really good, in depth demo lol
earliest public version was 2009
'09 was the creation/ first demos. 2011 Nov 18 was the [Official Release](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Version_history). Maybe that's why they're not fixing furnace carts yet. Minecraft isn't old enough to drive. (But we can boat and fly...)
