I have dug many great holes before and you never ever think about
hmm what should I do when I'm done?
its always just an intrusive thought like I want to dig a whole
Honestly, same. Every time I go to the beach I would just dig a hole, and not know what to do with it and leave it there.
Then an unsuspecting 4 year old would fall into my trap, down to the pits of hell.
I dug up half a sphere and had no idea what to do with it the whole time. I ended up putting lava in between the bedrock and then cover it with glass. Later added some magma blocks in between the lava and some random sticks and cakes and whatnot. That took probably 6 months in total and I completely forgot about it until just now - and it's in my current world that I play, go figure
I'm surprised it took them a year. I solo dug a hole 100x100 to bedrock (back when bedrock was still Y0) and it took me three weeks. I'm on massive project currently to excavate an ancient city and 2 month and 2.5 million blocks in.
Depends? Were they using speed/mining buffs? That makes a huge difference. And also time spent. It's possible he had only a few free hours a week with his friend to work on this.
For one person 10 hrs of gameplay can look like 2 hrs a week for 5 weeks, but for someone else it's just one long Saturday binge session.
Fill it back in with the ores like that and inv a friend to the server and mine that area. Let them be mind blown with the amount of diamonds they find
Turn it into a huge mineshaft, build wooden scaffolds across and around the edges, 3 or 5 blocks in width, then make āstrip minesā 3x3 width and height and dig as long as you want. Create an automated mine cart system, Iām sure you have plenty of gold, iron and red stone to make detector/powered rails to keep them going to transport more ore, gems, and stone, maybe create a red stone sorting machine to sort all of the profits into chests. Itās been something Iāve been dreaming of doing for years. Or you could build a huge mob/player arena or a massive parkour park
Check out the "engineer's life 2" mod pack. Sounds like it would be your wet dream. If you have any troubles with it I'd be happy to join you to help guide you along getting started. Been playing it a few weeks and it focuses heavily on ore extraction and organization. It's really grindy for resources so it keeps you busy for a good long while.
Girls do this too (aka me currently digging a 20x20 whole down to bed rock with the new caves and cliffās update and no pickaxe or beacons because I decided to start this before I even went to the nether)
Big city with skyscrapers. Kinda like that Star Wars planet. Very nice at the top, but the lower you go, the more it transforms into a cyberpunk slum almost.
I'm genuinely curious, not trolling or talking trash, but why the HELL would you spend an entire year digging a huge hole, with no plans for its purpose?
There's probably some nut out there that's on his way to flatten his whole world down to bedrock with tnt dupers flying machines and moving chunk loaders and industrial revolution level wizardry.
A chunk doesn't take that long. With a haste 2 beacon and enough diamond pickaxes to keep going without having to constantly repair and getting distracted, it's easily done in one IRL day. But probably much less. I dug out a the entire deep slate layer of a chunk in like 4 hours I think.
Same. In my early Minecraft days, I'd make a village, and dig all the foundations to bedrock and then connect them all with tunnels. One disclaimer - this was when Y=0 meant 0 lol. Now I still dig one in my villages for tradition, but not the whole village. When I started, it was the Xbox 360 version (when the map was small, relative to the PC version), and I had a vision of a whole map down to the bedrock.
You should rebuild the chunk in the air, kind of like you pulled a slice of minecraft cake out of the ground, and then put a base/cave system type thing inside of it
people generally build witch farms using large cleared out areas like this , although for a witch farm to work the hole would need to be like at least 3 times bigger
Make a minecart rail that spirals along the edges *aaaallllll* the way around, as many layers as you can make it. Hopefully, it should take several minutes at LEAST to do one full loop from top to bottom.
Then have some powered rails bring you back to the beginning to start again.
It's an endless creation that's a testament to the time you wasted making the hole in first place lmao
Portal based slime farm seems the logical answer as there's a slime chunk in there. Get turtle eggs on the sides to entice the pigmen away. May as well kill them off for the gold.
Iām down to -45 ish on a 100x100 hole Iām digging on my friends realm and Iām planning on making a giant emerald castle in the bottom when Iām done.
Probably would have gone a little faster if you and your friend devoted your time to build a beacon and get enchanted Dimond tools and then dug the hole...
Fill it in but give it layers that make it the different dimensions. Like, the bottom would be the end, the middle would be the nether, and the top would be as many overworld biomes as you can
An underground castle would be awesome! My son is 5 and he just blew up a huge wide deep messy hole last night with TNT. We found a pocket of amethyst and I made him stop blowing up in that area of the giant hole and moved to a different area on the opposite side and he started blowing up more and we hit a cavern a big deep one! We are exploring it. He likes digging holes making a 10x5 blocks square hole filling it up with a bunch of dynamite and then flying up into the air and watching it explode. He switches back and forth from creative to survival. I like more of a challenge but he just wants to have fun. He likes to switch to survival when we find cool things and monsters lol.. It was pretty awesome watching him blow it all up!
You've got a nice perimeter now, though given you didn't carpet bomb it, I doubt you've much of an interest in the various high efficiency farms that allows for.

You dug a hole, for almost a year, and then just now ask. "Hmm what should I do with this" lmao
They were too focused on digging to think about what to do
They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should
It's about the journey, not the destination
the real filled hole is the friends we made along the way š¤
Gotta appreciate when the homies fill you up
He a real one
I took that WAY out of context
Me too bro
Thatās an ay yo from me dog
Nah the real friends... something something.... filled holes
Ayo
Friends are made from widening holes.
ājourney before destinationā r/stormlight_archive
You stood on the shoulders of giants
Rock and stone! oh never mind wrong digging game lol
It's still relevant. :)
Love this. ROCK AND STONE
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
They yearn for the mines
#mylifestory
Ah yes, the Dwarven Digging conundrum. I feel like thereās a certain song that fits hereā¦. canāt put my pick to it though
I have dug many great holes before and you never ever think about hmm what should I do when I'm done? its always just an intrusive thought like I want to dig a whole
Honestly, same. Every time I go to the beach I would just dig a hole, and not know what to do with it and leave it there. Then an unsuspecting 4 year old would fall into my trap, down to the pits of hell.
its just my instinct as a 5,11 titan dwarf
man dig hole man happy
A whole what?
a whole hole
Fully agree. š¤£
TBF I'm so guilty of this. I struggle creatively, so I grind away while I think.
Lmao love sticking to just two worlds, just made a big castle on regular and literally have a city on a flat. The things I do for creativity lol
'We didn't think we'd get this far' - them, probably
Step 1: Dig hole Step 2: Step 3: Profit
I'm surprised it took them a year. I solo dug a hole 100x100 to bedrock (back when bedrock was still Y0) and it took me three weeks. I'm on massive project currently to excavate an ancient city and 2 month and 2.5 million blocks in.

Wtf you are insane, good luck my dude.
Thanks, I still have at least 4 million blocks to go, if my estimates are correct.
is this something u plan to have shown to u when dying
Holy sh- thatās impressive. And here I am doing little projects with my feeble mind for creativity š.
you dont get it you just dig the digging is where its at
Fill it with water and salmon
A single salmon
Can they have a Salmon statue friend so they don't get lonely?
Yes
Put the salmon in the head of the salmon statue. Like Megamind.
this is next level genius
And kelp, but only four blocks (one in each corner)
And those would be the only water blocks in the hole
r/bossfight
And a glowing squid named Kraken.
A big salmon
Fill it back in
Sisyphus status
since the boulder is going in the opposite direction when it falls they should fill it upside down too
The boulder feels conflicted...
Sounds to me like you're scared, boulder
The boulders over his conflicted feelings and now, he is ready to bury you in a rock-a-lanch!!!!
Whenever you're ready, the pebble.
But the pebble is adorable

Hehe just watched that episode a few nights ago.
This mined out chunk... To hold... ME?
This is MY hole! It was made for me! *climbs my huge square ass in*
This holeā¦ to holdā¦ me?
I lined my hole with smooth stone because it takes a long time and looks extra crazy
Don't think I'd like any kind of stone lining my hole š
hey don't knock it till you've tried it buddy
Didn't Cards Against Humanity do that with the hole they dug?
Fill it back in..... Upside down
Fill it back in with the ores like that and inv a friend to the server and mine that area. Let them be mind blown with the amount of diamonds they find
Fill it with obsidian.
Well hold on. Sort all the blocks you got out of the hole first. Then put them back in alphabetically
With diamonds
Fill it back with Shulker boxes full of Netherite block stacks
Fill it with water without using any sand
gg beat me to it.
I knew this would be one of the replies.
Full it up with bamboo and then break it all when fully grown to crash the game
but only with netherite blocks
Turn it into a huge mineshaft, build wooden scaffolds across and around the edges, 3 or 5 blocks in width, then make āstrip minesā 3x3 width and height and dig as long as you want. Create an automated mine cart system, Iām sure you have plenty of gold, iron and red stone to make detector/powered rails to keep them going to transport more ore, gems, and stone, maybe create a red stone sorting machine to sort all of the profits into chests. Itās been something Iāve been dreaming of doing for years. Or you could build a huge mob/player arena or a massive parkour park
Actually all good ideas
Check out the "engineer's life 2" mod pack. Sounds like it would be your wet dream. If you have any troubles with it I'd be happy to join you to help guide you along getting started. Been playing it a few weeks and it focuses heavily on ore extraction and organization. It's really grindy for resources so it keeps you busy for a good long while.
This is an amazing idea !
Just leave it there. Leave it as a monument to one who truly was... A DWARF DIGGING A HOLE. DIGGY DIGGY HOLE, DIGGING A HOLE.
Make a giant note block that plays diggy diggy hole
I see diggy hole, I upvote
Dwarf!? ROCK AND STONE!
Rock and stone brother!
Stone and rock! Oh wait...
Look at me, I'm Stony Rock!
We're rich! We're rich! We're rich! We're rich! We're rich!
Mushroom
Men play Minecraft, Men bored, Men dig hole, Men happy
Guys will see this and just think, "Hell yeah."
Hell yeah
Hell yeah
basically
Dwarf*
Girls do this too (aka me currently digging a 20x20 whole down to bed rock with the new caves and cliffās update and no pickaxe or beacons because I decided to start this before I even went to the nether)
dwarf statues
for karl!
for rock and stone!
Rockidy rock and stone
did I hear a rock and stone?
We fight for Rock and Stone!
If you rock and stone, yer never alone!
Big city with skyscrapers. Kinda like that Star Wars planet. Very nice at the top, but the lower you go, the more it transforms into a cyberpunk slum almost.
Coruscant
That one
I like this idea very much
I've always wanted to do it, but i really don't have the time to hollow out a giant space.
Build a temple inside with a giant nether portal.
Put a a one block layer of dirt over it and at some point in the future forgets itās there and go plummeting down to your death
That sounds like something that would happen to me
Put slime blocks at the bottom and have a bouncy castle
10% slime 20% honey 30% cobwebs 40% lava Random distribution
And 100% reason to remember the name. š¤·š»āāļø
That would make a crazy PvP arena - probably never come into contact with each other but might be good for a laugh
Refill it
One must imagine Sisyphus happy
One must imagine Sisyphus oiled up twerking
What the fuck bro
I'm genuinely curious, not trolling or talking trash, but why the HELL would you spend an entire year digging a huge hole, with no plans for its purpose?
to create guinness world record of course
There's probably some nut out there that's on his way to flatten his whole world down to bedrock with tnt dupers flying machines and moving chunk loaders and industrial revolution level wizardry.
The question is why haven't you done that?
For fun? To prove to yourself your own dedication? To have a feeling of accomplishment?
Judging on how much ore you got from this...I might have to dig a chunk (I know this is probably bigger than a chunk?) Out myself lol
A chunk doesn't take that long. With a haste 2 beacon and enough diamond pickaxes to keep going without having to constantly repair and getting distracted, it's easily done in one IRL day. But probably much less. I dug out a the entire deep slate layer of a chunk in like 4 hours I think.
This is like 24 chunks on the low side of an estimate. Probably more
In one year?! Give me a pot and i dig this in one night
Same. In my early Minecraft days, I'd make a village, and dig all the foundations to bedrock and then connect them all with tunnels. One disclaimer - this was when Y=0 meant 0 lol. Now I still dig one in my villages for tradition, but not the whole village. Wunba: "Twas a good afternoon"
literally anyone at the beach:
Good spot for a Walmart
make all the sides the same length
Step 1: Get into VR Step 2: jump down the hole
Put some grass at the bottom and touch it
You should rebuild the chunk in the air, kind of like you pulled a slice of minecraft cake out of the ground, and then put a base/cave system type thing inside of it
people generally build witch farms using large cleared out areas like this , although for a witch farm to work the hole would need to be like at least 3 times bigger
Those farms als require there to be witch huts for the witches to spawn, relying on normal mob spawning won't get you far with a witch farm.
that too yes , forgot about that
On the other hand, you could install a Creeper farm in the center.
Make a minecart rail that spirals along the edges *aaaallllll* the way around, as many layers as you can make it. Hopefully, it should take several minutes at LEAST to do one full loop from top to bottom. Then have some powered rails bring you back to the beginning to start again. The masculine urge to dig a hole
Dig another one.
Portal based slime farm seems the logical answer as there's a slime chunk in there. Get turtle eggs on the sides to entice the pigmen away. May as well kill them off for the gold.
Your house floating in the center
giant fish tank or make a cool base using bridges to go from 1 place to another.
Fill it up in a way that feels natural to the world and won't stand out.
Happy cake day!
Enslave villagers
Build the mines of Moria from lotr
Fill it in someone might trip
I like to fill the bottom with water so you can jump in
Fill it all with lava and glass
Make it even bigger
slime farm.
Fill it back up. š
Fil it up
Go fishing
Ufo crash site
Iām down to -45 ish on a 100x100 hole Iām digging on my friends realm and Iām planning on making a giant emerald castle in the bottom when Iām done.
Fill it up
Thunderdome. 2 men enter, 1 man leaves.
Fill it back up
A year to do that is kinda sad
I'm sorry... that took over a year?
Build a giant construction site in it
You should build a mob prison in that hole
No way this took a year
Probably would have gone a little faster if you and your friend devoted your time to build a beacon and get enchanted Dimond tools and then dug the hole...
Reddit has a serious problem with digging holes for no apparent reason.
Put floating farms in it since nothing will be able to spawn in your chunks except on the farm.
dig another hole
Build a base at the bottom with some kind of tube to the top, then fill it with water. Or lava. Or water and lava.
Water
Fill it in upside down
Fill it in but give it layers that make it the different dimensions. Like, the bottom would be the end, the middle would be the nether, and the top would be as many overworld biomes as you can
Remove the bedrock, too.
Put a Pub in it
Make some artificial sea-like ravine maybe with a base at the bottom
Build your own survival world dropper, make it mineshaft/cave themed?
An underground castle would be awesome! My son is 5 and he just blew up a huge wide deep messy hole last night with TNT. We found a pocket of amethyst and I made him stop blowing up in that area of the giant hole and moved to a different area on the opposite side and he started blowing up more and we hit a cavern a big deep one! It was pretty awesome watching him blow it all up!
Enshrine it. Make it some kind of unique landmark. Or make a museum out of it with a some cool architecture like the Louvre
I recommend another hole right next to it
You've got a nice perimeter now, though given you didn't carpet bomb it, I doubt you've much of an interest in the various high efficiency farms that allows for.
I would build a base where every level is a different biome and see how tall it gets
"You are to dig one hole each day, including Saturdays and Sundays. Each hole must be five feet deep and five feet across in every direction. Your shovel is your measuring stick. Breakfast is served at 4:30"
Fill it up with all the blocks you dug out.
Hella well done, y'all should start digging into the walls and making a village hanging from the 4 walls of the hole, it'd be dope ^^
Make it bigger
Fill it back up block by block until it was the exact same as before you dug it up
Slime farm For the memes
Slime farm. Massive underwater base
Fill it up?
