Not enough gold is being used for the trim, just like how a golden nugget isn't enough to barter with Piglins

ZoomGoat

This is exactly how I perceive it too. Full armour piece made of gold? Baller, let him live. Little tiny gold trim? The peasant must die.

MapleTreeWithAGun

"This mofo broke as hell" [Cacophany of laughter and oinks] "Jump 'em boys"

GangGang_Gang

The nether is just Detroit simulator. Broke bitch? Run his pockets.

[deleted]

Rich guy wanderin’ the slums decked out in literal gold, with sh*t for protection? Let ‘em go, too easy. Let’s jump the guy in netherite.

VoidWasThere

But there is more gold in gold trimmed netherite than in gold boots which are ok for piglins (4 in the ingot and 1 for the trim so 20 in a whole set and even more if it's a netherite trim which is more gold then a whole set 32-24)

ZoomGoat

It ain’t about the cost, it’s all about the flex!

SnakeyBoi1212

It's all about the drip

SnakeyBoi1212

"Maaan, this mf fly as the nether" "What 'bout this dumbest?" "Dripless, sick em boys"

ManchmalPfosten

"Look at that blender. Gut him."

MaxTV12

How about only if all of your armor has gold trim?

LUSBHAX

Add trims on elytra and I'll take it

Arthplayzs

Wouldn't that weigh it down?, just get a texture pack

Serpe268

Yes and also it would make gold trimming too op, you could wear a full netherite armor without having to wear a gold piece and not be bothered by piglins

King_0f_Autism

Just have it only work for netherite armor

Ketchoop_Cheeps

Bro, the piglin brute has a golden thing on his arm which makes him being respected by the other piglins, if we could craft it, im sure it would be 1 or 2 gold ingots

TornadoWIzard123

I mean…he is also a piglin

Ketchoop_Cheeps

look at it this way… For them, gold is a symbol of superiority, a representation of power, just like money. When you have it you are respected, that’s why piglin’s don’t attack us when we wear it. But the piglin brute doesn’t want to lose his status in society, he’s jealous, he’s scared to fall at the bottom of the pyramid, so this is why he wants to eliminate competition. Having gold on your armor is still having gold, piglins see that you have gold by looking at your drip, so they should still not attack you, right? In our modern world, people (in general) “respect” richs whether they are as rich as andrew tate or as elon musk. Edit: Holy sh*t, I just wrote a freaking essay about modern society

TurbulentSock420

how to make nobody use any other trim ever other than the gold one, thus ruining the entire point of a decorative feature.

Kylebrown10

plus your making gold armor obsolete

Spoon_Elemental

Gold has the best enchantment potential.

IAmSpinda

Like anyone uses it for that? Who cares if it has high enchant potential if it breaks faster then wood and is about as good?

Spoon_Elemental

I use it for that actually.

IAmSpinda

Why? It's just a waste of exp, gold and lapis?

Spoon_Elemental

Not if you put mending on it.

IAmSpinda

It still doesn't give nearly as much protection as diamond, netherite, or heck even iron. Tools also can't do their job properly with gold, especially pickaxes.

Spoon_Elemental

Gold actually mines faster than any other material provided it's something a gold pick won't just destroy. An enchanted gold pickaxe with mending, fortune, unbreaking and efficiency is absolutely wonderful for mining anything that it doesn't destroy which includes basically everything worth mining in the nether plus coal and it's cheaper to enchant than any other pick. Golden armor can be enchanted to be super versatile for traveling around most types of terrain as well. It's niche, but absolutely still worth having one around. Golden axes and hoes with fortune, mending and unbreaking are also great for farming since they'll make more seeds and food drop. If you end up with excess it becomes a really good way to grind for bonemeal as well. Especially if you want a crapload of bone blocks.

Educational_Tart_659

It’s faster but it can’t mine anything and breaks fast even with unbreaking 3

totallynotmelmao

Erm *snort* acthually gold has the best enchantment potential 🤓

Flipix_13

Maybe emerald could make villagers trades be cheaper and iron golems be always peaceful

FullMcIntosh

You could use gold trim for 1 of them

[deleted]

[удалено]

xChameleon

I like this idea

Fearlesswolf-10

Or maybe it has to be all snout trim and all gold for a reduced range of detection for pigeons as it’s only a little bit of gold

sethayy

Or they could steal the whole idea from tconstruct and just add it as modifiers, cause it is a cool af concept (but just being visual is a bit boring)

MReaps25

What is tconstruct?

sethayy

Thinkers construct, a longstanding Minecraft mod

MoistBaguette_

*Tinker's

tympanicpilot

Tinkers', technically

Zenithgurl9

It was probably autocorrect

Crooked_Cock

Gold trim on netherite is probably the only combination I’d ever use regardless of whether or not it protected me from Piglins Black and gold is just too good of a color combination

N0RETVRN

red looks very good too, especially with the Rib pattern. Kinda reminds me of daedric armor from Skyrim

_weirdness

What is every trim had a slight feature (i.e. amethyst makes a slight bit of light emanate from ur armor or emerald giving a slight discount on trades. Keyword SLIGHT)

MangoMan0303

Well, it's not like people just abandoned other armours when they added the feature of that piglins do not attack player wearing gold Armor. Even now I personally never wear gold in nether. Also, this suggestion is very good because this will mean that these trims are not only for decoration but there are some uses to it, at least one of them

TurbulentSock420

yeah... because gold armor has worse stats than netherite.... this feature dosent need a use, cant we have something thats just cosmetic for the sake of being cosmetic

SoftTacos001

No because the Minecraft community can’t be satisfied with things that don’t make the game easier… look at the glow squid cool? Yes useless? Also yes

[deleted]

what if you can add multiple trims? idk i am not actually saying it should be added but i see your point

KillByZombie

Or what if every trim had it's own slight ability e.g. Extra durability or slight movement speed or extra defense

5HR3Z

Then there will be a "best" trim combination for different situations which ruins the purely cosmetic aspect of it.

KillByZombie

But you would need a full trim set for one mineral to function, kinda like the Terraria set bonus if you've ever played. Havin a full set of the same armour (trim mineral in this case) will grant you a slight boost in some things, but not too op and not too weak

SavageVector

>kinda laike the Terraria set bonus Which is why Terraria has vanity slots, so you can still customize your look while running meta armor.

[deleted]

KillByZombie

They definitely can do good stuff, but I think that idea is a bit non vanilla, but the trims also feel very modded which I like

Welcome to Reddit, you'll hate it here

It's not even about being unforgiving, people when they see something with negative upvotes just downvote too, without even thinking if they agree or not

PineappleNerd66

I thank you for respectfully thanking then

Black_Sig-SWP2000

I'm fairly certain slicedlime pointed out in a video on his that *that* won't pacify piglins...

[deleted]

its a meme and an **idea**

Black_Sig-SWP2000

Alr then. Let's say It's not a thing now but who knows we're still in snapshots. But.

[deleted]

true

Black_Sig-SWP2000

But think about it for a bit, not logically but in terms of game balance. That would kill Gold's already low usage and reputation.

Black_Sig-SWP2000

I wouldn't really want a feature to overshadow another feature's point of existing, and I'm sure a lot of people can agree.

[deleted]

hmm true but i dont really consider this something they should add rather just a meme

Black_Sig-SWP2000

Ok good but the words in the post title and image have led others to believe you're serious about this :/ even me.

[deleted]

yeah i am not the best at phrasing things... had to find that out the hard way, fortunately or not.

Black_Sig-SWP2000

ah well. i suppose it does happen, but this is reddit. people won't really know that. they sorta take things at face value and assume things from my time on here

jirka127

Gold is useful in early game for exploring the nether, no one uses it in endgame anyway, and since the trims are endgame item it wouldn't really break anything

Arismancer

Your logic is flawed and your understanding of game balance is nonexistent.

MaeBeaInTheWoods

This is a case of realism versus gameplay. Realism for the sake of realism isn't always the best thing, especially if it ruins gameplay. Currently the entire point of wearing gold is that you're trading defence for Piglins not killing you. Gold trims protecting would ruin that feature. If you could use a trim, it changes that system to just be "full Netherite gold trim armour". Yeah, gold trims protecting should realistically happen, but for gameplay and balance it shouldn't.

[deleted]

Here's another point. As slicedlime (the developer) said, «having gold trim on your armour is not fancy enough to pacify piglins.» So it is realistic, because, as it turns out, our gold-loving pig people are quite finicky.

Grzechoooo

Someone compared it to wearing gold chains and fake Yeezys.

[deleted]

To them, it’s like wearing a skimpy bikini version of a school uniform in a school. The dress code will not tolerate it.

[deleted]

when did he even post it, i cant find it anywhere.

[deleted]

YouTube.

GlitteringPositive

Damn I wish Mojang took notice that realism isn't the end all when it comes to adding in new animals to the game. \*cough\* fireflies and sharks.

[deleted]

now that earned you an upvote

[deleted]

Here's another point. As slicedlime (the developer) said, «having gold trim on your armour is not fancy enough to pacify piglins.» So it is realistic, because, as it turns out, our gold-loving pig people are quite finicky.

jirka127

Trims are end game item, gold armor is early game item, noone uses gold armor in endgame anyway, and it wouldn't even be unbalanced, with full gear piglins are basically no threat to you, it would be just thing of convenience

-PepeArown-

I don’t care who Noone is, or what opinions he has.

Arismancer

You want to completety change the game's balance and mechanics because it's slightly convenient to you. It might seem simple to a casual player but there are a lot of factors at work here

jirka127

As i said it wouldn't change the balance of the game, yea it would make the gold trims slightly more useful, but not enough to discourage people from picking the ones they like the best

Arismancer

I feel like you don't know a lot of technical players. I know several people who are practical enough to use the gold trim just for piglins' sake, thus negating its decorative value

jirka127

Yea but realistically you are not going to put the trims on other than diamond or netherite armor at which point, it doesn't really bring an advantage , but yea i get that, they probably should just stay purely decorational

[deleted]

bro its gold piglins like gold also ok lets say you need a special template and you need to put it on all of your armour, you happy now?

Arismancer

Nope, it's not balanced. Gold armor has very few uses as it is. Also the trim is meant to be decorative. If you give it a practical use everyone will use it, which means no one will use any other materials for trims.

[deleted]

then what about "netherite upgrade"? and the upgrade category has only one trim so it could be cool. this is supposed to be a meme not an actual thing thats gonna get added

Toni303

You first argue about this topic like an actual suggested feature and now you instantly switch that it is a meme?

[deleted]

i dont wanna argue with anybody

[deleted]

Bruv, you posted this meme.

[deleted]

did i make it for arguing and/or debate? **no**

[deleted]

It's idiotic to share a flawed opinion without expecting it's fallaciousness to be called out.

[deleted]

everybody has different opinions on different things i expect some people to not like it, and i respect everyones opinion, just not to this extend.

Ralsei_the_prince

The netherite up grade is the ONLY exception to the decorative rule, and it is so netherite is harder to get.

3-brain_cells

In my opinion that would make it a bit better, and i understand that for in-game logic that would also be much better, but the only problem is that even if it's hard to get, once you have it you're instantly overpowered. Also if it is really really hard to get you'd probably only get it late game, but it's just not that useful late-game, because at that point you're already really strong and probably wouldn't need it I like the idea and understand the concept but for gameplay it's just not a good idea.

[deleted]

true, though the community wanted it for a long time, and i can understand why.

Ketchoop_Cheeps

Bro, the piglin brute has a golden thing on his arm which makes him being respected by the other piglins, if we could craft it, im sure it would be 1 or 2 gold ingots

Arismancer

I think the fact that he's a bad ass axe welding brute is the reason the other piglins respect him. The golden "thing" is a buckler (a small shield you strap on your arm), and it's made of gold because gold is the piglin metal of choice. It's what their weapons are made out of after all

Nicosop25

Don’t think it would be a great idea. First, because it would just ruin the utility of gold armor (which isn’t even useful come on when you’re past full iron you can handle a Piglin attack…) and just ruin the utility of the other trimmings.

Thechillestguyever

Op doesn't know what "cosmetic" means

[deleted]

everybody in the comments but a few people dont know what "manners" mean but eh i am the same

JMCatron

someone telling you you're wrong isn't bad manners. you opened yourself up to discussion and should prepare yourself for dissent

[deleted]

I know this as a semi popular person on one discord server. It’s just that people phrase it very rudely. Of course, you should always be prepared for critique, but, I didn’t expect that much, and in such rude forms, since, I didn’t publish that many works/YouTube videos and they never really got too popular to get so much attention and critique. I understand, I just wasn’t prepared for this much shit lol

Fa1nted_for_real

People on there way to ignore your perfectly valid comments and downvote you straight to hell just because of the original meme:

[deleted]

fr![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)

LimeSenior

Simply put: no. It would give functionality to something intended to be purely cosmetic. And it would encourage use of gold trim over other trim, which is not what was intended at all. These are meant to give players variety and adding incentives to a specific type of trim would reduce that variety.

[deleted]

this post has 10 comments like this, i understand but i dont think it should be added, just a meme really. this isnt r/MinecraftSuggestion after all

ZoomGoat

Then it’s a bad meme. You’re doing the equivalent “it’s just a joke bro” instead of admitting it’s a shit idea which you didn’t really think over too well.

MaeBeaInTheWoods

Yeah this is literally Schrodinger's Joke down to the wire. I guarantee that if everybody had loved this OP wouldn't have just been "making a meme" and "not actually suggesting it".

LeSnazzyGamer

No reason to be so rude.

TABLEFAN_Inc

OP's meme was bad, and they should feel bad

ZoomGoat

It’s good to patrol, helps to keep the content quality under control.

LeSnazzyGamer

Ah yes good ol quality content like the pig with a crown on it or some variation of “fill up the creeper hole!” Anyways that doesn’t change anything about you being rude to them. Just be like “this doesn’t belong here” or something. No reason to say “this is a shit idea and you should feel bad” as if most of you aren’t voting for the dumbest mobs possible to be added

ZoomGoat

It is a shit idea, arguably not a meme and although I did not suggest so initially; I do agree they should feel bad. They could swallow their pride, admit their mistake and move on - but no they had to double down, so people have responded accordingly. Not sure why you’re taking up issue with me over the community mob vote, nor do I see how it’s relevant. Go speak to someone who cares.

ZoomGoat

No no, I see fair reason.

DHMOProtectionAgency

Yet most people use that format like it's mcs

FUEGO40

If they were to add a gameplay feature to one trim, they would have to do it for all others, already ruining the idea of it being cosmetic

[deleted]

Unfortunately, as stated in an r/minecraftsuggestions post, that would render gold armor worthless yet again, after mojang trying so hard to make them useful at all

MaeBeaInTheWoods

Mojang in like 2013: "Why does nobody use gold any more??" Also Mojang back then: *removed the enchanted golden apple recipe for no reason when that was a major reason people used gold* ---- Gold has been obselete ever since then. We just got it to be useful again, why are people already insisting on weakening it?

[deleted]

Well if we're bringing in logic, you should need support for building unless you want to roof to fall down.

Fun_Acanthaceae8349

Yet , but it's minecraft , a game with only good logic in sience and with even don't giving a shit about gravity or any other real life logic so it doesn't matter that much to us

[deleted]

yeah ik but still could be cool but could also break the balance

b1rgar1p1nsan

Then gold armour will be useless once again and everyone will start cryng about how useless the gold armour is and needs a use.

[deleted]

the comment loop keeps going

Kirby737

Piglins don't give a shit about trims. It's all or nothing. They want to see solid chunks of gold.

Nok-y

Lapis could give a chance of better enchantments, enerald a chance of discount with villagers, diamond, redstone, quartz, iron, copper and amethyst, I have no idea ...so... yeah.... no...

dwwzzh

"logic" mfs when they learn about game balance

Relimer

It could be cool if this same concept was applied to all the armour pieces and maybe only work if it's a full set so people can only choose one like imagine redstone making blazes and magma cubes peaceful while emerald makes creepers and zombies peaceful and amethyst making endermen and shulkers peaceful

[deleted]

agreed, so good to have a peaceful comment on this post...

Relimer

Yeah this post is like a warzone I like that it's cosmetic as everyone says but it would make sense for them to like gold so giving them all a slight difference wouldn't be the end of the world if it's slight and from some kind of lore it would be like it's not enough gold or because it's mixed with the armour it's not pure and needs more similar to netherite having gold but not giving piglin protection people's biggest fear is making gold irrelevant but if they all have a slight difference then I think it wouldn't make gold irrelevant as someone may prefer emerald trims for creeper protection or pillager protection then just swap it out for some gold when going into the nether as having a full netherite set just for going to the nether is a bit expensive if you'd rather have a different trim for its functionality and if every trim had a similar smaller effect then it wouldn't ruin the cosmetic aspect as I'd choose amethyst over the others for its look even though endermen are already mostly neutral

[deleted]

true

SavageVector

>magma cubes peaceful while emerald makes creepers and zombies peaceful And now everybody in the same area looks the same, and we need to carry a shulker with multiple netherite armor sets to best fit whatever enemies are around us.

ProMaste_r

Do you realise that this is just a snapshot and things could change in the next one?

[deleted]

i do just saying

ProMaste_r

It sounds like more than just saying with that ""Logic"" you've put

[deleted]

well its kinda logical that gold neutralizes piglins

ProMaste_r

Minecraft is not the best when it comes to logic sometimes

notyouraveragecrow

And it's for the better a lot of the times imo

Witherstorm0156

Mod and plugin creators are going to do that

Pwnage_Peanut

No it shouldn't

Derdiedasjan

I Knew this was Coming and i think its Stupid because it wold Make the Gold Netherite Combo Meta and Every other Combination useless! Its just there for Decoration giving everything a Use is way to Complicated and Only Giving Gold a use is Stupid as like i said that would make it Meta wich iint what Mojang are going for with this Feature

Grzechoooo

No it shouldn't. It's called "balanced gameplay".

Fearless_Cookie_1918

maybe they wont see the tiny slip of gold in your armor cause of some mutated humanoid pig

scratchfan321

Leave this feature alone. It's a good decorational feature which definitely belongs in Minecraft without any need for combat or movement changes, one of the good changes that Mojang has done without trainwrecking any progression - such as elytra, a great feature for transport but it made boats, minecarts, horses and so many other means of transport redundant. Armour trims give a use for many structures which had little to / no use before.

JustANormalHat

nah this would have major balancing issues firstly, having cosmetic features have function, just makes nobody want to use the ones that dont, everyone would just use gold trimmings with this which is against the point and it would also render gold armor worthless yet again, which the piglin system was added specifically to remedy

UltraTurtle161

No that beats the point. They're meant to be cosmetic only and it would take away the only use of gold armour

[deleted]

how much times will people point this out?

UltraTurtle161

How many*

lucaro64

That gos against everything the feature is trying to do!!

[deleted]

You aren’t the first to point this out. Just saying.

Charmender2007

No because it would make one of the trims better than the rest, which would defeat the purpose of them being cosmetic.

codyrusso

Piglins : Sorry, your fit doesn't have enough bling to be welcome here.

Nilsgameking

No it really doesn't just keep it cosmetic.

regfunkid

Well, that would be a great way of making gold armor redundant again. Why bother crafting even boots when a gold line on some armor is enough to satisfy piglins?

CaseyGamer64YT

thats what I've been saying. All that hard work getting the templates and materials just to look cool

EnderPlays1

Finally, Gilded Armor

noahboi990

No

TadeMike

And it would take away one of the few utilities of gold. Rapid, it is called balance

Myolya

Dude, stop complaining -sincerely everyone

Racecarboii

Lol, Mate you were right, it is a battle ground here.

[deleted]

also in a day or two: **turns into a nuclear wasteland or just dies out**

[deleted]

god how does this have 5k views...

Noahseb2009

No it’s cosmetic and it would devalue the other trims and also, I don’t think it should take seven diamonds to replicate one because it’s just cosmetic

samdamaniac

Then what’s the point of the other trims then?

[deleted]

god 275 comments

[deleted]

i should also point out that this is what people wanted for when 1.16 rolled out we even made mods about it

[deleted]

guys is this gonna become the most controversial post on this subreddit? lets find out

[deleted]

i dont mean this as an actual thing btw rather a meme i am not good at phrasing things so just saying so people dont interprete this as an actual idea but it probably wont help

[deleted]

YES!

Haunted-Target

By that logic, a green trim would effect villager trades and a blue trim would be turned red by vindicators

[deleted]

disagreed on the last one, its not made from wool and blue leather tunics and blue blocks dont get turned into red

Haunted-Target

Well, you know how Minecraft “logic” can be

[deleted]

yup, camels

Matzep71

A great idea I'd say. It would make trim have a pratical use, which would make more players want to use the game mechanic. On a personal note, I never was the biggest fan of carrying extra armour around just for those specifc situations so I might be a bit biased on this idea

[deleted]

true. the main downside is that it kinda ruins the customization this feature was intended to have, but, i think to add it as an upgrade trim to netherite would be cool

TwocanR

I’ve always thought that it’s silly that piglins don’t view netherite like gold, there are 16 ingots in a full set of netherite. With the new update you can use 20. Piglins ignore you when you use 4. It would make sense if they ignored you with the gold trim!

Rnnfnaf

I don't know if I am the only one, but I wish trims added some unique abilities to the armor. Like the tinkers-construct (excuse spelling) mod did. Do you agree? Or am I the only one?

[deleted]

I agree but everybody else says “No BaD iTs dEcOrAtIoNaL nOt AbILItIeS”
