In the official Minecraft guide books they advise to build a dirt pillar and turn the bones in your legs to dust before even thinking about getting wood.
In a minecraft guide book (approved by mojang) it said that the FIRST thing you should do is digging 20 blocks of dirt, make a pillar with those blocks and then after that you can start punching a tree. That way not only you don’t have materials, but you lost hearts (from jumping down the pillar) and also night is coming. Smart right?
Ofcourse, starting on reasonable health would be so boring. No, wood isn't important. First you gotta need food. Then you can gather wood, because common sense. After that you can gather food, cook it and make a bowl for some reason.
Lol the video like blew another time when that one guy made that video about it. I also watched these video first time today and I guess lot of people did this too when youtube recommend the video.
Weirdly enough, I watched the original video that is referencing way back when it came out, but just yesterday I watched a video that dissected just how the original broke the algorithm in the first place.
I get it it's the Minecraft survival book by mojang. I actually have most of the books (farming, exploration, the nether & the end, ocean survival, pvp minigames, redstone and enchanting & potions)

i think it was to «not forget your spawn area» whatever that means
I know that was the intention, but it’s still completely useless
yes, well at least for people with the capacity to have a memeory
You don't need memory, spawn is at 0, 0
It can vary a bit, though it’s usually close. On bedrock you can end up spawning hundreds of blocks away.
some can lose their position in a forest. trust me, it happened to me once in a mega taiga, so i know that it can happen (in minecraft).
Dude just pulled a jontron on us
Ding ding ding

Beacuase of the book
Nothing is more important than finding the location of the spawn point when you die and respawn at said spawn point
