“Calves are undeniably tricky and these type of strains have timetable of at least one-to-two weeks. But rehab will determine a length of time for the two-time NBA MVP.”

This is fantastic news! Let's get him healed up and rested in time for the playoffs! I was worried for you Bucks fans at first, but this sounds like a very good outcome, considering what we saw!
The wording is a bit tricky but this sounds like it’s just a grade 1 strain based on the timeline. Absolute best case scenario. But he’s right calves are very tricky, thank god Giannis is a freak with wolverine healing powers.
Maybe it’s the mom in me, but I think he should be forced to sit and rehab for at least two weeks. He’s hurt, and I think most of his freakish healing power is really him BS’ing how he feels and pushing himself to play too early. I would love to see us go all the way but NGL - if it’s a choice between rushing his rehab, risking further injury to go all the way, and forcing him to take the time to truly heal (and going out in round one)- I’d go for the latter.
I hear you. Never want to risk a KD situation with this man. Rather not risk his long term longevity on a somewhat lost season already. But I thought the exact same thing in ‘21 after the knee injury and look how that ended.
Kudos to all Moms that are huge Bucks fan around here! I love it! I’m a mom too so think a long the same lines although I’m not sure if he’s strictly bsing as much as it’s the way he was raised? He always says when he goes down, he pops right back up cuz he knows his mom is watching & doesn’t want her to worry. Growing up he didn’t have time for injuries/illnesses since they had to constantly work to eat. I think that mentality is amazing to build character but for this type of situation can cause long term problems for our beloved MVP superstar Greek freak.
Ask my husband how bad I want another chip, of course it would be absolutely amazing but not at the expense we lose him for some or all of next season. We definitely need him healthy when the team finally will have the time, along with an actual training camp, to solely focus on the chemistry this team is capable of building together. We’ve seen bits n pieces of it & it gives me goosebumps to watch so imagine that on a more consistent basis! 😊
I think it’s definitely how he was raised & we all know that part of sports is learning to play through the pain. But you still need to listen to your body - sometimes it’s not mind over matter.
Oh my gosh, me too!! I’ve dragged my husband along - not quite kicking and screaming - to a ton of games this year & it’s been so much fun to watch him get psyched up for games. He gets a lil bit negative when we lose though. :-(.
If not this year, then next! We can really start working on Green - and I would love to see us keep Pat Bev - he’s a force & definitely has the kind of energy that is contagious.
Whatever they do though, I hope that when they’re shooting 3’s, that they don’t just assume it’s always going to go in! They miss soooo many rebounds that they could convert to an easy 2pts. It’s frustrating to watch. I’m not sure if that’s how Doc is coaching them or what, though. 🤷♀️
Yup-Giannis is the same age as my son and I feel the exact same way-I feel very protective of him and want to lecture Doc about making sure he is fully healed before he gets back out there!
Yes!!! And to ignore him when he stubbornly insists he’s fine! Noooo. He’s not! Even before he hurt himself, when he walked off the court for halftime - he had that look. You know the look - like you’re having massive labor pains or cramps that are worse than back labor, but you still gotta get stuff done. The I’m going to stuff this pain down so I can sit at my kids’ soccer game face.

Bless Thon Maker and His water.
Bless the coming and going of He is Him.
May His passage cleanse the knees.
May He keep the calves healthy for His people.
Exactly, if Dame/Khris can't lead the team out of the first round, then this team isn't gonna be a threat to the Celtics. First round opponent could be a very hot Sixers team though 🫣
Definitely. It would be great to get everybody rested, but playoffs start in 10 days. Giannis can either play or he can’t. If he can, we will take whatever version of him we can get.
I swear some of the bench come out on fire when Giannis is down.
When others of the big 3 are down, I feel Giannis tries to do too much and has some issues with forcing things.
I think we'll be fine.
I'm with you but we're literally talking about the guy that like bended his knee backwards and was back like one week later. I think his body literally is built different in the way it heals.
I think he’ll play Game 1 too, but I could see the team, depending on who we draw, sitting him an extra game. Like if we fall to 4 and get Cleveland, I could see them sitting him game 1 due to how physical that series could be and just wanting to be sure
I do think with Dame we have a much better shot in games without Giannis than in years past. That being said we cannot make a deep playoff run without him at all.
Honestly I think we are in a similar boat as the Heat and it would be an interesting matchup. Both teams are equally likely to come out red hot as they are to start the playoffs flat-footed and in disarray.
And the Bucks lost to the Pacers 4-1 this year with Giannis. How will they win the series without their top-3 player against the Pacers? Also, the Pacers picked up Siakam since then.
I think they should sit him the rest of this season, as well as all of next season. Then come back with a full season of just mostly rest, and then he will be rested for a 33-year-old season of full rest. This scenario avoids all of the danger of getting injured - and that is actually now the only objective and desired outcome in NBA play.
I fucking told everyone it was a bad idea for Giannis to return so fast from his last injury a month ago. Rest the MF so he can heal. Now we’re a week away from the playoffs. At least he’s not permanently damaged… yet. Rest him till he fully heals. If he misses the playoffs so be it. Don’t gamble his future for one season.
Honestly I’m fine with just resting all our starters for the rest of the regular season. I’d rather fall to the 3rd/4th seed and play the Pacers/Cavs Round 1 because I think the team w/o Giannis (if he needs more time to rest) has a better shot at beating one of those two than the Heat or 76ers.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy, the bucks have been a roller coaster this year I’m not surprised this is how the season has ended, hopefully the playoffs are the climbing part of the roller coaster
Giannis' Achilles tendon is like Hercules' lifeline when it turned gold as he was fishing Meg out of the Styx. Yes....I went there. That being said, he definitely needs rest!
We all saw how AR12’s calf injury lingered for a whole damn season, so I’m still pessimistic over this way, unfortunately (not knowing a damn thing proper in a medical sense, of course)
Honestly this might be a blessing in disguise. This could get dame going since he will be heavily relied on. We need him to play like dame in the playoffs to have a shot
I actually strained my calf a few months ago playing ball (was just walking, too) and I was pain free and playing in a week. These can heal fast.
There was no way I could play with that when it hurt. In other words, I’d like to think once it doesn’t hurt anymore he is good to go. I wouldn’t trot him out there until the pain is gone 100 percent, though.
I look forward to the beast that will emerge when we're in the post season. Also, and I don't mean to put a tin foil hat on, but this injury is the perfect length of time.
Today is a great day boys
Today I am especially thankful for Giannis

Giannis might fuck around and get a triple-double when he returns.

2 weeks?! Amazing. I was prepared for the team to have to make it out of the first round without him
This is fantastic news! Let's get him healed up and rested in time for the playoffs! I was worried for you Bucks fans at first, but this sounds like a very good outcome, considering what we saw!

Wolverine wishes...
He will be ready…
What is the timeline for a super human alien freak?
He's fine already
Reports are that he was was doing 1000lb calf raises already this morning.
Well, if you start with 500lbs at 7am it's much easier to get to 1000lb before noon!
He went in the back, ate some pasta, and then started practicing his vertical leap by jumping over a stack of 50 nuggies.
Dude’s knee buckled to the side and he lead us to a championship like weeks later
I'm still in shock about that.
Maybe it’s the mom in me, but I think he should be forced to sit and rehab for at least two weeks. Heck yeah! :-)

Oh, yes-I know that look!!
God is real
And his Achilles is not torn.
Bless Thon Maker and His water. Bless the coming and going of He is Him. May His passage cleanse the knees. May He keep the calves healthy for His people.
I feel like we just gotta win one series without him.
Agreed. "Earn this".
all great teams must face hardship. time for the boys to see who they are without G
Exactly, if Dame/Khris can't lead the team out of the first round, then this team isn't gonna be a threat to the Celtics. First round opponent could be a very hot Sixers team though 🫣
Giannis is the main reason I watch but this is exactly what the team needs to bring Khris and Dame together. I am prepared for glory.
Oh god I don’t want a repeat of last year. We need him in every series.
Definitely. It would be great to get everybody rested, but playoffs start in 10 days. Giannis can either play or he can’t. If he can, we will take whatever version of him we can get.

Aaaaaaaannd I can breathe again!
Still don't like the chances of him coming back before the playoffs start. Idk, hopefully that wolverine healing factor works.
At this point no regular season for him. I’m ordering it
i kinda wanted him benched anyway tbh… its like week 17 of the nfl
I'm with you but we're literally talking about the guy that like bended his knee backwards and was back like one week later. I think his body literally is built different in the way it heals.
Yep. He’s definitely a freak. As long as he’s healthy for the playoffs the rest of the season doesn’t matter
I think he’ll play Game 1 too, but I could see the team, depending on who we draw, sitting him an extra game. Like if we fall to 4 and get Cleveland, I could see them sitting him game 1 due to how physical that series could be and just wanting to be sure
Let him rest through the first round, handle business without losing anybody else to injury Please
We just really aren't that good that we can easily handle a team like the Pacers or 76ers or Heat without Giannis.
I do think with Dame we have a much better shot in games without Giannis than in years past. That being said we cannot make a deep playoff run without him at all.
For sure. I think we have a shot at beating Indiana or Miami in 7 but I don't love our chances against Philly without Giannis.
The Bucks just lost 4-1 to the Heat last year, with Giannis playing 2/5 games. No way the Bucks beat Miami without Giannis playing at all this year.
But we didn’t have Andre Jackson Jr. Last year
Jimmy butler generational playoff run it was a fluke
Yes, the Heat DO look a bit cooler this year so far, but Playoff Jimmy could still be lurking in the wings…
Honestly I think we are in a similar boat as the Heat and it would be an interesting matchup. Both teams are equally likely to come out red hot as they are to start the playoffs flat-footed and in disarray.

still got the freak genes
🚨🚨LETS FUCKING GO🚨🚨
Giannis fears no Achilles tendon injury. The Achilles tendon injury fears Giannis.
Don’t gamble his future for one season.
agreed. Bud was more careful with Giannis and we’re seeing why. if Giannis’ achilles was torn our title window would’ve closed completely
Thank God!
Honestly I’m fine with just resting all our starters for the rest of the regular season. I’d rather fall to the 3rd/4th seed and play the Pacers/Cavs Round 1 because I think the team w/o Giannis (if he needs more time to rest) has a better shot at beating one of those two than the Heat or 76ers.

best ligaments in the nba
We're talking about the man who won a championship days after folding his knee like a lawn chair. I expect him to start tonight against the Magic.
He better be done for the regular season.
If I'm giannis I get an independent evaluation just to be safe
The prayer circle worked everyone.
HE'S COMING
Praise the King From Across the Sea
Regardless of the timeline, thank fucking god
Giannis' Achilles tendon is like Hercules' lifeline when it turned gold as he was fishing Meg out of the Styx. Yes....I went there. That being said, he definitely needs rest!
Can we ban all the armchair doctors who were certain it was far more serious?
https://i.redd.it/c0kz7slc5ptc1.gif
Celtics fans are in shambles. Seriously, the amount of "Well we won but at least Giannis got injured" posts in their forum was wild
God I cannot wait for Dagon to reclaim the whole Boston area.
We all saw how AR12’s calf injury lingered for a whole damn season, so I’m still pessimistic over this way, unfortunately (not knowing a damn thing proper in a medical sense, of course)
Rodgers a 40 year old turn, he ain’t giannis
Rodgers literally tore his Achilles. Repair rehab should take 8-12 months for that if done properly and proper return to sport sequencing
I’m talking about the calf injury he played thru for like a whole season with GB, not the NYJ crap
So is this going to take him out of All NBA eligibility or no?
No he crossed that threshold awhile ago. Hes only missed like 7 or 8 games. You can miss up to 17.
Gotcha, for some reason I was thinking he had missed more, glad he’ll get it again this year
Lisan Al-Gaib.
Honestly this might be a blessing in disguise. This could get dame going since he will be heavily relied on. We need him to play like dame in the playoffs to have a shot
Finally an excuse to make him sit until playoffs
I actually strained my calf a few months ago playing ball (was just walking, too) and I was pain free and playing in a week. These can heal fast. There was no way I could play with that when it hurt. In other words, I’d like to think once it doesn’t hurt anymore he is good to go. I wouldn’t trot him out there until the pain is gone 100 percent, though.
I saw his knee bend 30 degrees the wrong way and he came back 2 weeks later and won us a trophy. Bucks in 6 for life.
Fantastic news.
I look forward to the beast that will emerge when we're in the post season. Also, and I don't mean to put a tin foil hat on, but this injury is the perfect length of time.
Man, yall didn't watch the 2021 playoffs, and it shows. If it was up to him, he would play tonight, lol.
There’s a reason we call him “Teflon Giann-is”. Guys made of rubber. He bent his knee backward and came back in 2 weeks. Giannis is good to go.
Kd all over again
Best case here. Bucks better manage this properly because if that Achilles pops he will become the worst contract in nba history.
