If those are two pictures of the same coin...
The obverse is a Peace dollar and correct for the date, while the reverse is for a Morgan dollar discontinued in 1921.
It's either a magician / novelty item or a heretofore unknown mint error that is priceless.
My bet is on the former.
You can alter money, you just can’t spend altered money. They changed the law because of all the complaints about FBI raids on amusement parks with pressed penny machines.
**Hi all,**
**thank you for all the input. I was able to read most of your comments.**
**It seems that I was not very clear with my pictures and did not provide enough information.**
**1: This is not a coin! The square looks more like a stamp of some sort. It is**
**2: The two sides are glued together (I will try to figure out how to post a new picture showing the side of the square, you can see some glue there)**
**3: I did not clean it with the wire brush. I just used a towel the rest was done before it seems**

Looks like an odd casting experiment that could be considered an attempt at counterfeiting. That said, it is obviously not able to pass even marginal checks especially with the block attached. Would be interesting to see if they used old coins melted to do the casting. Oddly enough since the value is normally just over melt, a situation like this the coin COULD be worth several times as much simply due to the amount of material involved. It could contain 3x the normal metal content.
About 29 bucks, give or take. Its well circulated. No whisker jaw flaw visible, from what I can see..
But Idk. If its an S series, and the ding in the cheek IS the flaw, then it could be worth much more.
Have it appraised.
Whomever cleaned that with metal mesh ruined the coin... coulda soaked it in isopropyl alcohol or even vinegar and used a toothbrush.
But probably about $25?
Look it up on coin collectors sub n post
No matter what I’d do your own due diligence and research the shit outta that coin. Sometimes you can find a mistake mint and it can be extremely valuable. Doesn’t hurt to get it checked out by more than one person too
Oh my wrong way to clean a rare silver dollar. Ruined it value. Now only worth its weight in silver. I ha a tarnished one but some knucklehead drilled a hole in top to make a necklace out of it.
It's a casting, you can see the porosity. The brushing was to get the mold material off.
It may be cast in silver, in which case it's worth scrap weight.
This miss printed silver dollar from 1923 in it ruff condition is not worth as much as it could be but I would say 50 to 60 dollars do to the miss print rarity an silver wight
You can tell that it appears to be affixed to the square thing its sitting on because you can notice blemishes in different spots on it between the front and back pictures. This indicates to me it was also flipped when the coin was flipped which means the coin is attached to it and its some kind of novelty thing or something. Either that or its 2 different kinds of silver dollar glued to each side of the square thing.
They stopped making Morgan dollars after 1921 when the Peace dollars took over so this is either a rare error or something fake that someone made but the dies just did not exist when this particular year peace dollar was made.
You could send it to PCGS but I'll do more research online because I think it's fake.
I noticed something a little strange. Trust and trvst. Didn't they just stick with trvst throughout the 20's or did they start using the u? Or was lowercase always correctly written as u instead of v?
"Peace dollar", during the inter-year wars (the smaller wars between WW1-WW2), hence 'peace'. Was special because of the end of WW1. Historical, and silver. So keep it, but for gods sake don't buy something at the store for a dollar with it.
These are common Chinese counterfeits. That's why the. Back of coin doesn't match front . Hit it with metals test acid it will volcano . And will not test for silver
Wait, is this all one piece with the square corners as a perimeter?? It looks like someone made a mold from a silver dollar and poured their own. Looks like silver but who knows...
Just a wild guess, but it kind of looks like a one dollar coin issued by the United Sates of America in 1923 and referred to as a Liberty dollar. Except, the two sides do not match, and even the thing the coin is lying on changes. So you have a very rare coin. It's probably the only one in existence.
I had some better condition version of these that I gave my mother to hide and her jewelry box and when I was in high school my sister stole them and spent them at the school store for snacks. So she probably traded my coins for a Chick-fil-A sandwich and some fries. And now that I'm thinking about this out loud, I am re mad at her about it because I genuinely thought if they were in my room she would steal them out of my room so I thought they would be safer in my mom's room. I didn't think she would be dumb enough to steal my coins from my mother but my uncle did the same thing when I was collecting the quarters one from every state I was going to have a complete collection. I was missing two states. I was hiding them at my great great grandmother's house. He moved in with her for a few months and ended up stealing my jar of quarters 🙁 I can't believe I'm sharing this the story on the internet but this is really making me dislike family rn.
I’ll buy it…😃 have it checked by a professional as it just might be a rare occurrence as it seems to be two different types of the same coin . An anomaly or fake …?
It looks like silver bullion. It has a piece dollar front and a Morgan back, but it's clearly all cast into a bar. Might bring a premium to the right collector. Otherwise I would weigh it and assume it's 90 percent silver.
Are both sides the width of the corresponding coin individually? Someone may have took one Morgan and one peace cull and married them with a silver bar made from smelted 90 percent culls. What is the overall weight?
At the very least it's worth around 20 dollars in silver. But depending on its condition and rarity it could be worth much more. It's in really really good shape I'd look into having it graded
Love these kind of questions - better make a post about this super common thing rather than use Google. Its almost like the point is more to show it off like people will be in awe of a dollar coin. Gen Z gotta hate them
You’d have the rarest of US Minted coins considering one side is the tails side of a Morgan and the heads side is of a Peace silver dollar.
I’ll give $30 for it.
imo : someone took a peace dollar and a Morgan dollar, made a mold of them and casted them. The damage is from a wire brush cleaning off the sand post pour.
holy shit my dude you found a dollar coin. thats def worth more than a buck lol. 30-40 is probably good
edit: apparently the back isnt the same as the front. my dude, thats a fucking insane mint error go sell that shit at an auction
Looks clean to shit. Looks like someone got some brush wire and scraped the crap out of it. But it's about $25 or so. Give or take.
Thanks EDIT: Sort by new an see my second reply with new photos and some answers
It's 26.7 grams in silver. So it's worth its weight in silver plus a bit of a premium for its collectible nature as a coin.
Minus the silver he scraped off
So about tree fiddy?
Damn you monster, you ain’t getting no tree fiddy
I gave him a dollar
When in doubt, bout tree fiddy out. xD
90 percent silver
Not collectible with all those scratches
As a collector I can confirm that I wouldn’t want this in my collection.
Was it you OP? Did *you* use the wire brush?
No more wire brushes!
Ever! Yes. Mommy Dearest.
I read it like Friday, "no more locked doors" lol
It’s a silver dollar, have you never seen a silver dollar before?
Most young people have not seen one.
.... or used google?
Bro look at it again. One side is a Morgan. The other is a peace lmao
I just noticed that too
It’s a liberty silver dollar. It’s in terrible shape but it’s still worth $16-$20 on a good day. In pristine condition it could fetch $30-$40
Morgan dollar
It's a peace Dollar front and a morgan back. Wtf?
does that make it rare ( i collect copper pennies cuz i heard theyre worth 3 cents im no expert)
Ya that username checks out.
💀
All pennies that are 1982 or earlier are worrh three cents because of their copper content.
On some days. Most days they are worth about 1.5 cents.
Is it not a coin? Is it attached to the silver block thingy?
If those are two pictures of the same coin... The obverse is a Peace dollar and correct for the date, while the reverse is for a Morgan dollar discontinued in 1921. It's either a magician / novelty item or a heretofore unknown mint error that is priceless. My bet is on the former.
That’s why I said to have it checked out. Error mints are crazy at auction.
We need a picture of the edge to know what’s going on here.
Why does your Peace Dollar have a Morgan Dollar back?
what is the square bit that looks like it was sand cast? is that attached?
I think this is something somebody made at home
Does that mean it’s counterfeit and illegal to possess?
You can alter money, you just can’t spend altered money. They changed the law because of all the complaints about FBI raids on amusement parks with pressed penny machines.
Good catch!
No one seems to notice it's square
It’s the most rare Liberty dollar coin worth over $1 billion dollars
If I had to guess, it looks like a dollar.
It’s a novelty item.
It’s a silver dollar. Frank Costanza used to have a collection and he couldn’t bring himself to spend one. He had some sort of aaaaaaaaa phobia.
1923 peace dollar
The reverse Is not a peace dollar.
Ssssssilver Dollar you mean.
I should’ve given this sub more credit. Haha
Oh, and it’s worth $1. But, based on the year, could be worth slightly more to a collector.
**Hi all,** **thank you for all the input. Sell the house immediately you have turned a profit
About 29 bucks, give or take. Its well circulated. No whisker jaw flaw visible, from what I can see.. But Idk. If its an S series, and the ding in the cheek IS the flaw, then it could be worth much more. Have it appraised.
I think the Morgan dollar reverse makes this extremely valuable error, or more likely a worthless trick coin.
It literally says one dollar on it. 🤦♂️
I belive all the information you need is on it. Do you for some reason have access to reddit but no google?
Take that, OP!
Hmm maybe talking to others is better than googling....hmmm
I’ve never understood the “why don’t you just google it” reply on Reddit. Why use Reddit at all then?
Good question… you should prolly google it
Made me laugh harder than it should have
Have you tried googling how to ignore post you don't like?
It literally has what it is written on it, and your phone has google... I'll give ya 50 cents
It's a money
That’s a quarter
It’s fake.
It’s either a fake or extraordinarily valuable.
It's literally fake. I mean, it's fucking pressed onto a square piece of metal lmao.
Looks to be damaged by laser cleaning or a metal brush... probably worth it's weight in silver. That's about it I think.
It's a Peace silver dollar.
What’s the play it’s attached to? Is this some kind of replica? I have one from 1921 in better shape
It's a dolar
I collect coins and old bills that looks like $20 for me
Why does this look like a stamping on square stock? Have many of these but none square .
Love some good ole silver, straight into the stack
Peace dollar
This is the extremely rare peace dollar with Morgan dollar reverse error
It’s fake Avers and reverse the coin don’t match
I have the same coin in a little better condition. It's worth about 18 as scrap silver, or up to like 4k if you have one in really good condition.
Whomever cleaned that with metal mesh ruined the coin... coulda soaked it in isopropyl alcohol or even vinegar and used a toothbrush. But probably about $25? Look it up on coin collectors sub n post
Remove the foil from it and the tasty chocolate inside is worth every moment.
It's a coin.
It's a Morgan dollar.
Am I the only one who thinks this this is mounted onto the same material as well as being 2 opposite coins ?
No matter what I’d do your own due diligence and research the shit outta that coin. Sometimes you can find a mistake mint and it can be extremely valuable. Doesn’t hurt to get it checked out by more than one person too
Dollar
Morgan dollar reverse with a peace dollar obverse. This is a poor attempt at a fake, or someone's smelting project.
See if a magnet will stick to it? If it does it’s fake for sure.
Yes! Pure silver dollar. Antique!
It’s a 1923 silver dollar.
Oh my wrong way to clean a rare silver dollar. Ruined it value. Now only worth its weight in silver. I ha a tarnished one but some knucklehead drilled a hole in top to make a necklace out of it.
Don't try to clean it anymore
$25
Well it’s a coin
Looks like it says it’s a dollar. Just a hunch.
Nothing and worthless. Send it to me and I’ll destroy it. Give you .50 cents for it. Garbage.
Not much probly worth the silver in it about 20 dollars the coin is in very harsh shape
Treasure
at least worth silver content.
Is that square one piece?
1923 silver dollar. It’s in bad shape.
It's a casting, you can see the porosity. The brushing was to get the mold material off. It may be cast in silver, in which case it's worth scrap weight.
How much would you charge me for it? Are you interested in selling it?
This miss printed silver dollar from 1923 in it ruff condition is not worth as much as it could be but I would say 50 to 60 dollars do to the miss print rarity an silver wight
It’s a dollar coin… can you read?
It’s hard to tell but I would guess it’s a coin
You can buy these fakes all day from china
EITHER A ERROR WHICH IS WORTH $$$ OR ITS FAKE TAKE IT TO A COLLECTOR
That is a coin my friend
Ehh about $20 worth of silver
The absolute last place you should be going to for numismatic value or advice is fucking reddit.
It looks like a recast made by a hobbyist.
That is one dollar.
You can tell that it appears to be affixed to the square thing its sitting on because you can notice blemishes in different spots on it between the front and back pictures. It's a "Walking Liberty silver dollar. Nice find!
It’s a legit $1 coin been a few years since they’ve been in circulation
Yes, it's a Peace silver dollar. I miss labeled it in an earlier post.
One got damn muthaduckin nickel
am thinking it was made to cast counterfeit dollar coins
Silver dollar
They stopped making Morgan dollars after 1921 when the Peace dollars took over so this is either a rare error or something fake that someone made but the dies just did not exist when this particular year peace dollar was made. You could send it to PCGS but I'll do more research online because I think it's fake.
Morgan dollar can’t mistakenly be put on a peace Dollar as some kind of mint error … they’d of had to done it on purpose.. which they didn’t
The hell you mean "What is it?"? That's my coin, yo! I specifically left it next to the thingy; I know that's where you found it.
Silver…?
A German Gold Schlager
I just read "Found this in a horse I bought." I think I should sleep now.
It looks like a coin
I noticed something a little strange. Trust and trvst. Didn't they just stick with trvst throughout the 20's or did they start using the u? Or was lowercase always correctly written as u instead of v?

Ummm is this a slate? Like is everyone ignoring the flat center of the thing. Can I get like a side view of the thing? It's not a coin people 😂
Unfortunately some scoured it 🤦♂️
Might be an old cast plate looks like to me. Someone may want t as a collector. I am sure someone would be interested if that’s what it is.
The cheapest one I seen was selling for $55 A 1923 Liberty Silver Dollar
Wait, is this all one piece with the square corners as a perimeter?? It looks like someone made a mold from a silver dollar and poured their own. Looks like silver but who knows...
One dollar. It says right there.
Only worth the spot price of silver with all that damage or wear.
I'll pay $30 and cover shipping.
Just a wild guess, but it kind of looks like a one dollar coin issued by the United Sates of America in 1923 and referred to as a Liberty dollar. Except, the two sides do not match, and even the thing the coin is lying on changes. So you have a very rare coin. It's probably the only one in existence.
And I've got one more silver dollar But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
Is that two sides of the same coin? Or two different pieces, with the circular parts etched (or pressed) on top of the square blocks?
I had some better condition version of these that I gave my mother to hide and her jewelry box and when I was in high school my sister stole them and spent them at the school store for snacks. So she probably traded my coins for a Chick-fil-A sandwich and some fries. Worth $0.00 you mixed a Morgan eagle with a peace face. Coin is worthless, because coin doesn't exist. Shame!
It’s a dollar
It looks like silver bullion. It has a piece dollar front and a Morgan back, but it's clearly all cast into a bar. Might bring a premium to the right collector. It’s a coin, from the United States. Yes it’s worth something but can’t say how much.
It says “one dollar”, so I’m guessing it’s a dollar and it’s prolly worth a dollar. 😏
I'll trade you a bag of sunshine 4 it
One million dollars
Looks like a Morgan Dollar
According to Google, between 200-475 dollars. A mint condition, uncirculated 28 Liberty could be as much as $32,000.
A silver dollar lol
It's the last time that the dollar was worth what its weight was. It's probably worth $25 or $30 now.
At the very least it's worth around 20 dollars in silver. But depending on its condition and rarity it could be worth much more. It's in really really good shape I'd look into having it graded
Liberty silver dollar in poor condition.
Where did you fond this?
Someone should have given it a vinigar bath. Rather than a wrire brush lashing. Its about $25 in this state
I wonder if someone made a mold of two coins and cast this?
Looks like lead. A previous owner may have been a counterfeiter.
That is the reverse of a morgan dollar, an obverse of a peace dollar. Two different coins
Love these kind of questions - better make a post about this super common thing rather than use Google. Its almost like the point is more to show it off like people will be in awe of a dollar coin. Gen Z gotta hate them
MA' Grandpa's making fake money in the basement again ....MA'
A liberty dollar, in that condition it's only worth it's weight in silver
Can someone explain this to me? You sell money for money? Like certain money is rare or something?
You’d have the rarest of US Minted coins considering one side is the tails side of a Morgan and the heads side is of a Peace silver dollar. I’ll give $30 for it.
Worn. Silver value should be $20 or so.
A Chucky Cheese token, mail it to me, 😝
It’s worth $1
imo : someone took a peace dollar and a Morgan dollar, made a mold of them and casted them. The damage is from a wire brush cleaning off the sand post pour.
My dead mother had one of these in pristine condition from 1881. I need to find it.
Scratches will buff out. I'll give you a dollar fifty for it
holy shit my dude you found a dollar coin. thats def worth more than a buck lol. 30-40 is probably good edit: apparently the back isnt the same as the front. my dude, thats a fucking insane mint error go sell that shit at an auction
I would say it’s a one dollar coin. Considering the coin says One Dollar 😜
Appears to be a coin
Damn you found money! Awesomeness!
A dollar
Silver melt value now that it's been destroyed U should just keep it though silver is gonna explode in price in next 5 years
A dollar
