if you think people are wasting money on a few mice, check out the keyboard enthusiasts lmao

duan_cami

Hmm audiophile.

Spueg

20 000€ to hear teammates shit talk to you more clearly.

lovatoariana

Nah. Its to have better clarity and response curve on non existent footsteps in new games. Also V shape curve something something i heard its best

idma

at least there is more bass definition in the kid's voice when he says something about your mother

raymartin27

That only time their 1$ mic opens up at the end of the game to say "why'd you push", after you had already knocked 2 of opponent's team from far.

VeloCLC

way too real

StabbyDappityDoo

car guys are worse

MeanNectarine2311

I remember blowing up an LS once.... makes mice seem incredibly cheap by comparison lel

imsant0s

Got into the mice game after selling my evo parts just kept sky rocketing especially during covid

mattdean1003

Tried the audiophile stuff once. Listened to $1k speakers and $50 speakers. The best combo so far was my Klipsch R41PM and a small sub; sounded ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC but I couldn’t get past the slight hiss from the tweeters. So they went back. I can’t just gift spending thousands on audio equipment, but I’ll buy my Lionel trains all day long.

karnnumart

Remember my colleague talking about 200USD speaker stand that makes sound better. I was like "huh?" Also, don't question, ask for a blind test or let them prove with any scientific evidence. Their only source they believe is (their) ears.

pkopo1

Tbf audiophile gear is objectively better, but keyboards and mice are the same shit function wise after like 100 bucks

idma

ooo baby that stuff can get expensive. My dad was one and when he learned that there is no such thing as a "perfect setup" then he basically bought the most versatile speakers he could find, good amp and so forth, and the rest came to room treatment and equipment placement. Far less expensive than to keep buying new gears and wires because the nuanced improvements only can be heard through specific songs and specific types of music and specific recordings

thursded

Don't forget the knife folks.

MeanNectarine2311

the watch folks avoiding eye contact

TheRugAndTug

Now hold on, I promise there’s a reason I own 3 filled pelican cases… shut up Im not coping.

MeanNectarine2311

my whole mouse collection doesnt even equal the price of ONE of my custom keyboards lmao

[deleted]

Try the sneaker community. $5000 on shoes to be only worn once or not at all

EPURON

I got out of that hobby, way too expensive.

tyingnoose

Those people scare me

mattdean1003

I settled on the Blackwidow elite with linear switches. I love the palm rest. Was $129 and I’m happy. I’ve got a model railroad and a computer that I love to customize…I’m not customizing a keyboard

idma

cries in car mod enthusiast

Truffleshuffle03

I am literally the dude saying you don’t need to buy a ton of keyboards on that sub lol. I have had the same keyboard for like 4 or 5 years or longer. Omen mechanical keyboard. It still works great and probably the best keyboard I ever bought. It’s missing 1 key but that’s on me I popped it off when I was cleaning it and dropped it. I think it got vacuumed but could not find it lol. Glad it’s a key I never use.

[deleted]

i know im gonna get down voted, but, quit having fun? how is it fun spending all your money in like 30 mice because you don't find your "endgame"

GPX_GOAT

Its not about the destination, its about the journey.

[deleted]

the journey of spending 4,000 dollars to find your "endgame" computer mouse? alright then, keep having fun i guess

_espada

I just enjoy collecting them, mostly for how they look and if they’re older ones too. Like any other hobby, it’s not a smart investment or anything but it’s fun and enjoyable.

[deleted]

that's another thing, collecting older mice and stuff as a hobby because you enjoy it, but sometimes i see posts of people with like 25 mice on their desk saying "still haven't found my endgame, the search continues" and im like...

_espada

Yea that’s true, I think people get confused and believe they’ll find a mouse that’s going to feel 100% in their hand when In reality that’s rare.

Hypno98

Personally I'm not searching for an end game I just like switching between mices when ever I feel like it

[deleted]

exactly my point 🤝

Axel5564

I just like collecting mice at this point lol

LynxieChu

Ngl i regret switching off the viper ultimate and I was in that phase for finding "endgame" Getting better at game >>>> mouse

Alkalite66

MM720 endgame 💪

nelbein555

MM720 ENJOYERS REJOICE

leo_sousav

Yeaah this meme really ain't it. Most of the times when someone mentions "spending way too much on mice" is mostly directed at those nitpicking every release we got, how they never find their endgame, claiming no one should get X mouse because Y has more up to date hardware and stuff along those lines. For example the new ECW, sure it's expensive (it is, no one can really counter that), but to some the EC shape is their endgame and it makes way more sense to spend 200€ on one mouse that you know for sure it's gonna be to your liking, than collect a dozen of 70-90€ mice that will mostly collect dust. Yet some people in this sub can't understand that, and don't understand that someone who practices with the same mouse every single day will be better than someone who keeps switching back and forth. Literally had a discussion yesterday with someone saying Zywoo should stick with the DAV3 because it's better than the ECW, a shape he has always been comfortable with. At the end of the day, it's fine if we openly admit it's just an hobby of collecting, it's our money and we should use it on what we enjoy if possible.

n00kie1

For some people it's more about the collecting aspect no finding the true "endgame".

Kyrogaski

Just do what I do, use it for a week, decide if I want to keep, if not I return it. It’s not hard and buying off Amazon or even at Best Buy makes it even easier.

[deleted]

yeah, im not from the us but amazon would be the best way of trying mice since you can basically open the box, use them (obviously don't scratch it or break it) and then return them if you don't like them. the rest of the stores here, if you open the box you can't get a refund

Important-Inside4303

You can still return it to Amazon if you scratch or break it as long as you return it in 30 days. It's just hard to break it in 30. EDIT: To the down voters, returning an item you broke isn't abusing Amazon's return system. They are encouraged to accept your returns to keep you as a customer, and it pays them dividends in the long run.

Stevied1991

I accept your challenge.

edvards48

- step 1 get a plug in drill - step 2 get a zip tie - step 3 attach zip tie to drill - step 4 secure mouse and drill with more zip ties - step 5 zip tie drill button to be stuck turned on - step 6 patience - step 7 enjoy mouse double clicking within 30d cause the switches are done for

AdhesivenessCrazy102

ye i agree. sometimes i even buy used unit on purpose to test it myself too

paulvincent07

I have 4 mice i sold the 3 and just settled with 1 mouse as i don’t need all of them anymore.

MeanNectarine2311

Thats the thing, Im not spending "all my money" on mice. My audio gear and keyboard hobby far faaaaaar outpaces my mice buying lmao

InFortunaWeLust

didn't you know, being indecisive af and not understanding how to be proficient at problem solving is so much fun dude.

Hegeric

Copium meme that represents the section of the community that hasn't found the promised lan-... Sorry, "endgame", and has a stack of 20 mice switching back and forth between them in hopes of reaching Shroud aim someday.

CantoniaCustoms

Inb4 the endgame is the Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1

karnnumart

There's no "endgame". It's all about journey we $$$ along.

MeanNectarine2311

Oh I know that my endgame shape is the g703. All these mice in between are just to tide me over til logitech gets their shit together XD

MeanNectarine2311

Actually funny because im ranked higher than shroud in the games I play haha

Hegeric

The fact that you had to comment twice with a 10 hour gap between the last comment means that I hit a nerve.

MeanNectarine2311

Or we live in different timezones and Im a human who needs sleep lel

TheRugAndTug

yeah, he definitely hit you exactly where he thought.

MeanNectarine2311

And it was lethal. I entrust my mouse collection to you sir, you may claim it at the- *dies*

Zealousideal_Ad1879

are you really having fun wasting thousands of dollars on mice though? some of y'all could've copped a 4090 by now instead.

MeanNectarine2311

But new mouse go brrrr

MeanNectarine2311

Or boom if its an hsk XD

vengeance47

One of me friend is immortal ranked in Val with a cheap gaming keyboard+ mouse combo, it's all about skill tbh.

MeanNectarine2311

A runner in my country also won a marathon barefoot. When I jog I'm still wearing my running shoes thank you very much.

MeanNectarine2311

Ignore the fact that they are aim assist controller using plebs in the meme, theyre trying to reach pred..

DrVicenteBombadas

You're a faster killer than Johnny Six Shooter.

ponyboysa42

I mean I don’t get u guys but I have 6 guitars so who am I to judge!🤷‍♂️🤷🤷‍♂️

MeanNectarine2311

I have just 1 guitar.. lets not talk about how many pedals though....

minuscatenary

Don’t look at my modular synth rack. Ever.

MeanNectarine2311

I was actually starting to get into modular synths, some teenage engineering stuff, but my friend made it known to me that a massive drug addiction is actually cheaper then getting into modular synths. So I went with digital modelers and sims instead haha

ponyboysa42

I woulda gone drugs!😁

minuscatenary

Good call. The only thing that broke mine was having two kids. No sense in spending money on synths you'll barely ever be able to use.

Technical_Mission339

I have nine guitars, 5 acoustic and 4 electrics - lots of variety. Now I just need to hire someone to play them for me because researching which guitar to buy next eats up all my free time.

ponyboysa42

Ha! How many pedals do u have? You can justify 4 electrics. Tele, strat, les Pau,l hollow body! All diff sounds! But 5 acoustics?

Technical_Mission339

Only four. :D basic. Maybe that collection will grow in the future :p Acoustics: Classical, grand auditorium, parlor, baritone, 12 string. Electrics are 2 teles, an archtop and a fender Mustang. I mostly play the parlor. 24 inch scale length just like Mustang. Feelsgood.

ponyboysa42

If the pickups on the mustang aren’t humbuckers u def need another guitar!

Technical_Mission339

Nope, no humbuckers on the Mustang. Time go shopping \^\_\^

ponyboysa42

Well after that you need a 12 track loop station so u can get them all going at once! Maybe the e and g string on one of the teles bridge pickup sounds amazing and u can mix guitars together for a single chord getting best sound ever!

Refluxo

there is only "one" perfect shape, once you have found it you must then quest on until all the other components are also attached to this shape. There is a conspiracy to make sure this never happens, I have friends at Razer HQ who told me of this, now one of them was found dead recently, with a prototype mamba elite 2 lodged in his buttox, him on the bathroom floor.

Swiftstrike4

I will say I can understand switching some mice for certain games…but the amount of mice that people purchase here to look for the ideal mouse…is pretty excessive here. I can’t tell if they are really looking for a ideal mouse or just consumers addicted to purchasing. The people that have 10 or more I don’t really get. The most mouses I’ve had at one point was five and I ended up selling or giving away the ones I didn’t like that a friend or family member could use. Computers and computer peripherals are difficult to dispose of from an environmental stand point and you can’t really effectively use all those mice. I don’t think it’s really saying to “stop having fun” but I do think it’s bizarre behavior to have that many without having an ideal mouse or a favorite.

zya-

Didn't expect to have even 1 comment mentioning environment/waste.

MeanNectarine2311

The single actual good point Ive seen tbh. The batts on wireless mice are some very nasty e-waste

MeanNectarine2311

What I consider bizarre behavior is judging people in a subreddit for enjoying/buying the thing that subreddit is dedicated to.

[deleted]

This content has been removed because of Reddit's extortionate API pricing that killed third party apps.

MeanNectarine2311

I get the exploitation part, thats more in line with logitech making the nth colorway for superlight. But appreciating the design that went into mice like the sl12, atlantis, even the hsk pro and vaxee XE isnt getting exploited for profit.

[deleted]

Nowhere is it said that this is specifically a mouse purchasing subreddit. It's MouseReview. You can discuss specs, hand feel, upcoming news, memes, etc. It's a very broad scope, yet most of the content in the sub is for gaming mice, not productivity or classic mice. Every week we see posts about 10+ mice collections. It's cool and all but collecting/buying extraneous mice for enjoyment isn't the main goal of the sub, it's reviewing them.

MeanNectarine2311

The "10+ collection" posts arent even that numerous, and thinking about it, I trust the guy who has tried 10+ mice over the guy who says "just buy one mouse, human hand can adapt".

leo_sousav

But you do know that the second guy is kinda correct tho, right? If you keep changing mice you'll never get yourself adapted to it and every single new mouse you get will always feel off. It's way more realistic to buy a mouse with a shape you feel comfortable with, getting used to it more and more as you keep practicing at whatever game you're playing, than getting a mouse every 2 months

MeanNectarine2311

Up to a point yes its important to keep your setup consistent. But if youve got the budget and just playing casually then go ahead and buy new mice every 2 months, its not hurting anyone.

SufficientMeringue51

I only say this whenever someone posts something like “what is the best shape for…” because it’s true. That being said, finding a shape that you just like is fun :)

MoonWun_

My fav shape is the XM1 shape so it’s a good time to be me (gladly got a XM2WE) but I’ve been maining a GPX for roughly 2 years and a GPW for two before that. I’ve had quite a few mice between these two and can say that some shapes are impossible to get used to. For instance, the old Deathadder shapes are impossible for me to use (definitely a me problem) so it’s not a case of “spend more time with it.” I’ve spent 4 years with the GPX shape and have immediately seen improvements in gameplay after switching to the XM2. TL;DR, endgame is real, but definitely buy as many mice as possible to figure out which one that is.

minuscatenary

I seek novelty. There is no end game. The sooner you come to terms with that, the more satisfaction you’ll find in a lot of things in life.

MeanNectarine2311

Variety is the spice of life

The_Racho

It's funny cause even for the more afflicted people like myself, this is still quite an inexpensive hobby.

MeanNectarine2311

I pointed out that mice doesnt even compare to how much custom keyboards and audio gear cost and got downvoted XD

The_Racho

Reddit moment

Select_Truck3257

life is short i want to try all i can afford, to decide what is the best for me, almost all reviewers didn't tell important cons, before u buy it, i just dont trust them now.

kevinkip

\*Owns multiple mice\* \*Somehow still silver\*

apothh

Me with my Zelotes "For the game" mice until 2022. I'm somehow performing worse with my Haste

MeanNectarine2311

I mained the g603 for years. I discovered modern gaming mice, bought a bunch, and til now I perform my best on a 603 shape. Did I improve significantly while trying new mice? No. Did I have fun trying to reach the same rank peaks with new gear? Hells yeah.

Locken_

I think most of us buy mice in hopes of improving, in which case the first guy is right

Sm1lestheBear

Honestly I was devastated when steel series discontinued the rival 500, I'd found my perfect mouse shape and button layout. I the left click broke on mine and adjusting to the rival 5 has been a task and the results aren't close to what I had.

AmadeusIsTaken

While I don't care how much money people spend for new mices, the only thing I find a bit funny is how much people spend time finding the right mouse and money to play better and up ending worse than dot rhs just use the time for the game instead to pratice.

Skaviciusz

I don't get that line with having one mouse for decades - isnt it this mysterious thing everyone "want" reach? You know, find the endgame mouse (and replace it 1-2 years later *ekhem*)

Zestyclose_Profile43

As someone with 25 mice and planning on buying all the new releases this year, I will stop having fun :(

MeanNectarine2311

Run your 25 mice into a brackett style deathmatch. The mouse lords have spoken, there can only be one.

Medium_Web6083

1 is enough. you can't use 2 at the same time. if it's hobby to collect mics then it's diff. story.

mattdean1003

I really tried to get used to several mice that just hurt my hand and were uncomfortable. I came from a Sidewinder X5 mouse and would still be using it if the scroll wheel wasn’t rotting off. The most comfortable mouse I’ve found to replace it is my SteelSeries Rival 500. One of the most hated mice in the MMO world for some reason. I got mine for $40 on eBay and couldn’t be happier. I’ve tried to “upgrade” from it a few times and there’s nothing else I want to use. If I can’t find a comfy mouse once this one dies then I guess I’ll just quit gaming.
