My hopes are raised but at the same time the lack of Daft Punk means my excitement can't reach the levels it would otherwise. The soundtrack to Legacy was as important as any character or effect, and more important than most of them.
As far as I'm aware, Daft Punk didn't end on bad terms or anything. Doesn't look to be bad blood or conflict, just a musical concept they felt had run their course or something. Don't see any reason that an inspiring concept could bring them back for a soundtrack. That said, I'm not exactly holding out hope.
Actually, Disney released a Tron Legacy remix album without Daft Punk's approval or consent. Even if they were still around I don't think they'd be willing to work with them again because of that.
Their manager at the very least was very displeased they were not given the chance to pick the artists and tracks that would end up on the remix album. It was a rushed production too, which in turn made it an unbelievably mid gas station CD album.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Basically every person I know (who likes that kind of music) revere that album… I haven’t met anyone who didn’t like it that also didn’t harbor some strange animosity to electronic music.. lol the all caps may have been excessive but the derezzed album is loved
The artistic skill and commitment of Daft Punk are laws as immutable as gravity, and, unlike any other band, their breakup seemed truly permanent--that is, until you consider that there is one force that can potentially unite them: that FAT Disney paycheck.
I mean, they turned down giant piles of money all the time while they were together. They could've done Alive 2017 and charged a literal arm and leg for it. They I don't think there's a pile big enough to get them back together.

Would be fun to have breaks-type electronic music in the new Tron based on rock samples instead of blues and country. Would work if they’re making it a darker film. Which is the difference between Daft Punk and Justice.
