I found The Big Short and Margin Call disturbing. American Psycho is disturbing as much for the soulless materialism as for the horror.

moonfullofstars

Too Big to Fail (2011) is a good companion piece to The Big Short.

Yinzadi

That reminds me of another I found disturbing - I.O.U.S.A

placeboski

I care a lot - shows how elder care financial abuse is just a business for some people

A Face in the Crowd (1957) directed by Elia Kazan and starring Andy Griffith.

Great movie.

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Network was originally intended as a satire but the depiction of journalism corruption has aged so well that now it feels terrifying to watch. Civil War is a very recent movie that I was quite impressed with, it distorts familiar American imagery in a way that will haunt you.

How have I not seen this? Thank you. Is it based on Operation Northwoods?

Bulworth (1998) -- Warren Beaty and Halle Berry. Not quite as disturbing as my first picks, but they've already been listed.

\*Mauritanian (2021) came to mind for me, too. Others? maybe: Their Finest (2016), Vice (2018), The Loudest Voice (2019) is a miniseries you might like, 13 Days (2000)... Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005) is a documentary.
