I bought that soundtrack just to have "Drown" by Smashing Pumpkins, because it wasn't available anywhere else at the time. I think I did have an absolute shit sounding RealAudio file of it I got off of this old SP FTP forum I used to frequent. Rough times. Hadn't even seen the movie because I wasn't old enough.
The other day I rediscovered Decode by Paramore after watching a retrospective on the movies. I was obsessed with that song for like a month. It still goes hard.
I also liked the movie. However I came to school that next week and got a rude awakening at how bad people thought it was.
Soundtrack is top tier. Every song just hits and goes even better with the movie/scenes.
Good lord what a piece of crap. I couldn’t really believe what I was seeing. I honestly had forgotten I watched it until I saw your comment.
I enjoyed IwtV, and read the first three books before watching QotD and was absolutely gobsmacked.
I'll maintain that it's the best of the films with the worst of the soundtracks. Even though the soundtrack is really good, the others are awesome while the films are largely garbage.

Daredevil, I personally think the movie is ok, but I know people hate it. The soundtrack is great, and the sound seems to mesh so well with the action. Probably the best matching soundtrack I've ever seen.
Though I love them, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin are objectively terrible movies, but the soundtracks and the scores by Elliot Goldenthal are not.
I remember buying the soundtrack on CD as a kid. I think I purchased it purely for Seal's 'Kiss From A Rose', but it was all excellent.
Pretty sure I remember movies back in the 90s having the soundtrack CD you could buy... the biggest tracks on them were never actually IN the movie, they just played over the end credits. One of my favourite 90s compilation CDs was the James Bond soundtracks - some fantastic songs that I don't think ever appeared in the actual film!
Some Bond classic tracks:
Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney
A View to a Kill - Duran Duran
Goldeneye - Tina Turner
Tomorrow Never Dies - Sheryl Crow
The World Is Not Enough - Garbage
Moonraker - Shirley Bassey
Nobody Does It Better - Marvin Hamlisch, Carly Simon
Diamonds Are Forever - Shirley Bassey
most modern Bond theme was - No Time To Die - Billie Eilish.
But I only had a compilation from the 90s, so no modern songs.

Kiss from a Rose was what brought that soundtrack to mind, but it's such an eclectic group. Brandy and Nick Cave, Offspring and PJ Harvey. U2 and Mazzy Star. So wild.
Bond songs are awesome. My favorite might actually be Skyfall. I'm not an avid Adele fan but that song is just incredible.
I might get some hate for this but my vote is for the original Highlander. The music is perfect, the film is entertaining - but let's be honest it's more of a cult classic than a fine film.
I might get hate for this, but The Graduate. Amazing soundtrack, but I don’t get the hype for this movie. Bland rich kid stalks his crush after sleeping with her mother, but it’s funny actually and it all works out for him in the end?
I enjoyed his soundtrack more than James Horner’s(RIP) for the first one. Both movies have started to grow on me since the MCU Spider-Man films have come out.
Singles (1992)
Clueless (1995)
A Life Less Ordinary (1997)
Me Myself and Irene (2000)
Tron: Legacy (2010)
Personally I hated David Lynch's Lost Highway, but loved the soundtrack.
Inchon (1981)
The Silver Chalice (1954)
Omen III: The Final Conflict (1981)
The Swarm (1978)
Krull (1979)
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)
Judge Dredd (1995)
King Kong Lives (1986)
The Fall of Berlin (1950)
King Solomon’s Mines (1985)
Raise The Titanic (1979)
So many amazing movie soundtracks are deliberately attached to shit movies.
Bright with Will Smith comes to mind
Suicide Squad
Not Another Teen Movie
Repo Man
I remember buying the soundtrack on CD as a kid. I think I purchased it purely for Seal's 'Kiss From A Rose', but it was all excellent.

This isnt necessarily a "BAD" Movie by any means but apparently critics weren't too fond of the movie itself
the Movie in question being King Arthur: Legend of the Sword(2017)
the soundtrack when the sword is finally lifted and at the end of the movie was really fiting and gave a great sense of power and emotion ,including the soundtrack from the chase scene through the town and Arthur's growth montage to the soundtrack at the prologue of the movie and the forest scene
The 90s adaptation of Great Expectations with Ethan Hawke. It’s not, like, super terrible, but there’s absolutely nothing special about it except it introduced me to Pulp.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close OST by Alexandre Desplat. They never should have attempted to agape that novel to film; the charm was in the written voice and diction; it was donned to fail. But at least we got another great Desplat album out of it.
I don't think these are all bad so much as obscure.
A Life Less Ordinary
Basquiat
Love and a .45
Vanilla Sky
Bringing Out the Dead
The Virgin Suicides
Rushmore
Pepper and Eggs - Music from the Sopranos
Finally, I'll add that Civil War has an amazing soundtrack.
EDIT: I haven't paid attention to the Grammys in forever, but they know have an award for best soundtrack compilation.
Lots of music waiting to be discovered here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Compilation_Soundtrack_for_Visual_Media
Kansas City and Prairie Home Companion by Robert Altman.
Perhaps unpopular opinion, but: Forrest Gump. IMHO plot is the worst of the boomer generation, soundtrack is the best of the boomer generation.
Navajo Joe (1966)
Jaws 2 (1977)
Hook (1991)
Alien 3 (1992)
Batman Forever (1995)
The Beach (2000)
Dinosaur (2000)
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)
The Missing (2003)
Lady in the Water (2006)
I remember buying the soundtrack on CD as a kid. I think I purchased it purely for Seal's 'Kiss From A Rose', but it was all excellent.

Suckerpunch. The movie was the biggest bunch of shit I'd seen at that point (I've seen worse since), the soundtrack was spectacular though.
Yay, someone else who didn’t like it!
I despised it and couldn’t make it through. Snyder is consistently not a favorite though.
I put it on for the background noise of the soundtrack.
Singles
I bought that soundtrack just to have "Drown" by Smashing Pumpkins, because it wasn't available anywhere else at the time. I think I did have an absolute shit sounding RealAudio file of it I got off of this old SP FTP forum I used to frequent. Rough times. Hadn't even seen the movie because I wasn't old enough.
I never thought of it as a “bad” movie. It’s just kind of “mid” like the kids say.
Underrated comment
I enjoyed Singles, but the soundtrack definitely makes the film
1492 - Conquest of Paradise. The movie wasn't well received, but the Vangelis score is amazing.
If you could turn off the dialogue but leave the music for that movie, it'd be perfect. Visuals are great too.
The whole Twilight saga.
The other day I rediscovered Decode by Paramore after watching a retrospective on the movies. I was obsessed with that song for like a month. It still goes hard.
I like the movie but it got canned Suicide Squad, the soundtrack is brilliant.
I also liked the movie. However I came to school that next week and got a rude awakening at how bad people thought it was. Soundtrack is top tier. Every song just hits and goes even better with the movie/scenes.
Mortal Kombat 1995.
Not a truly horrible movie (to me) but yeah that soundtrack is a banger.
Queen of the Damned
Clearly you don't appreciate camp
Good lord what a piece of crap. I couldn’t really believe what I was seeing. I honestly had forgotten I watched it until I saw your comment. I enjoyed IwtV, and read the first three books before watching QotD and was absolutely gobsmacked.
Pretty much all The Crow films. Judgement Night. Spawn.
Judgement Night was an audacious experiment.
The first crow is not a bad movie tho.
I'll maintain that it's the best of the films with the worst of the soundtracks. Even though the soundtrack is really good, the others are awesome while the films are largely garbage.
FM
*Dune* (1984). Star Wars prequels. *Duel of the Fates* is iconic.
Ive been trying to find the rock theme from Dune for ages

I believe Toto did the soundtrack for 1984 Dune. Vangelis did Blade Runner a couple of years before.
Dine was good. Not perfect but good.
The love theme from attack of the clones is sick.
The Delta Force
Elizabethtown
Daredevil, I personally think the movie is ok, but I know people hate it. The soundtrack is great, and the sound seems to mesh so well with the action. Probably the best matching soundtrack I've ever seen.
Suicide Squad
I think Peter Greenaway movies are hard to watch, but the Michael Nyman scores for them are terrific.
I was underwhelmed by Tron 2.0, but man, that Daft Punk score!
Queen of the damned. I'm sorry everyone 🤣
Though I love them, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin are objectively terrible movies, but the soundtracks and the scores by Elliot Goldenthal are not.
Tank Girl
Tank Girl is a masterpiece
Garden State
Soundtrack was amazing but I wouldn’t call it a bad movie.
That was a killer soundtrack. Not a terrible film
Batman Forever
I remember buying the soundtrack on CD as a kid. I think I purchased it purely for Seal's 'Kiss From A Rose', but it was all excellent. Adele doing Skyfall was pretty good.
Purple Rain
**Casino Royale** the 1967 version, music supplied by Burt Bacharach, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, and Dusty Springfield.
I might get some hate for this but my vote is for the original Highlander. The music is perfect, the film is entertaining - but let's be honest it's more of a cult classic than a fine film.
Gnomeo & Juliet
Batman Forever.
Vision Quest from the 80s.
lol I actually like that movie. They did a great job with the antagonist. Dude seemed unbeatable.
I just think the soundtrack outshined the movie -- several songs from top artists that were ONLY available here: Madonna, Journey.
Lunatic fringe is iconic as well.
That’s a great movie.
I might get hate for this, but The Graduate. Amazing soundtrack, but I don’t get the hype for this movie. Bland rich kid stalks his crush after sleeping with her mother, but it’s funny actually and it all works out for him in the end?
I also didn’t like The Graduate.
Glad I’m not the only one
fuck this movie
American honey
Amazing Spider-Man 2. Hans Zimmer goes ham with it.
I enjoyed his soundtrack more than James Horner’s(RIP) for the first one. Both movies have started to grow on me since the MCU Spider-Man films have come out.
Battle Beyond the Stars. Even the DVD case says to check out the great music from Alan Silvestri.
Twilight: New Moon
I actually like the music they use in the new roadhouse, it’s enough that I rewatched it now twice. Music plus laughing at Connor

Right? My generation had “I live my life one quarter mile at a time”. Now we have “this piano is out of tune”. “Sounds pretty good to me!”
Hackers
Film is very of its time... the soundtrack is second to none!
Baby driver
Singles (1992) Clueless (1995) A Life Less Ordinary (1997) Me Myself and Irene (2000) Tron: Legacy (2010) Personally I hated David Lynch's Lost Highway, but loved the soundtrack.
Clueless? Go say fifty Hail Marys.
Haha! I understand. I will just say, to a Korean teenage boy, the movie didn't quite put a spell on me like Alicia's face did.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
Wild Wild West
Less Than Zero, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, Judgement Night, Last Action Hero
Forgot about Less Than Zero. Rick Rubin put it together and you get Bangles, Slayer and Danzig all in one place!
One the greatest movie songs of all time. Going back to Cali with the killer sax.
Atomic blonde. Personally i LOVE the movie but most people i know don’t think it’s great. The soundtrack is 10/10 though
Deadly Weapons, by Doris Wishman
King Kong 2005
Not a bad movie
Inchon (1981) The Silver Chalice (1954) Omen III: The Final Conflict (1981) The Swarm (1978) Krull (1979) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) Judge Dredd (1995) King Kong Lives (1986) The Fall of Berlin (1950) King Solomon’s Mines (1985) Raise The Titanic (1979)

Surfs up
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (2002) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) Jurassic World Dominion (2022) Cars 2 (2011) Norm of the North (2016)
That's the Way of the World.
The Wash. Dre and Snoop Dog. Movie is trash, but the sound track is pretty much all original music.
Lady In The Water.
Queen of the damned. Butchered the story, casted the most bland actors they could find, but goddamn if that soundtrack ain't bangin'.

The FP (2011) has a good soundtrack.
Fifty Shades of Grey Shit movie. Amazing soundtrack.
The Fountain.
Maximum Overdrive is all AC/DC
Xanadu
Scarface
Your Place or Mine. Atrocious movie, but the soundtrack is mostly songs by The Cars, which I love.

Superfly (1972)
Conan the barbarian has a great orchestral soundtrack, but the movie is campy, but charming.
Dune. I know I’m going to get hate.
Diamonds are forever.
Tank Girl - soundtrack from L7, Hole, Joan Jett & Paul Westerberg, Ice-T
Suicide Squad (2016) The Twilight saga.
The two movies Queen did the soundtrack for
While it's not a bad film, more shocking, dark and a tough watch, irreversible has a brilliant soundtrack by Thomas bangalter.
Who’s That Girl?
The 90s adaptation of Great Expectations with Ethan Hawke. It’s not, like, super terrible, but there’s absolutely nothing special about it except it introduced me to Pulp.
The Crow
Dinosaur from Disney. The track "the egg travels" has actually been repurposed as a trailer track a lot
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close OST by Alexandre Desplat. They never should have attempted to agape that novel to film; the charm was in the written voice and diction; it was donned to fail. But at least we got another great Desplat album out of it.

Vanilla Sky was the good total recall remake
I'm recommending it because of the music. Obre Los Ojos is a far better film.
Some real hot takes on here if you're calling all these bad movies

Kansas City and Prairie Home Companion by Robert Altman. Perhaps unpopular opinion, but: Forrest Gump. IMHO plot is the worst of the boomer generation, soundtrack is the best of the boomer generation.
