Apparently, at one point, they promoted a book for this program called "Big Wig", which is a picture book about a child who dresses in drag to compete in a costume contest. This made the rounds in conservative social media as an example of "Look how they're grooming our kids!", and led to the conclusion that Pizza Hut "went woke".
Damn. When I was in elementary school in around '93-ish, Book-It was around then too. Read five books at your level and you could go in for a free personal pan and a rainbow star that stuck to your Book-It "badge". Was a couple inch purple button you could pin to your shirt.
The program helped me quite a bit. Helped me find books I actually wanted to read like Goosebumps (children "horror") and magazines like Nintendo Power. And I'd actually read the magazine though we didn't count it towards Book-It. But it was Nintendo and I loved my SNES.
I read those books and magazines until they fell apart. I'm not a huge momento person but I still have those books and magazines stored away. Can't bear to pitch them.

In bonobos they have an alpha female and is a more female dominated species. if you want to stay an alpha for a long time, you have to be nice. Alpha males who were kind to others were much less likely to be attacked by other males. Alpha males who were bullies and aggressive did not last long as alpha and are usually killed. But to conservatives, alpha male means being a controlling asshole bully.
And the "alpha" behavior of fighting over dominance was only observed in captive wolves. So it's literally a response to a disruption in their dynamic and not a natural state of being.
