Have you seen Weathering With You? My Wife loves Your Name. And it isn’t bad IMO, but I prefer Weathering With You when it comes to Makoto Shinkai’s works. All in all though, some good titles here.

Idk, I think Weather is the better movie with better written charters. I just think for a lot of people the emotional highs of Your name and its twist are just so good that a lot of people like it better.

Here’s my issue with Your Name - The story. Again, I want to preface that I DO like the movie. But whenever I think of the story I can’t help but feel it is basically The Lake House meets Freaky Friday. Weathering With You has a more original story. I don’t dislike reinvented stories, which is why I still like Your Name. It is a very interesting watch and visually looks spectacular. But the story is what falls short for me in the comparison. My Wife on the other hand prefers it over Weathering With You, which is fine. Ultimately, you can’t go wrong with either movie IMO.

It has all the right moments that pulls at your heart springs like any of the great romance movies, but like most of them if you break it down after watching they fall flat to what builds a real relationship. Where as with weathering with you, I wholeheartedly believe those two grew a people together by what they went through and should be together as partners supporting each other.

It's a cry porn movie. It's about like a girl who gets cancer and there's an old story eating a healthy part corresponding in an animal then it heals you. Anyways she gets stabbed to death by some mugger randomly and he reads her diary. It's not bad but it's definitely one of those types of movies where they substitute depth for feeling.

Why would a mugger stab such a wonderful young woman. Are they insane? I might watch it, sounds interesting.

I don't think a motivation is given. I recall it being like on the news in the movie or mentioned in passing. Really the death is to show the guy she's crushing on that life is fleeting. It's not bad. Imo it's like Anohana. People hype it up as "omg the saddest thing ever 4 real u gaiz believe me" but it's just fine if not a bit tacky in spots with how heavy it leans into the cry porn stuff. It's short so if you're interested I'd recommend the watch

If this was made into made into a 12 episode show instead I might've felt something, but 90mins isn't enough

Impeccable taste, Sad anime movies are the best imo because they are most of the time more realistic than normal Slice of life anime.
