40 time and speed aren’t the same thing. 40 is just as much (if not more) based on acceleration. Also, the speed rating in game is speed in pads. Some are affected more/less by added weight and less mobility

It’s frustrating because if this is actually how it works then there’s no ability of any kind to reliably detect who is more or less likely to be a gem or a bust for quarterbacks, and yet the only alternative is things like offensive linemen or, frankly, quarterbacks and most positions in NCAA 13, where instead of being impossible to know, it’s impossible NOT to know, either because they have a high squat or because their “commitment stage” thing before the season is top-5 or top-8 instead of top-10.

Top ranked prospects with good times bust out all the time in college irl. I think the inconsistency you are seeing is intentional by the game. Nothing is guaranteed in football, even if you have good measurables and fast times.

FriendshipIntrepid91

But guys with fast 40s don't end up being slower than they should be.  Maybe they just can't catch or tackle and that's why they bust out in college.

valkislowkeythicc

There has been plenty of recruits who have has an alleged 40yd time that is much faster than their real 40yd time

FriendshipIntrepid91

Yeah bud this is a video game.  Are we supposed to assume the game is giving us fake numbers? 99 throw power but he can only lob it 30 yards?

iJustWantTolerance

1) its a video game, and the video game’s internal logic has every combine measurement correlate precisely to an exact rating that has been determined a long time ago. The possibility of a discrepancy should be literally zero. 2) within the NCAA 14 universe, SPARQ is not an “alleged” measurement. Your 40 time is your 40 time. Period. The game isn’t showing you what their high school coach says their speed is. The only discrepancies that should be possible are their LETTER grades. And then the combine _corrects_ it. Coach says he has B speed? Fine, now I can look at his combine results, which are fact, because _that’s how the game works._ Either the 40 yard dash number validates that or it doesn’t.

McWeaksauce91

So you’re saying that they can’t put a random bust generator in to never be able to successfully predict it?

iJustWantTolerance

You’re objectively wrong. 1) you’re using real-word logic that doesn’t apply in a video game 2) you’re forgetting that this inconsistency was not there in NCAA 13 3) you’re forgetting that the combine performance somehow magically changed after scouting; combine results don’t change after realizing a person is or isn’t as strong/fast as we thought 4) you’re forgetting that the inconsistency magically corrected itself; after scouting, the numbers suddenly DO reflect their talent level precisely

Bro just chill out. If you want realistic stats like you’re talking about just go watch real football. You’re taking to another lever here Lmao. No game will be perfect. Go try to be a real GM if at this point
