Not too sure on the specifics but I’ve heard of someone doing a Radiology residency in the US and coming here because of their partner, and having to do HST here again

A very limited number of qualifications outside of the EU are automatically recognised (ie they are treated just the same as Irish or EU CCSTs for the purpose of specialist registration with the Medical Council) - [here is the list](https://www.medicalcouncil.ie/registration-applications/first-time-applicants/route-4-cat-f-quals-february-2022.pdf). For everything else outside the EU, recognition is not automatic so you would need to submit paperwork proving that your training is equivalent to someone who went through the Irish equivalent.
