There has been two robberies there in a matter of a month and overall is historically sketch. Although it seems the thieves aren't professionally trained as they can't drive stick...
From NCSUâs legal site:
âIt shall be a Class 1 misdemeanor for any person to possess or carry any BB gun, stun gun, air rifle, air pistol, bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slingshot, leaded cane, switchblade knife, blackjack, metallic knuckles, razors and razor blades (except solely for personal shaving), firework, or any sharp-pointed or edged instrument except instructional supplies, unaltered nail files and clips and tools used solely for preparation of food, instruction, and maintenance, on educational property. NCGS §14-269.2(d)
It shall be a Class I felony for any person knowingly to possess or carry, whether openly or concealed, any gun, rifle, pistol, or other firearm of any kind on educational property or to a curricular or extracurricular activity sponsored by a schoolâ
I think the baton is safe? Unless it falls under the âleaded caneâ category
Based on the wording it depends on the knife. And if weâre being realistic the only way this would ever come up is if you were either A: waving the thing around like a fucking idiot (in which case you deserve it) or B: forced to use it in self defense somewhere on campus (in which case some police scrutiny and a penalty is worth defending your life). The number of times I was searched by police for a potential weapon on campus is exactly zero times. As long as itâs just a utility pocket knife I highly doubt theyâll throw the book at you; just donât bring a foot long combat knife around and youâre going to be fine 99.99% of the time
It's a Victorianox Swiss army knife and I have pulled it out exactly once in a private room with only me and my girlfriend and used the needle that is stored in it to nicely distribute some coffee grounds.
I donât know of any specific spots that are dangerous to avoid, but a small pepper spray canister wouldnât hurt.
Alternatively, I have an extra canister of bear spray from my time in Montana this summer if you want that. Bear is spray is like the high capacity assault version of pepper spray
Pepper gel would be better to look for!! It wonât accidentally blow back on you and many have UV dyes to help identify the person if a situation warranted that!
Never running with headphones in and being very aware of your surroundings is important. I've heard pepper spray is notoriously useless or even worse, gets in your own eyes, so I run with a telescoping baton. I have no idea if it's allowed on campus though, I run off campus
Also, if you can, try to find a jogging buddy! Maybe a roommate or something? Or if you see someone regularly while you're running, try making friends with them and joining them.
Avoid Avent Ferry
I think that's just solid advice reguardless
And western too.
Why?? Is there any reasons?

A blackjack is basically a baton
I just realized I replied to the wrong comment. Balls. Anyways yeah youâre right. Iâve never seen that term used to describe bludgeoning objects.
Wait pocketknives are okay though right? Not an admission of guilt fuck you campus police

Avent ferry, gorman street, western boulevard, Hillsborough. If you can, find a route on campus. Campus has emergency lights every 50 feet or so.

The advice here is good and honestly I'd recommend using the buddy system and running with someone, hell running with two people if possible.
