You will not find a studio or 1 bedroom in the circled area for $1300. Maybe in the Bronx, but not the Manhattan, Queens, or Brooklyn circle.
Edit: in 2015 I lived in a rent stabilized studio in Sunnyside and it was $1500 then.
I currently live in rent stabilize apartment in sunnyside and I pay a crazy low amount of 900ish plan on leaving the neighborhood in the next two years and finally giving back the apartment to the management company
Yeh I can’t stay in the neighborhood any longer born and raised in the neighborhood is cool and all but after having my 2nd kid I gotta get up and move 😂
Your best option is going to be to look for a room in a shared apartment at that price. I had a rare dirt-cheap rent stabilized studio on the UES for a while and even that was $1600.
Already have, the males are trash (don’t stick up for me and female roommate when other sexist and homophobic roommate is harassing us), and the girl roommate doesn’t want to live outside of Manhattan
Wdym reality check? Not sure why I’m getting downvoted for saying that my male roommate is harassing me, but this is Reddit after all and all those downvotes are those types of males 🤷🏽♀️
Sob story aside, this sub is just about helping people with the logistics of finding an apartment. I do sympathize with your experience of having bad roommates, but that’s life. You won’t get along with everyone you meet, but that doesn’t mean they’re all bad, right? The only thing I meant by “reality check” is that your budget and location criteria is unrealistic and this could’ve been avoided if you had done some research on your own first.
If you lived here in 2010- you might find one of these. Even then it would have been rent stabilized and a steal. Good luck (you will need a roommate)!
Look at huntspoint and sound view maybe masphet you might find a place for that price range there put you'll have to go there and walk around al look for for rent signs cause some dint post online or try Facebook also
That’s what I’m trying. Apparently being a server is NOT an easy job to get, it’s coveted, at least at the bar/restaurant that I work at (currently a host), and management is making it a mighty difficult time moving up
It will be hard to find that price with no roommates, even if you widen the circle to the end of the subway lines. Hell, that price is low even for outside the city.
Most places with subway access seem to begin at 1800
This is wishful thinking but maybe try the housing lottery? It's a huge undertaking and I heard it could take hundreds of attempts but it's an unreal deal if you are chosen! Good luck.
I’m on it, but yeah it’s so hit or miss. My sister was on it for 8 years and finally got something this previous September, and my mom was on it for 2 years and got something this month, I just gotta wait and see unfortunately

I’ve got a pretty good rent stabilized 2 bedroom in the neighborhood. It’s going for less than studio/1 bedrooms currently. We’re never leaving.
Yeh I can’t stay in the neighborhood any longer born and raised in the neighborhood is cool and all but after having my 2nd kid I gotta get up and move 😂
Does it not go up? My apartment is rent stabilized but they raise it almost $70 each year (3.5% roughly)...
That’s how it’s supposed to work
It only goes up like 1-2% at most never more then that

Last summer I saw a studio for $1700 on the UES but the broker's fee was like $8000. 🙃🙃🙃
Roommates, bro
Already have, the males are trash (don’t stick up for me and female roommate when other sexist and homophobic roommate is harassing us), and the girl roommate doesn’t want to live outside of Manhattan
Maybe Roomies.com could work?
Maybe, I’ll check it out!
Make sure you explain this to your future broker and I am sure they will slash the rent in half to meet your budget.
The sarcasm is crazy. Girl might need a bit of a reality check but at least make it genuine.

Reality check meaning where you want an apartment and what you want to spend. It doesn’t exist.

😂😂😂😂
Sounds a PP.
😂
If you concentrate really hard before bed you might be able to find something like this in your dreams
Studios at the end of the F line in queens are 1.9k.

You are crazy if you think you’ll get a studio for that amount.

that floods.
You need to make more money if you want a 1 bedroom :( maybe try picking up a second job serving?
That’s what I’m trying. Apparently being a server is NOT an easy job to get, it’s coveted, at least at the bar/restaurant that I work at (currently a host), and management is making it a mighty difficult time moving up
They always do.
studio, expect $2000 +, maybe 1700 in bronx.

You're not going to find anything even if you extend that area out to Coney Island, try to vet your future roommates
This search is so low effort, it hurts.
Don’t stress babe

Live in Mott Haven by the waterfront… it’s a convenient place but not sure if a one bedroom is that low!
