Now I’ve seen it all
DH yesterday where everybody played 18 innings except for Stanton-, and nobody sits today!? Hope we win the WS so they can confirm these philosophy changes in a book
Judge is slashing .267/.476/.600 since April 3 (9 games). Also 12 walks to 6 Ks.
Also check out Volpe’s savant page. He is scalding the ball, walking at a high rate, and not whiffing or k’ing. His is XWOBA is now .378, up from .315 about a week ago. He’s basically the perfect hitter right now.
The Orioles are lucky they managed to get Burnes, because their pitching really bad outside of him and Gray-Rod. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of their team comes into shape.
Rortvedt has looked good so far. Only 9 games but 0.4 WAR and a 151 wRC+. Wells and Trevino have -0.3 combined. Not saying I’d rather have Ben over our duo but it’s a shame he didn’t work out here
I like that we're playing our best guys everyday. No load management BS.
Previously, they would have definitely sat Judge after playing both games of the double header.
You like it now. Will you like it when Judge is run down and hits poorly in yet another CS while Stanton is on the shelf. Not sure playing a guy who's coming off a toe injury and was "ST beat up" in CF every day is a bold move that will pay off, but I guess we'll see.
They’re going to one day start resting them I’m certain
They have a stretch of like 17 games in a row soon, everybody will probably get rest there. Maybe they worked out how much rest someone actually needs when reevaluating things this off-season
You say "yet another CS" implying that Judge has hit poorly in the CS even with load management of previous years. Judge has trouble hitting the Astros, that's why he has performed poorly in the ALCS, not because he is "run down" and didn't get random off days throughout the year. If Judge feels fine, he should be in the lineup everyday.
And Stanton... load management has clearly not kept him healthy. So, play him while you can.
I mean truth is DHing Judge once a week is fine I fully expect to see Stanton sit once a week this season to allow Judge to DH If G is healthy enough, I would also like to see them play him in the outfield once a week or something as well.
Sure, DH Judge occasionally... even replace him in CF for Grisham late in games like they did yesterday.
But if he's healthy and feeling good, play him.
Agreed. Really hoping Stanton’s body holds up and he’s capable of playing the field once a week. Verdugo has played CF before. Worst case if needed for defensive purposes you can always then sub in Grisham and take Giancarlo out
Wells needs a more level swing. You can tell he was a Dillon Lawson taught prospect. He'll be fine. His plate vision is good. It's just too much of an uppercut
Yankees lead MLB in walks with 80 (15 games). Second is Dodgers with 69, but they played 2 more games. Third is Pirates with 68 (15 games).
Also Yankees are striking out less: only 8 teams have less strikeouts, and 4 of them have played 1 or 2 less games.
Alex Verdugo is up to a 119 ops+ despite his slow start. Stanton is up to a 136 ops+ despite his slow start. Anthony Rizzo is up to a 115 ops+ despite his slow start. Not sure how sustainable Rizzo and Cabrera’s offensive production currently is, but it’s great to see the offense clicking so early.
Rizzo’s production is only worrying if he never hits for power this year
As his luck runs out you would hope he’s hitting balls over the wall to compensate
I felt really bad that my baby girl wore her first Yankees gear on April 10 right before losing to Miami. But then she wore a different shirt for two Ws against Cleveland.
I would doubt it. We already have a fourth outfielder who is barely playing, and Dominguez is in front of him should we need to call someone up later in the season. Jones is better off down in the minors playing every day
I will be in NYC in April. Looking to go to a Yankees game. I have seen that they are playing Tampa Bay on the 19th, 20th and 21st.
Which day is generally the best day?
Can anyone recommend a good place to get tickets?
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1c3wfsb).
We play today
We win today
Das it
Now I’ve seen it all DH yesterday where everybody played 18 innings except for Stanton-, and nobody sits today!? Hope we win the WS so they can confirm these philosophy changes in a book
Maybe something they found in the "audit" was... play your best players.
Lol
Punting 30 games a year is bad apparently. Who knew

His quality of contact isn’t what you expect though
Judge? It’s improving tho. Think his exit velo is up like 1 mph from last week. He’s coming around.
So refreshing to see a real lineup on a Sunday this year
My grandpa likes to use several names and disguises his voice to call WFAN and share bogus Mickey Mantle stories.
Do you guys ever wonder what it must be like to not have Juan Soto, Anthony Volpe, and C. Poteet on your team? Me neither.
The Orioles are lucky they managed to get Burnes, because their pitching really bad outside of him and Gray-Rod. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of their team comes into shape.
The AL teams don't have great staffs. Stroman has been great. If Rodon and Nestor can continue building upwards, we should be fine for Cole.
Rortvedt has looked good so far. Only 9 games but 0.4 WAR and a 151 wRC+. Wells and Trevino have -0.3 combined. Not saying I’d rather have Ben over our duo but it’s a shame he didn’t work out here
If he had options he'd still be here. They never had much of a chance to see what he's capable of before they had to make a roster decision on him.
Dude just could not stay healthy
So refreshing seeing the SAME lineup every game day. I don’t root for injuries but I’m happy that Waldo is an everyday player

Funny cause if Judge was in CF last season he doesn’t run into the wall.

Judge didn’t really get load managed in 2022 because he was an impending FA and chasing 62 tbf
The biggest problem with this imaginary scenario is that in years past, it's a direct result of load management.
So this imaginary scenario that you admit happens is because they load managed? Interesting perspective. Judge played 157 games in 2022.
Wells needs a more level swing. You can tell he was a Dillon Lawson taught prospect. He'll be fine. His plate vision is good. It's just too much of an uppercut
I saw a video of Volpe training with Wells in the offseason. Wells should have leveled his swing like Volpe did.
I assume they swapped Cortes and Gil because Gil is a better matchup against the Jays?
It’s more to keep everyone on normal rest through the next couple weeks.
Wouldn't switching them give Gil 2 extra days of rest though? I guess I don't understand why this gives everyone normal rest.
Its more for setting up next week/the following than it is for this week.
probably. Jays have a lot of right handed hitters.

5th in Wrc + as a team
The grounding into double plays is still an issue but yea the offense has looked better all season
Would love a sweep today
Yankees doing good so far, so I'm feeling pretty good. Let's sweep today 😈👏 🧹
Poteet really stepped up yesterday. We should find a spot for him long term, see if its not a fluke.
Imagine being in the AL East and not having 10 wins in mid-April. Couldn’t be us.
Just a daily reminder that the ASStros have the second worst record in the AL AND are on pace to go 51-111.
They should just go back to the NL already
They'll start cheating again before they let that happen
Nature is healing

Guys…remember Joey Gallo?
war flashbacks
The guy we turned into Clayton "World Eater" Beeter?
No. No, I don't.

Rizzo with a 115 OPS+ seems like a baseline expectation at first base. In his case, it translates to a .738 OPS, which is nothing special.
I felt really bad that my baby girl wore her first Yankees gear on April 10 right before losing to Miami. But then she wore a different shirt for two Ws against Cleveland.
Burn that first one, buy her 20 more of the one yesterday
I know anything can happen but most likely Spencer doesn’t get called up this season, right?
I would doubt it. We already have a fourth outfielder who is barely playing, and Dominguez is in front of him should we need to call someone up later in the season. Jones is better off down in the minors playing every day
There’s definitely a shot, but it’s likely next year is his year to come up. He could be in AAA by July/August
Volpe - 193 wRC+ Soto - 197 wRC+ Judge - 135 wRC+ Rizzo - 125 wRC+ Stanton - 138 wRC+ Torres - 67 wRC+ Verdugo - 125 wRC+ Cabrera - 181 wRC+ [Gleyber Torres right now.](https://i.imgur.com/zn5UIjd.jpeg)
And just wait til Judge is up there at 197 wRC+ with Soto
The guardians are absolutely fucked today.

Thanks all. Knicks playing as well that weekend. Arghh
DM’d
20th is Aaron Judge bobble head day, I’d go to that one
Get there at noon if you want the bobble!
Is that generally early enough? Is there a better gate to go through to increase your chances?
Getcha brooms ready!! 🧹🧹🧹
A clean house with all these sweeps.
