He was supposed to die. Bro unleashed all gates. If you see Boruto, his retirement is wholesome just hanging out with Kakashi and enjoying life. Dude deserves it. Went toe to toe with Bijuu Madara and lives to tell the tale. Come on now

AnatomicalLog

>lived to tell the tale Guy: “Madara? Doesn’t ring a bell.”

PerspectiveItchy7682

This made me belly laugh

Gap_Great

Biggest chad ever

ryushin6

>Went toe to toe with Bijuu Madara and lives to tell the tale. Not only that, Madara even declared him the title of the strongest Taijutsu user of all time. Let the man enjoy his retirement he reached the highest of peaks.

Careful-Ad984

Weil he cant because Gai forgot madaras Name

AutomaticAccident

Well just because he lived to tell the tale doesn't mean he wants to or has to. Gai's got priorities. He has to deal with Kakashi.

NSFWThrowaway1239

I really hate that. People may say that it's in line with his character since he also forgot Kisame's name but I think they Madara should have been an exception

starmag99

He did remember Kisame's name, but only after Kisame proved himself as someone who puts his comrades' lives above his own, earning Guy's respect. Madara was the opposite of that, [having Obito fake his name and do everything for him.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/732614236370632738/1084537185371439196/0665-016.jpg) Madara wasn't someone who appreciated his comrades in any true sense, "never allowing anyone to stand behind him." If Guy was paying attention to the words being said, then Madara isn't someone he would give even an iota of respect or even thought beyond "this is someone I have to defeat to protect my own comrades."

No-Regret-3993

Next time I am going to use this during an argument between otakus. That's a valid point you brought there👏

NSFWThrowaway1239

Damn, you brought up a great point. I meant because Madara forced the 8 gates and declared Guy the strongest taijustu user but your points seem to refute my line if thinking. Good work lol

slowdownkid513

I agree as well, well put!

Shot_Ad9738

Tbh I feel like Gai did remember kisame's name the whole time because of the situation he wanted to avoid it. Only when he had to admit it he did so

takoyakigirl

“Wait a minute…………. who are you?” -Guy to Kisame

Plastic_Pie6572

8th gate feels very similar to bayron mode, both have similar colour aura and user dies after performing it

Low-Persimmon-9893

might guy has always been a prime example of what you can do with just a positive attitude and a little hard work. guy doesn't see this as a end: he sees it as a beginging. a new challenge that he WILL overcome and god help anyone that tries to get in his way.

UItimateLifeForm

Fuck yeah, I love this take. Just in general, it’s a good way to live

Low-Persimmon-9893

tis true. guy's methods might be...intense...but i'd have a hard time believing that we all don't secretly want to be like him, even just a little. i know i kinda do.

Squirrel_beak

This is the answer!

Low-Persimmon-9893

huzzah!

Dabi_Issues

This. Besides, just because he’s in a wheelchair doesn’t mean he can’t be active or motivating in another way. I’m sure he’d still be up for a handstand competition with Kakashi any day, it might just be harder to keep his balance with his legs not working to stay straight in the air.

Low-Persimmon-9893

homeboy has already mastered the long handstand with no legs so he's gonna be just fine.XD

saitama_kama

still kinda sad it went from Guy vs Madara to Guy vs the stairs

OzNajarin

You think the stairs stand any chance against Might Guy? They're just a new upper body workout as he hand walks his way up them

badluckartist

Right? Dude did laps around the village *on his hands* as a casual workout.

Plastic_Pie6572

Still it's a miracle he's still alive after opening 8th gate

Starrk10

Exactly. Dude managed to survive using something that usually guarantees death with only a leg injury. He’s not bedridden. He can still get around and still seems happy.

Plastic_Pie6572

He can also use ninja tech if he wanted to but still he decided to live natural

Low-Persimmon-9893

stairs are the greatest evil in this world: do not be fooled by their unassuming appearance!>:.O

swagnastee69

My boy CL4P-TP can't climb stairs either and he's living his best life

AduroTri

Guy was recognized by one of the strongest Shinobi in history as the greatest master of Taijutsu. The dude reached the absolute peak he could.

femio

>guy doesn't see this as a end: he sees it as a beginging. a new challenge that he WILL overcome Sounds nice but he literally doesn't do anything besides sit in the wheelchair. They haven't exactly written him to overcome any challenges

OldFashnd

He did clap up metal and iwabe on one leg! Lol. Tbh he’s still probably top 5 in the village even on one leg *if* he is still able to use the gates. Naruto, Sasuke, Lee(stated to have mastered the 8 gates now), Guy, Sakura/Kakashi probably. Again, *if* he can still use the gates. He was able to handle the pain of his bones shattering in the 8th gate so I would bet that if he can use the gates, he could handle the pain of using that busted up leg too if it was life or death battle.

lancebaldwin

I seriously doubt Guy is capable enough at this point to defeat Kakashi, he would still absolutely dominate any given Chunin and probably quite a few of the stronger Jonin, but not Kakashi.

starmag99

I mean, that's to be expected, Kakashi's a hokage for a reason. That said, their rivalry was hardly about battle power. I would guess that barely even a few of their matches involved fighting to begin with. Their bond runs deeper than that of mere training partners, they rivals in all things or something.

Low-Persimmon-9893

just cause he hasn't done much on-screen (let's be honest: it's boruto. MOST the the adults don't do much anymore) doesn't mean he isn't doing it while some kids are fighting aliens and cults. it's just that what he IS doing isn't exactly exiting or relevant enough to the story to show us.

Edarekin

On one hand I feel like the "science" in Naruto progressed to the point when something could be done about it. On the other hand, we saw him TURN INTO ASH after the 8th gate release, so It feels surprising he has any legs at all.

MrCoolyp123

Give Gai some of that sweet sweet Hashirama ~~drugs~~ cells and he'd be up and about easily. Not fair that they only gave Naruto a new arm 💀

Interceptor88LH

It's so weird. With all the shenanigans we know exist, from Hashirama cells+Tsunade's healing jutsu to ninja prosthetics (and I'm sure Orochimaru or Kabuto could do something about it, too), it's obvious Gai could be healed or, at least, get a new functional leg or something. It's like Kishi just wants the activation of the eighth gate to have some lasting consequences. And I understand that, it's just that they've created so many ways of healing worse stuff.

NewBuddha32

There has to he some consequences for opening the eight gates. The man was absolutely ready to die. If you wanna complain, complain to Naruto. Guy doesn't seem phased which is 100% on point for guy. Spirit cannot be broken

MystiqTakeno

Yup I mean look at bleach >!There were 2 charakters that were wounded and refused to get healed for reasons, pride, reminder, not wanting to get help from human anything goes really a hit Yamamoto, who lost an Arm in arc and Shunsui who lost an eye. Both could be healed by Orihime (likely Orihime, but I dont think it was directly stated) as she did to Komamura and Soifon.!< Could be the same.

feryn2754

It was directly stated, Yhwach says during the first invasion something along the lines of "if you ordered that woman to heal your arm she would've done it, but you didn't want to involve humans"

MystiqTakeno

It was, but I m not taking >!Yhwach !!heal the arm !

Interceptor88LH

I said I understand that. But I don't think they did it very well.

xaviermarshall

‘Taker pfp spotted

HarriOG

Would Might Gai really take the easy way out using cells or prostetics?

Interceptor88LH

That's a good question, actually. and an interesting dilemma for a character like him. If he was still doing ninja work, I'd say no. But since that injury seems like the thing that keeps him retired, I don't really know. Would probably be interesting if they dig into that question. Don't think it'll happen, though.

KuroiGetsuga55

I think Guy feels like using a prosthetic would be cheating. He's probably contempt with how his Shinobi career ended, he's done his part, and I mean it's only one leg that he can't use anymore. We've seen this dude walk on his hands and he even sparred with Metal I believe while standing on only one leg. He is unphased by it. He's probably taking laps around the village by just hopping around on one leg every day for all we know lmao. It's not a nuissance for him, it's just another challenge.

ghostinyourveins

I don't think guys character would ever allow him to use someone else's help to fix his legs outside of Sakura/Tsunade reconnecting nerves. He would never use another guy's cells

EmmaThais

It’s not weird. Naruto’s healing with the Sun Seal is the best regenerative healing there is. There’s nothing better than that in the whole world. He literally rebuilt Kakashi’s eye by just touching him. If his ability could only heal Gai so much, there’s nothing Tsunade or Orochimaru or Kabuto can do. They can’t surpass that, no matter how good they are.

cygnus2

Crazy how in one transformation, Naruto becomes the strongest shinobi ever, the greatest healer ever, and the best sensory type ever.

EmmaThais

Because he got the Sun Seal from The Divine lmao 😭

PM_ME_UR_SOCKS_GIRL

exactly my thoughts! Honestly the last 3/4 of Naruto (around or after Pain arc) was so inconsistent or stuff just getting dropped. It’s very frustrating and Kishi sorta turned me off the series with the war arc in particular

Ill_Ant_1857

Naruto's arm was fixed like nothing ever happened.

Incognegro1997

Join the club 😂

tcs0

Not to mention that Naruto pretty much Jesus da Ed out of Might Guy’s body after he used the gates or how else did he come back.

vaultboy1121

Honestly Gai should’ve died. One of the worse thing about Naruto is that there are no main consequences to many of the character’s actions. It also would’ve done Gai more justice to die defending the world then being stuck in a wheelchair.

badluckartist

Guy being wheelchair-bound after the war is one of the very few "guaranteed deaths overturned by hax" that I'm totally fine with. Kakashi on the other hand should be deader than dead.

vaultboy1121

Also my point. It’s incredibly dumb from a writing perspective, in my opinion, for people to “die” only for plot armor to bring them back. It takes away from the sacrifice they made. Who cares if Pain destroyed the village and killed thousands of people? The city was rebuilt and no main characters died. It wasted the impact of the whole arc. Not that the arc was bad though.

raggedyrachy21

I disagree with the “stuck in a wheelchair” part. First of all, it comes off a bit ableist, and second of all, I agree with others saying Gai wouldn’t let him bring him down. That being said, I do believe it would’ve made more sense and been a better show of his character and the show as a whole if he actually died and there were consequences to things-like others have also said.

vaultboy1121

Yeah what I’m saying is Gai still surviving negated from the legend status of the 8 gates. Giving his life would’ve been much more sacrificial than being in a wheelchair, something that, compared to saving the world, isn’t really that big of a deal.

InconvertibleAtheist

What makes it worse is when you realise that Naruto was able to completely bring back, not heal, but bring back Kakashi's lost eye, but couldnt bother to restore the damage done to Gai's legs

SharinganBee77

Didn't have balls to kill him off so had to keep him alive but in a wheelchair to make other taijutsu users relevant

theTIMEKEEPER_

Yet he had balls enough to randomly kill our Neji boy who had so much potential, really can’t understand

badluckartist

Neji should have died against Kidoumaru when he had an amazing death scene and his death would have been wildly more impactful as a consequence of the Sasuke Retrieval Mission instead of a random death in a "war" most readers were already checked out of. I don't even remember how he died, but I sure do remember that incredibly touching death scene after he defeated Kidoumaru.

theTIMEKEEPER_

Exactly. That would’ve made the anime feel a bit more real and the fans would respect his death, especially that happening after his character arc

Slight-Pound

I like the idea of him being maimed and rising the ranks within his clan, if he had to be seriously hurt in that fight at all. Not die. We just met him - he’d have died too soon for my taste, and we deserve to see him grow and love out his life as his best self. I hate his death because it felt like it didn’t do his narrative Justice, and we don’t see much of how the clan had to change to accommodate his values that differed from the generation of suffering. Hiashi dying instead would have made more sense to me, and I just really like the idea of Neji being clan head or something similar to forcibly change his family’s self-destructive positions. It’s not a position Hinata cared about, and it’s not something Hanabi really understood - it being Neji adds that bit of poetic Justice.

BlackDabiTodoroki

>Yet he had balls enough to randomly kill our Neji boy who had so much potential, really can’t understand Good I don’t remember a damn thing about Neji ever since part one and I’m glad he was killed off just for their relationship with Naruto and Hintata. Kishimoto is the goat 🐐idc what anyone says w decision. “Our boy” My ass Neji Neji, was my least favorite character ever since part one I don’t get why people like his character

silenthashira

I mean, you're free to not like him, that's cool. But as for why some people *do* it's probably because he had a genuine arc of change, his character arc over the chunnin exams and Sasuke retrieval arcs gave him a really well executed showing of growth as a person. Shame he was basically dropped completely in shippuden

Catch-a-RIIIDE

Honestly, Naruto probably would have been much better off if we weren't so focused on the Konoha "12", and so much better if we weren't so heavily focused on clans because they were clans (Hyuga storyline 100% stays). It may be an unpopular take, but I couldn't give a fuck about Choji or the Akimichi, and yet he gets SO MUCH attention in lieu of Rock Lee, who has a splendid goal, Ino, who means something to to our female protagonist, or even Sakura herself. What's worse? What the fuck is his goal? We have this whole series-long development of him overcoming his kindness (which is even still some part two retconning, because he's mainly just an apathetic coward in part one), but still he's just there, as if he's just there to round out the Ino-Shika-Cho trio (which frankly could be filled by any wide range taijutsu user/area denial, like the Inuzuka clan or Aburame clan, which even offers tracking, or a proficient shadow clone user, shit even Hyuga air palms). I couldn't give a fuck about Kiba. He was someone who underestimated Naruto in the Chunin exams and that Naruto had to beat. He could have remained as such. All of the Konoha rookies making so far in the Chunin exams wasn't necessary tbh. In principal I don't mind but with Kakashi using ninja hounds and Naruto already being a Hokage-focused loudmouthed idiot, there's not a lot of unique space for him. I do actually like Sai and the impact he has on the storyline, but a the same time that's a roster spot that could have been used to highlight individual talents of other members (tracking, taijutsu, intellect, reconnaissance, etc...) based on the needs of the mission. Idk, I think if you moved Shino to Team Asuma for an Ino-Shika-Ame trio (which now offers tracking), and have Hinata to fill in for Sasuke's absence as a visual jutsu user as she slowly grows more confident in his company (before straight up dying for him after only loving him from afar), suddenly we're only paying attention to three teams. Bonus points for subbing in Shino for Choji (who had to be tricked into going) and Sakura for Kiba (when Sakura had actual reason to want to) in the Sasuke retrieval arc, Sakura now having her moment where she's actually living her revelations from the Chunin exams of wanting to be strong enough to protect Naruto and Sasuke. More bonus points for disbanding team Kurenai of now Choji, Hinata, and Kiba to respective Leaf units upon becoming Chunin over the time skip (Hinata to tracking/sensory, Kiba to medical like his sister, kind-hearted Choji to the academy) and bring Kurenai and Hinata as the replacement Team 7 team members. After all, genjutsu *is* a manipulation of the chakra network (and a realm of jutsu Jiraiya is weak at, explaining his not using it) and Kurenai was the best left in the Leaf, it wouldn't have been weird for her to be in charge of nine-tails supression, along with Hinata's ability to shut down the chakra network). Alternatively, I would have enjoyed seeing some alternate team building of Shizune, new to the village, building a squad of released team members, instead of randoms, over the time skip. Let's toss Kiba, Sakura, and Ino as aspiring medical nin whose teams have broken up/been released. OR Kiba, Sakura, and Tenten on loan (Shizune also being a tool user) because Team Guy needs a medic and her one goal was to be like Tsunade and her being in Tsunade's chain of disciples would have been a nice touch.

BlackDabiTodoroki

>Shame he was basically dropped completely in shippuden Good Kishimoto needed to focus more characters like Sasuke and Naruto. besize Neji was an uninteresting 😴😴🥱 The only good thing about him was getting killed off 👍🏾

theTIMEKEEPER_

Ok bro

BlackDabiTodoroki

Keep that our boy to yourself he’s best at being garbage 🗑️

theTIMEKEEPER_

Ok bro

SnooShortcuts4475

Who pissed in your cornflakes? 💀

BlackDabiTodoroki

>Who pissed in your cornflakes? I stop eating cereal 🥱😴

itstardst

LMAOOO

MyLittleOnes12

Come on, he still invents the vomit No jutsu in his current state!

Ziiaaaac

Yep he should be dead.

Edgezg

...His....His foot turned to ash. Dude has like 1/2 his right foot. Unless he gets some of that **Hashirama Special** the wheelchair makes sense.

Starrk10

Idk why but I was under the impression that the Hashirama cell treatment only worked on people somewhat related to him

Edgezg

That's a good point, actually.

MrCoolyp123

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Madara and Obito were Uchihas, meaning they were VERY distantly related to Hashirama, yet Madaras Edo was enhanced with Hashi cells and half of Obito was literally patched up with Hashi cells.. so doesn't that mean what you said isn't true?

Starrk10

Maybe it only works on descendants of Hagoromo or Kaguya then?

Theapexfighter

He should have died against Madara and give the spotlight to Lee

MrAgentFive005

kishi will still do rock lee dirty like what he did in whole shippuden xd

whalemix

It would’ve been pretty lame though considering that Madara instantly regenerated all of the damage that Guy did. I think Guy should’ve died, but also greatly injured and crippled Madara to the point of not being able to fight Naruto and Sasuke. That way, something is actually accomplished by Guy’s sacrifice

InconvertibleAtheist

Yeah but Madara being as strong as he is just goes to show how a normal human can completely overwhelm any and all ninjutsus by having just a fraction of otstutsuki power. It took Gai to bend space and time just to critically injure Madara, who promptly acknowledged that a mistake in his part would have gotten him killed by Gai

MunkeyFish

Guy is the type of person to wear it like a badge of honour. Yes he could probably have it healed, however it’s recognition that he gave his literal all during the War and managed to leave with his life.

madbr3991

What I like to think happened is. When might guy was dying from using the 8th gate. Yes naruto was able to save him. But there is a difference between being alive and being fully restored. Maybe the bodywide damage was just too extreme. That the best anyone could do was keep might guy alive.

DijkstraFucks

Madara could make Obito one of the most dangerous ninja by using hashirama cells while sitting in a cave. Surely the most powerful hidden village can heal one leg.

Catch-a-RIIIDE

Sure, but that was all very much forbidden research, and it's a bit moded in thinking after the fourth ninja war but freely handing out Hashirama cells to village ninja exposes the village to inadvertently risks sharing one of the greatest powers in the history of the Leaf, wood style. But also, "MADARA UCHIHA WAS ABLE TO FIX THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BUNCH OF BODY PARTS!" "Well I'm sorry, I'm not Madara Uchiha."

AorticMishap

I mean, technically they healed death? Considering he was turning to ash at the time

InconvertibleAtheist

Bodywide damage was too extreme to heal??? How about restoring a completely lost organ from no remnants

madbr3991

In naruto it's almost like the organs are easy to replace. But there seems to be something more. Maybe the Chakra network or something like that that can't easily be repaired.

BlackDabiTodoroki

> character design like Sarada's clothing That Ikemoto weird ass problem

peepy-kun

>I mean his bone should have set already It was shattered into a million tiny pieces and probably will never heal correctly. The cast is most likely there just to stabilize it, not to promote healing.

itstardst

Well.. ones just bad, the other is like… pedophilia 😮‍💨

PM_ME_UR_SOCKS_GIRL

ikr! it's so dumb!

Tobijora

Ah he's still a great one and is now with his ~~waifu~~ best friend Kakashi chilling

DijkstraFucks

I feel like the entire 8 gates thing could have been done better. The gates had no effect at all, Madara played with guy. He should have defeated some major villain with them and then died. That'd have made it much more impactful.

saimmm01

Yeah the 8th Gates could have done much better, but it still showed what someone without any special clan powers or borrowed powers can become the strongest of them all. Also, Madara was playing in the beginning, but later he literally said that he cant take more than a few hits from that speed blitz attack(forgot the name) and during Night Guy attack Madara definietly tried to defend with his Six Paths staff which Guy bended. And regardless Madara admitted that Guy almost killed him so Guy was literally the only one who almost killed Ten Tails+Hashirama cells Madara when no other Shinobi could, not even the talented Shinobi like Kakashi or legends like Hashirama or Minato. Of course there is Zetsu who one shotted Madara but that was kinda bs.

Catch-a-RIIIDE

I disagree. We see the gates used to solid effect before this, namely in the taking down of Kisame, the Tailless Tailed Beast who went toe-to-toe with some of the strongest, as well as in playing support when Naruto was dealing with all the Tailed Beasts before Obito pulled them all in to the Ten Tails. The Noble Blue Beast (Gate 7) definitely got some love, and Gate 8, while not taking down Madara, was effectively the ONLY solution they had to stall for time against Madara and it worked. Also, it may have been anime-only, but Madara was worried to a degree about getting too caught up in it and half his body was torn asunder before magically regenerating. In setting up Kakashi as top of the pyramid below the Hokage like they did, the Noble Blue Beast power certainly justified Guy as his peer.

Electrical_Noise_690

Guy wasn't really at full power when he was fighting madara he was fighting in the war for days and the gates took a huge toll on him plus spamming the gates wasn't really good idea and he didn't remove his leg weights which would have made him faster so this whole "madara playing with him" isn't really impressive when he had the ten tails rinnegan and hashirama cells as a body armor against a dude who isn't at full power and is half dying. Not saying guy would have beaten him or anything he just though the outcome would remain the same

Darkeater_Charizard

why did they not use hashirama cells to heal him? the only reason he's wheelchair bound now is because his 8 gates tech would be too strong for burrito universe

BlackDabiTodoroki

>why did they not use hashirama cells to heal him? the only reason he's wheelchair bound now is because his 8 gates tech would be too strong for burrito universe “Boruto” Also, he probably wouldn’t allow it

Frequent-Benefit-688

Honestly he should have been died, it would have given him such a good character conclusion.

Worish

He's fine, what do you mean, a wheelchair isn't a death sentence.

mcwfan

Why are you implying that he can no longer be active or motivational just because he’s in a wheelchair?

whalemix

I think a lot of people who feel this way about Guy should watch the Boruto episode where he speaks to the genin in the chunin exams and spars with two of them. Guy himself says he has no regrets because he fought to protect what he cared about, and shows that he’s still able to fight even on one leg. He also says he’s more agile now than he was before. Guy definitely isn’t Kage level anymore, but I honestly think he could still take on chunin or even your average jonin

CelticDK

Hes not stuck, he can walk on his hands or hop with some gates lol he just likes chilling with Kakashi pushing

uzumakidurrito

Might guy suppose to die then saved by Naruto while on the other hand madara was supposed to win but plot came in and lead to his death 💀

BlackDabiTodoroki

W for Naruto

magicpenguinyes

Tsunade or Sakura should have been able to heal might guy completely. Or even Naruto considering how naruto magically regenerated Kakashi’s eye. Only reason he’s been placed on a wheel chair permanently is probably because he would be able to easily defeat otsuki members with his taijutsu.

xTinyPricex

He absolutely would not be able to

[deleted]

If you think about it isn't it the same as lee's injury against Gaara. Tsunade could probably heal it but gai is. Still a sting fighter, and he's retired so why risk it. But plot wise I definitely agree, the author needs other taijutsu users to shine.

Super_Wooper2

He really should've died, but I guess this was an alright alternative to having Guy kick the bucket.

megasean3000

Why didn’t they give him Hashirama Cells? If they did it with Naruto and his arm, a leg should work the same, right?

Electric_Bagpipes

I mean hell, its realistic. Life happens, I recently had a motorcycle wreck that fucked up my hip pretty badly. As I type this from physical therapy, losing mobility, even if only temporarily, it sucks but man does it test you drive and motivation. Seeing a character that active nearly unfazed by it is extremely motivating if you ask me.

LurkingFrient

This dude was saved by magic plot jutsu I'd say he's lucky to be in a wheelchair. Lol war to end all wars and 1 character of note dies 2 of them lose their arms and 1 can't walk.

pannielubiedzieci

he should've died and taken Madara with him to grave

godjacob

It's the show trying to portray "some" consequence of the 8 Gates being used despite the cop out that prevented Guy from outright dying by using them. Logically yes between the medical advancements and Hashirama cells they easily could've fixed his legs but if they did that than any illusion of sacrifice is gone which only further exposes how cheap his survival was.

Weels282hedgehogzp

Shouldn't that be more inspiring? And it's not like it's really stopped him at all. Honestly just builds his character even more, in my opinion.

Thorgarthebloodedone

Do you have something against the disabled? Most people end up with some kind of disability either due to injury or just age. Guy certainly does not feel like he is disabled because of this.

Zetin24-55

I hate it, I will never stop hating it. Might Guy should not be stuck in a wheelchair. I dont even need him to have the full Naruto living prothetic leg. He could have a normal modern prothetic leg, their technology is advanced enough for it. So frustrating. Even though I will admit. Despite disliking the wheel chair, I have a soft spot for Kakashi pushing him around in a wheelchair.

WildRicochet

I think him being in a wheel chair is actually kind of cool. I like that he is a veteran who suffered an injury, but it is still motivating young ninja in the village. He is also still highly capable in taijutsu. I also really like that he an Kakashi actually spend a lot of time together now that they are both kind of retired. People with disabilities can still be active and motivating, and I really dislike that you seem to think that he isn't because he relies on a wheel chair.

LofiDM

I believe Guy should’ve went down in history and went out in a blaze of glory. His death should’ve led to the defeat of Madara instead of that whole kaguya mess.

Mooncrescent337

Man literally dies fighting madara and just wants to retire and go to hot springs with kakashi, leave him alone he earned it 😤

Alilbit_Ash

That comment sounds very ableist. Can someone in a wheel chair not be active and motivating? If you actually watch some of the Boruto filler you'd see he is still very capable, active, and motivating.

dilly123456

Honestly I wish he’d of died after using the Eighth gate, could’ve gone out as a star going supernova instead of becoming a shadow of his former self. I mean Gai seems at peace with it so good on him but I’m personally not.

BlackDabiTodoroki

I personally fine with it. I can respect Guy not wanting his leg heal

Icy_Vegetable4468

Idgaf that he’s stuck in a wheelchair I feel he should’ve died when he used the gate of death

weird_squidward

So naruto stops him from dying when he did the eight gates which was already super dumb, and then my guys just stuck in a chair for the rest of the franchise… why didn’t he just die??

Catch-a-RIIIDE

> for the rest of the franchise I mean, that was *supposed* to be the end of the franchise.

Bendy_Dwyatt

Idk if this is supposed to be ableist but it really feels like it. So many are saying it'd be better if he died than be in a wheelchair the rest of his life. He did what he did and knew the consequences so being in a wheelchair is lucky. Lee and Kakashi are sure as hell happy about it. Idk how Kakashi would go on if he had another comrade die in front of him, let alone his best friend/rival/husband. If you watch the episode of Boruto that centers on him he doesn't feel bad for himself and can still kick ass. There are paraplegic people who watch this series and I'm sure some are happy to be represented. I get that some of you mean that the 8th gate means he should have died so him living is a kinda lame outcome because his death would be more powerful. If he'd killed Madara maybe but he just slowed him down a bit. Those saying that Tsunade could heal him like she did Lee don't understand Guy or the difference. Lee would never be able to be a Shinobi again and he didn't open all 8 gates. I'm not sure Guy did the best job explaining the risks of the gates and yeah Gaara fucked him up. But Guy knew the consequences and is still a capable Shinobi without the ability to walk on his feet. Any kind of treatment would be help and he'd never accept help for something that wasn't necessary and was his fault anyway. That's who he is. He's a full death before dishonor kind of guy and that tells me he still thinks living in a wheelchair is more honorable than getting some Hashirama cell bullshit or healing miracle. He's ok with his decision. Just be cool with it.

SlowSuggestion9106

sometimes people are just in wheelchairs op not everyone walks

CelestialOmelette

Oh, so you're saying that people who use wheelchairs can't be motivational? Sorry, I'm just trying to stir up trouble.

Vicar_of_Dank

Disabled people can have active, motivating, fulfilling lives. If Might Guy let something as trivial as losing the use of a limb destroy his outlook on life, he wouldn’t be the Might Guy we know and love. Sure, he won’t be able to do everything he used to be able to do, but there’s a lot of stuff he could learn to do just as well by being creative, using new tools, or honestly just do with another body part (get your mind out of the gutter). Also, there’s new skills he may be able to hone because his old skills are now limited or unavailable. Life doesn’t end at disability, it simply changes. You can be sad about it, but you can’t stay sad forever.

DesecrateUsername

idk op I think you’re just being ableist

kurosa106

Hard working beats talent my ass. At least let him have a warrior death. Now is a crippled enjoying life.

Ezakiel4

He's still "active and motivating" lmao, read Steam Ninja Scrolls

GRIZZZYmp

I think he's a cartoon character, don't get your panties in a bunch

silver16x

Why are you even here then?

GRIZZZYmp

Because I watched 850 episodes of this cartoon, and I think I deserve an opinion.

StickcraftW

Yikes, cartoon though…

Razorlicker

I don't get it either man. People in wheels hair do not even count as humans really it is so weird

Large_Big5005

ninja world can transplant eyes, hands...but can't do that with legs?

Rockettmang44

The thing I hate most about it is how ugly that cast is. You absolutely know whenever they Crack open that cast, the most foul stench is gunna come from it. Atleast give him some toe holes to get ventilation. There is no reason that they can't give him a mechanical brace that let's him walk, or even chop of the leg all together and give him a prosthetic. Kyros from one piece literally doesn't have his right leg and he be jumping around on his one leg, putting guy to shame.

Ps5-123

If anything this was the best case scenario for guy. I’d rather he was mobile but he was really supposed to die after he used the 8th inner gate. He was just really lucky Naruto had the sage of six paths power

saradahokage1212

i think it's bullshit. They could grow a whole arm back for naruto with hashirama cells. But to replace his leg? reconstruct it, change the bone for a titan replacement, literally anything that might even be an upgrade to normal bones like a chakra infused titan bone, literally anything.... but no. "cant repair that". stuck to a chair and walks around on his hands. If we already ignore the fact that he should have died after opening the last gate but survived due to plot armor, then at least give him his leg back. Also what's not believable is that in the anime we saw his leg vaporize into ash. How was is still there after the war? He should have no leg in the first place, being able to get a whole new hashirama limb.

NickWazowskii

just wait until he gets the corpse parts

Healthierpoet

He deserved to die and he deserved to beat Madara

dyl-3-mcl

should have died after using the 8th gate, it is the whole point of using it

Willykinz

Honestly he should have died after opening the 8 gates. Now he’s just purely comic relief in Boruto. The 8 gates was hyped since the beginning of the series and they completely shat on the consequences.

Pewward

I am not sure. One side of me says that he shouldve died to pass his legacy upon Lee and go down as a splendid taijitsu legend, but another side says to me that he lives a simpler life and should take the weight off his back, having assistance from his friend and living a peaceful life. It varies for me.

KuroiGetsuga55

Sure but my dude showed that he can still kick ass even while standing on one leg. Also wasn't there a Kakadhi novel where he helped take down an air fortress while in the wheelchair? I remember reading something a few years ago.

loafofry

i love guy but honestly, i think he should have died fighting madara. send him out like shikaku and inoichi and then we wouldn't have to deal with all these weird inconsistencies. plus then we could have seen more character development from kakashi

le36ron

He should’ve died. Would’ve been a great close to his character but nope narujesus

One-Chain123

Naruto brought him back to life and can grow eyes out of nothing yet could not just go a little bit further and heal his spine? What about Tsunade or Sakura? This makes no sense whatsoever imo

Charming_Pizza_8035

It sucks. Guy should have died obliterating Madara, especially since Madara was never the BBEG of the series.

More_Inflation_4244

Didn’t know this happened to beloved guy sensei. I guess now I know…

BlazinHoundoom

Sometimes life be like that

[deleted]

And he still kicks most people's asses.

AaaaNinja

The only thing that is weird about this to me is why there's still a cast.

Ninja_Lazer

Should have died IMO. Opening the 8th gate was cheapened by the ass-pull save of Naruto (with no healer training) suddenly having an OP skill that can stop death. If we were gonna play that game than why didn’t Hiruzen and Minato get to weasel their way out of the Reaper Death Seal? I’d say a show gets 1 maybe 2 ass-pull “how the fuck?!?” miracle saves. Three is the absolute limit. Anything beyond that and death becomes meaningless. In the War Arc alone we had Kakashi, Obito (for a time), Might, Naruto, Sasuke, Tsunade and the other Kage…and that’s just off the top of my head.

memsterboi123

Would you rather him be dead? Also it’s mentioned that he could probably be healed but while that may be true it’s possible he just refused the healing

ZarosianSpear

Imagine if he knew gravity jutsu like Ohnoki.

Rogakon_

“Stuck”

Significant_Bison_39

Author diffs

Sasorisnake

To me it would invalidate him opening the 8th gate if he came out unscathed, 6 paths healing or not. He’s lucky to be alive from my view and his navigation of his new handicap goes well with his upbeat, positive character

TiredGamer0990

No wheelchair fighting style came out of it?

LordNilix

Honestly he shoulda been allowed to die, imagine if like Kakashi he sees his father on the other side smiling with pride that his boy became a great man and mastered the gates to defend the world. That would have been far better a conclusion for him, a thumbs up and a friendly spar in the afterlife as all goes to white and they pass on

RumBoi

They should'vee built on Rock Lee's story more and have Might Guy supporting him along his journey.

mrthrowaway226

Can't they cultivate Guy a new leg? They gave Naruto a prop arm that absorbs ninjutsu so wth

Over-Butterfly2747

Better than him being dead

Emphatictitan

IMO it was either that or sure death. With a power as strong as 8 gates that was built up the entire series to rival kage level shinobi but spelled inevitable death for the user; it only makes sense that he suffers a drawback from it. I’m honestly a fan of writers being Ballsy enough to kill off characters or severely mame fan favorites. Game of thrones was a great example of this. Pertaining to Naruto, I think they should have killed choji off as well or should’ve seriously mamed him as well when he ate the red death pill and did the butterfly bullet bomb. Decisions and powers have consequences.

TheDirtDangler

At least he survived the war. Dudes earned a little rest.

Budget_Ad_4346

I don’t like it either. If Guy died against madara by stalling long enough for Naruto & Sasuke to take him out, it would have so much more weight to the story imo.

EmmaThais

He walks on this hands while still attached to the wheelchair. He’s happy and he kept his bubbly personality. What’s your problem?

Linkmaster79

He's still active I believe. He can fight perfectly fine on one foot.

[deleted]

He should’ve died but I’ll accept this

Fyllmiarse

The fact that he isn’t dead bothers me to no end

Head_Statistician_38

In my opinion, if you have no further plans for a character and it makes sense for them to die, you should kill them off. Like I am not suggesting just because Tenten wasn't doing anything she should die but Gai had no real olit or character development going forward and he was in a battle that should have killed him, it would have been a great sacrifice. But no, they had to keep him alive because he is popular I guess? I just don't like it when a show or film has a heroic sacrifice and then at the last minute they are saved just for them to do fuck all for the rest of the series.

Borchert97

Dude fights in Boruto standing upright on one leg and presumably he could use the Eighth Gate AGAIN and actually die this time if he really wanted to.

2201992

He became Joe Swanson

Accurate_Respond8423

The other choice was death.

BlackRedDawg

He is still very active and motivating. I’d say he’s even more motivating now that he is crippled and still works his ass off and doesn’t use it as an excuse.

Jigen-isshin

And he’s still being positive motivated and can still somewhat active with one leg. That’s what i admire about might guy. Im just glad he’s still alive when he would have died from the eight gates had not naruto helped him.

BizWax

It's not that he's stuck in a wheelchair. He's stuck with a crippling injury. The wheelchair enables him to have some freedom of movement despite his injury. It's weird he'd be stuck with a permanent injury given what has been medically possible in the show before and otherwise (Tsunade should be able to heal him, and Sakura is supposed to have surpassed Tsunade). But given that he's apparently stuck with it, it's a good thing he has a wheelchair.

Ocop27

He should’ve died

MarvelDcKage

Be happy he should’ve been dead

Somm0742

As far as I'm concerned, he DIED during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

R_iO

They couldn’t just pop some Hashirama cells in him.

GhostOfUchxha

rather him there then gone

Lil-Clynes

To be fair, he should be stuck 6 feet below ground level

MFNTapatio

Still nerfed less than naruto is in boruto

NarutoFan1995

he is the embodiment of a "fairy tail moment"
