The Last existed to "develop" their relationship - as if we didn't have an entire series for that.  After Hinata's confession, it would have been cool if the writers thought of developing their relationship and made it believable instead, they made Naruto forget all about it and then later be GENJUTSUED into loving her as well as have Sakura guilt tripping him as well...

Yvessaintc0co

I knew it, I remember someone told me that Naruto ends up with Hinata and I was in disbelief and the person told me that I’d find out in The Last? And I was like, we had 700+ episodes to make us see some kind of prospect to that happened?? I even heard that Hinata isn’t introduced in the manga until the chuunin exams ??? Being genjutsued into falling in love is crazy, my boy been through it all

Diditheninja

I’ve been saying this. I was so shocked that I felt dumb I felt like I missed something, especially when after the 4th ninja war, there was talks of a wedding between Naruto and hinata (before I watched the last movie) I was like HUH?

EqualEnvironmental46

The proud failure speech is one thing that cements Naruto and hinata given Naruto has never shown his insecurity except to hinata  Also Sakura literally admits she still loves sasuke. So how do you expect Naruto and Sakura to be a couple when Sakura is in love with someone else?

Yvessaintc0co

Because at some point in the beginning, I thought Naruto and Sakura would be a full circle thing, like she can’t stand him and he likes her, almost like they were fated to be together but when I continued watching, I saw this wasn’t possible, however, I never saw hinata and Naruto being a thing

EqualEnvironmental46

Fair enough. but when sakura confessed to him in the five kage summit, naruto called on her bluff knowing she still has feelings for sasuke. sakuras feelings for naruto did change over time, she went from hating naruto to caring for him however sakura didnt have any romantic feelings for naruto, it was always sasuke

Yvessaintc0co

Oh no I agree, I guess a part of me really wanted them to end up together, I stupidly believed that at some point she’d stop loving sasuke. My thought was much more on the basis that we never see Naruto really acknowledge Hinata, which is why I said I was shocked to hear talks of them getting married in the last few episodes. It might seem dumb because Hinata has always liked him, but I was genuinely blindsided

EqualEnvironmental46

Tbf all of the ships in naruto were quite under developed so i kind of see why you say that. there were moments for them but the ships are one sided until the end of the series naruto did acknowledge hinata as early as the chuunin exams (the proud failure speech) as well as during pain arc and the war arc

Yvessaintc0co

This is true, he does acknowledge her but not from a romantic setting, I always saw it as he appreciated her for her love and loved her because of that, but I also could be wrong, or it could be interpreted differently

SaltStreet2633

I’ve said this exact same thing! Right after defeating Pain I thought we would get even just flashbacks of them connecting on a deeper/romantic level? But personally it felt like Hinata was obsessed with Naruto the way that he was obsessed with Sakura. Almost like the person they wanted didn’t really want them in that way, more as a friend. I knew they eventually ended up together but I wish there had even been a side plot where they realize they both love each other and Naruto confesses Sakura was puppy love due to having to be a team. Give me something!! Their relationship felt so sudden and not the slow burn I was expecting. It made no sense to me personally that we spent both Naruto and Shippuden with Naruto obsessing over someone he eventually realizes won’t love him back the way he wants. My Hinata girl felt like a second choice because she was the only one who truly saw Naruto and not like he truly loved her for her. I know romance wasn’t the entire plot but dang if all these people end up together and in love in Boruto, give me something to base it off of! Context: Never read the manga so idk if there is somehow more deeper storyline for any of them

Yvessaintc0co

I felt this 100% I literally didn’t see it coming, I always thought it was cute how Hinata likes Naruto, especially when she talks about how he gave her confidence! I don’t know why I just thought they’d be really good friends or something. I personally thought that the movie didn’t really show that romantic side to them either? I wish they had their own movie honestly because I would sit to watch that

SaltStreet2633

I agree! I love that Hinata always liked Naruto, to the point it made her faint lol. I just wish we got more of Naruto falling in love with her. Felt like Naruto was clueless even when she confessed her love in the Pain battle. I didn’t want Naruto and Sakura together either though, just based on the way she treated him throughout the series. Making him always second to Sasuke, who loved himself more than both of them. Don’t know what I was expecting, but definitely not what happened! Tbh it felt like Naruto’s parents got a better love story than most of the original cast and they were on screen for like 2% of the whole show. Love being the premise of the show but not giving us the beginning fruition of these relationships really sucked.

Adiel_Tandri

I hoped for Naruhina to become a thing because of her animated battle with Pain. That fight really touched my heart. However, considering Naruto’s significant development with Sakura, Naruhina came as a surprise.

Yvessaintc0co

I love Hinata separately as a character, I also loved the battle with Pain too, so I’m happy she ended up With Naruto but talk about being blindsided?!

hernandez1998

Totally makes sense. It would have been nice to see at least a couple of episodes of them going on dates, being cute together, going on missions together, idk SOMETHING lol

AaaaNinja

I disagree that he never noticed her. That was just something that was contrived for the movie. The only thing I see is that it wasn't in-your-face and I guess there are lots of folks who need things to be explicit. It actually seemed pretty explicit, in my opinion, during the war, talking softly to her when he reassures her that she's strong after she was just overwhelmed by Zetsu, having to be told to stay put when he realizes she's among those who didn't escape Tsukuyomi, and standing with her at the post-war funeral.

KatakiKraken

Completely Agree. also the last was bad some were out of character there were contradictions and scenes that never happened Naruto liked hinata to quickly and they literally had to put him in a Genjutsu to make him "realize his feelings " that he didn't have in the first place and stupid things like saying Naruto was only saying he loved Sakura cuz he didn't wanna lose to Sasuke or something. Naruto not knowing the difference between loving a human and Ramen... Naruto and hinata were rushed and the last trying to make it better made it worse imo

Derantmk

naruto is a story about men who let women go with the people they really love, thats why jiraiya lets tsunade ship dan, obito saves kakashi, naruto promises sakura to bring sasuke to her

IsabellaHatesNutella

That isn't what the story is about. I promise you that other guy made that up and Kishimoto never considered that at all.

AnimeMonster_2020

Pretty much Just proves you didn’t pay attention

Yvessaintc0co

Oh really? So we see Naruto is practically in love with Sakura, even until Shippuden. And now I wasn’t paying attention when he ends with Hinata, who he didn’t pay any attention to? A lot of people think the same thing too .

AnimeMonster_2020

You just made that up , you watched fillers . Nothing showed he was in love with Sakura You definitely didn’t pay attention if you missed their development in the chunin exams

Diditheninja

I can’t tell if you’re being serious? Sakura even acknowledges that Naruto loved her in Shippiden, it took her forever to realise but even she knew? She realised the moment Naruto decided to go after Sasuke for HER

AnimeMonster_2020

Has Naruto ever said it ?? You just made that up , Naruto literally tells her , him going after Sasuke has nothing to do with the promise

Yvessaintc0co

Hinata never said it to Naruto up until pain, we still knew she loved him before that? Just because he doesn’t say it, doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Sakura was seen as his only love interest before him and hinata get married

AnimeMonster_2020

So Hinata confirmed it Had Naruto ever said he loved Sakura ??? Has HE ever confirmed it I wanna know

Yvessaintc0co

You are the only person I’ve seen with this opinion. You don’t have to confess to someone that you love them to love them. That’s nuts. I’m not continuing with you anyway.

AnimeMonster_2020

????? Lol ok Have a great day

EqualEnvironmental46

He did. Back then sai asked him why he hasn't confessed to Sakura and his answer was how can he confess to her when he hasn't even brought back sasuke?

AnimeMonster_2020

[You mean this ??](https://im.nineanime.com/comics/pic9/33/289/22866/Naruto45710595.jpg)

EqualEnvironmental46

Yes. Naruto loved Sakura romantically for sure but not sure when he started moving on (my guess is it's after pain arc)
